Localizing your recent userscript
[edit]Hi Awesome Aasim. I have WP:US/L on my watchlist and check every new script added to the list to look if I can localize them for fawiki so users can use them. Today, I noticed that you added CatMan. I was waiting for you to release that script. I made a copy of the script here and now, it doesn't work correctly on our wiki. (I removed "toLowerCase" and "toUpperCase" stuff as we don't have capital letters in Persian language) the problem is, Category namespace local name in fawiki is "رده", but wgNamespaceIds does not support that prefix; Therefore the editable category list does not appear at all. Can you please help me fix this? Thank you very much. —Jeeputer (talk) 07:42, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- Jeeputer the script is not ready for localization. Sorry. It will require several more patches before it will even be remotely ready for this. Feel free to open an issue on GitHub to remind me of it, but I may forget. Aasim (talk) 09:08, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- That's ok. I'll be waiting. Meanwhile, I will try to make the necessary changes and will let you know about the results (if any). Thanks. :) —Jeeputer (talk) 09:14, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
Friendly reminder
[edit]A friendly reminder to be cautious when placing an A3, A7, or similar type tag. The tag on Rituraj Kishore Sinha was after the 10 minute minimum but the subsequent edits show that editor was available for further improvement. I tend to wait a minimum of 15 minutes, and often an hour or more, before placing these kinds of tags just to ensure that I'm not being bitey. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 16:22, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up! Aasim (talk) 16:32, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Just because a page is eligible for speedy deletion does not make it a candidate for speedy keeping the discussion. Here, the best course of action would be to leave the discussion alone and wait for an admin to come along and handle it, or tag it for U1 yourself (and linking the discussion). By closing it, it's possible that the nominator will never get the result they ask for if they aren't following the discussion and/or is unaware of how tagging pages works. Furthermore, there is a chance that the CSD may be declined, so it is best to leave the discussion open so it could then be handled "slowly" if that were to happen. I went ahead and deleted it because I caught the closed discussion, but if I didn't, there is a real chance that the page would not have been deleted. -- Tavix (talk) 18:33, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

I'm not engaging in an edit war. His edit was reverse by a previous user on 10 February 2021. I'm just reverting to the original edit of that user on 10 February. His sources does not cite whatever his is claiming. Independent Airman (talk) 08:48, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

This is accepted that User_talk:IR2017 is not willing to participate in Talk.--Storm598 (talk) 08:55, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- That user is considered a malicious user. Currently, IR2017 is not participating in the Talk:Tuesday Group that I opened.--Storm598 (talk) 08:57, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Storm598 Please assume good faith. There is already a report on the administrators' noticeboard (particularly the section on edit warring) and any other misbehavior like making accusations that the other user is not following policy is likely to land you a block or an interaction ban to protect the site. I hope the matter gets resolved there and no admin has to block you, but accusing the other editor of doing something is going to make matters worse. Aasim (talk) 09:02, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Messing with Archives
[edit]Hi @Awesome Aasim: Don't update archives. It not a good idea and goes against the grain in preserving all the messy habits. I used to do it myself until I got warned off. scope_creepTalk 12:56, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Articles for deletion discussions are for deletion only, not merging. If you'd like to propose a merge, then please use the {{mergeto}} and/or {{mergefrom}} templates on the article, and then suggest a merge on the talk page, or be WP:BOLD and do the merge yourself. Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 02:44, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- And please don't arbitrarily redirect the article without any discussion. If you want to propose a merge, then do so. Meters (talk) 05:33, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
