Industrial revolution

[edit]

Hi, I see you've added some refs, which is good ... only thing is, these two very short sections don't actually say what the "third" and "fourth" IRs actually are - nor whether they are at all widely accepted. Rather than get into edit-wars or slapping 'What?' tags all over the place, let me say the following: I suspect that while the 1st one is very widely agreed, the 2nd is a bit more doubtful, and subsequent ones are now coming upon us thick and fast at the rate of one every few years: it does devalue the currency. I don't know if any suggestions would be helpful at this stage, but my feeling would be to group these things in a single section of the 'Later revolutions' type (no doubt people can think of a better title), and then to explain that 'Professor of industrial history Joe Bloggs has called xyz the nth industrial revolution'. This would get over the impression that Wikipedia endorses such views but is simply reporting them. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:25, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I get what you're saying, I was merely putting in placeholders for someone else to fill in. I was at a seminar and someone brought up Industry 4.0 and I hadn't heard of it, nor was anything in wiki (English anyway). On the otherhand, it's not going to "devalue the currency" - the whole point is that technological innovations happen exponentially, so we will move to new revolutions faster.Bassplr19 (talk) 14:45, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Joslyn Clark

[edit]

Hello Bassplr19,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Joslyn Clark for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. LivitEh?/What? 15:40, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve The Long War (novel)

[edit]

Hi, I'm Antiqueight. Bassplr19, thanks for creating The Long War (novel)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. If you can put in the plot summary, the reference to the cover art and the further novels planned in addition, it would improve the article. See https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/The_Long_Earth for ideas and content.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Antiqueight confer 20:16, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.

The article Hail the Sun (band) has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:52, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hail the Sun requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Fitnr 15:39, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

It's important to pay attention to what things actually say, instead of what you think they say.

The NEMA article was not deleted because it "wasn't notable". The reason it was deleted was that "notability (was) not asserted". This means that it didn't say anything about why the NEMA was notable, only that the NEMA existed. If you consult the original history of the article, you will see that the only sources used for all statements were the NEMA's own webpage. For organizations, notability is the result of external attention. We didn't even have any non-NEMA-sourced proof that NEMA existed — and people have snuck hoaxes onto Wikipedia before.

Is NEMA important? I'm sure it is. But that's not the same as notability. And even if an organization is notable, proof has to be supplied.

"Here is what NEMA says about itself" is not enough for an article. That's why I deleted it. Understand now? DS (talk) 15:31, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I wish people would research and, you know, contribute first, then if deemed not worthy, delete. Construction, not just destruction.Bassplr19 (talk) 15:41, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Why didn't you do anything to improve the NEMA article? It was there for years! Amelioration, not apathy. Plus, deleted content can always be retrieved. DS (talk) 17:33, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Short circuit current rating moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Short circuit current rating, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Short circuit current rating, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:24, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Bassplr19. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Short circuit current rating".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 17:11, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Coletta (band) moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Coletta (band). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:51, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
