December 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Belbury. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Steven Crowder have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Not sure what technical or grammatical distinction you're trying to draw between "racial" and "racist" slurs, but the source says "racist". Belbury (talk) 09:06, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

When did articles have to copy word for word what sources say. I know articles are supposed to say stuff from sources, but they have to steal stuff word for word? AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 13:06, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also racial sounds better than racist. It's very constructive and I think it should be added back AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 20:53, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm AntiDionysius. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Hate speech, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. AntiDionysius (talk) 23:02, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The dictionary definition of hate speech linked in the article was supposed to be the source AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 23:05, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't support what you added. AntiDionysius (talk) 23:07, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
well. I got a source now. Can you undo your reverts so I can add the source? AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 23:29, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need me to undo my reverts. AntiDionysius (talk) 23:43, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
i can't undo your edits. My device won't let me, and wouldn't that be edit warring? AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 23:45, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If someone removes something for not having a source and you re-add with a source, you're probably safe enough against accusations of edit warring. Especially if the person says it's fine (which I'm currently doing). But I've rollbacked my own edit now for expediency, you're welcome to go pop the source in. Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Eminem, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Llacb47 (talk) 06:04, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you think they were constructive. When the article said Eminem broke racial barriers, to give more context, I said rap was traditionally African American for people that didn't know. And I added "left-wing politician" instead of just "politician" to be more specific. How does that violate anything? AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 06:09, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The definition of the word constructive on Google is "serving a useful purpose". I was adding information that some people might find useful. Like that politician being left-wing or rap being traditionally African American. AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 06:15, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Special:MobileDiff/1189176638
in this diff, you were changing the wording of a direct quote. I think it’s pretty common sense that you can’t just change words in a quote that you think sound better. It’s a quote. GraziePrego (talk) 06:22, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why were my other edits reverted? AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 06:23, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My other edits didn't violate any rules and they were constructive. Should be added back AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 06:24, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Eminem&diff=1189175835&oldid=1189112732 The lead paragraph already says "Eminem's global success and acclaimed works are widely regarded as having broken racial barriers for the acceptance of white rappers in popular music.". The reader can understand that rap has been traditionally African-American without your addition, especially given the context of the sentence.
https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Eminem&diff=1189176379&oldid=1189175835 The politician being left-wing is not relevant.
Just looking over your edit history, it looks like most of your edits have been needlessly changing words and other nuisances that aren't making Wikipedia better. Please knock it off. Llacb47 (talk) 06:32, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Some readers still might not know that hip hop is traditionally African American. Some might think it's Mexican. why do you care so much if I just add one sentence in an article. I literally don't know why you're making it a big deal. And the politician being left-wing is a big thing since the homophobic section is political AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 06:39, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@GraziePrego I just read the new York times article. And Eminem says he's more mature when it comes to talking bad about women. It doesnt say when it comes down to homophobia. Now that I read the new York times article, the quote should change and it shouldn't be a quote anymore because he wasn't even talking about homophobia. AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 06:43, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure how else to explain this to you, but you can’t change words in a quote, or it isn’t a quote anymore. Stop edit warring. GraziePrego (talk) 07:52, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I changed the quote and removed the quotation marks because that quote was from the time he was asked about misogyny. Not homophobia. Not sure how else to explain this to you but why is a quote should his misogynistic lyrics in the homophobic section AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 07:54, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Typo, I meant why is a quote addressing his misogynistic lyrics in the homophobic section. Also I'm edit warring because when I tell you something on the talk page, you guys take 500 hours to respond AwesomeJewishMan446 (talk) 07:56, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
