Amazon

Review the additional matter that I have added. I added the matter from www.amazon.com site. Is it not a reliable source..?? International Scientist (talk) 07:18, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

No Amazon is a sales site, its purpose is to sell things, not provide independent, verified, information (see WP:RSPAMAZON). The fact that something or someone exists, does not make it/them WP:Notable enough for inclusion in our articles.
Furthermore, your addition at English Wikipedia was solely vandalism, even if you had cited a WP:Reliable source - Arjayay (talk) 09:32, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

Grootslang

Why did you remove my example. - Patagomaia 09:33, 25 Sepetember 2014 (UTC)

Hi Patagomaia - as my edit summary stated "Unsourced + unlinked" - the reader has no idea if it is true or not, and cannot look at a reference, or click on a link to another article to obtain further information. - Arjayay (talk) 08:37, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

Redundant pleonasms

Thank you for your edit summary, introducing me to the the word pleonasm. signed, Willondon (talk) 21:09, 29 September 2024 (UTC)

No trouble Willondon - are there any other words that that you would like an introduction to ? ;-) - best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 21:12, 29 September 2024 (UTC)

About mehsi

I updated the details in complete sections but you revert all the changes... please revert to my version as it was most updated 46.185.168.59 (talk) 22:51, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

Your additions were totally unsourced and malformatted, so cannot be re-added. - Arjayay (talk) 22:54, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
How it is malformed??
Can u give examples? 46.185.168.35 (talk) 22:57, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
You can do one thing keep all the data which i updated and make the formatting correct 46.185.168.35 (talk) 22:59, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
I belong to that place and what i write it's all in a book and present in that location 46.185.168.35 (talk) 23:00, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
I could correct all your misused text size, bold etc. but there is no point until your additions are properly referenced. - Arjayay (talk) 23:03, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
How you can say that my additions are not properly referred, i only corrected the way and explained that ,if u need to verify the distances u can use google maps ,if u need to verify the area u can use the eastchamparan official website or bihar government websites. Or if u even can't verify anything let me know which point u want to know i will provide you the exact reference for that
But you will revert my all changes 46.185.168.35 (talk) 23:08, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
No, IP from Jordan, as I have already explained, your additions were totally unsourced, so cannot be re-added to the article. Your edits deleted 4 references and added none whatsoever.
Wikipedia is not interested in who you are, where you are from, what you "know", or even what you have found out.
Wikipedia is only interested in what has already been published in reliable, independent sources published by a body with a reputation for fact-checking - No blogs, no self-published sources, no bodies with a conflict of interest, no promotional sites.
These sources must be properly cited in order to support any information added to, or changed in our pages, so the information can be verified as true in the future.
It is NOT up to me, any other editor, or the reader, to find sources, or add references for you. The responsibility for providing citations is solely on whoever adds or changes any information.
You failed to do this, which is why your edits have been, and will continue to be, reverted, until you do add proper references.
Please see Help:Referencing for beginners for the "how to" guide. - Arjayay (talk) 10:26, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

external opinion on edit

Hello Arjayay, I've noticed you corrected a spelling error on the latest NewJeans section. Thank you. If you have the time I would like to know your opinion in the current discussion regarding that very section. Cinemaandpolitics (talk) 16:04, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

Sorry Cinemaandpolitics, after getting involved at Ladies' Code and Shinee, I have deliberately steered clear of K-Pop and J-Pop discussions. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 16:32, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
Fair enough, thank you for answering. Cinemaandpolitics (talk) 16:35, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi IP from Malaysia, LubanaPB02 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) has been blocked indefinitely, and almost all his edits have been reverted. There have been a large number of major edits, with additional references, to Ranjit Singh since then. I hope the problem(s) have been resolved. If not please bring them up at Talk:Ranjit Singh, so other editors can join in. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 16:43, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

Article description correction

Thanks for informing me about article descriptions--that no description is preferable when the title is sufficiently descriptive. I was editing on mobile and so could not see the comment. Now I know not to add redundant descriptions in the future. Voyagingtalk 11:30, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

Clarification on the use of Sri Vijaya Puram instead of the colonial 'Port Blair'

I agree that we must use the Common name for places and not the official name. However, the aforementioned 'common name' is one which has direct colonial origins. In order to promote inclusivity, and self-determination, we must recognize native names. Given Wikipedia's cultural status, a change to the native name (official name) will allow it to become the common name. SubtoTechyLox (talk) 03:07, 13 October 2024 (UTC)

TechyLox, please do not change your user-name immediately after asking a question.
I am glad you "agree that we must use the Common name for places and not the official name", as WP:COMMONNAME is part of Wikipedia:Article titles which is a policy, not just a guideline, so there is nothing for us to discuss.
As for your attempt to sidestep the policy, Wikipedia is not the place for "Righting great wrongs" as WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS states "You might think that Wikipedia is a great place to set the record straight and right great wrongs, but that is absolutely not the case." - Arjayay (talk) 11:13, 13 October 2024 (UTC)

How could you do this?

You wrote on 173.63.0.217's talk page: "if you vandalize Wikipedia again,... you may be blocked from editing without further notice." If you look at 173.63.0.217's talk, you'll see that they are non-responsive to repeated threats to block their editing for cause. I think the time has come for this, but I don't know how to do it, or I would have. Would you please?

They need to create an account, learn how to edit, and behave as appropriate for a Wikipedia editor. Larry Koenigsberg (talk) 22:04, 14 October 2024 (UTC)

Notable White Mountain Artists

Why are you deleting Notable White Mountain Artists from White Mountain Art? You deleted one of the best known, Frank Henry Shapleigh. And, why are you removing external links from those who do not have Wiki pages? What do you know about this subject? JJ (talk) 16:20, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

Hello User:JohnJHenderson
Wikipedia is not interested in what you "know" about a subject, nor even what I "don't know" about that subject, only what has already been published by independent, reliable sources with an established reputation for fact-checking
Looking at your talk page - you state "Please see my site at http://whitemountainart.com/." you have, therefore, a clear conflict of interest in promoting your own website, by adding links to that website, promotional links which I deleted. Furthermore, Wikipedia does not allow External links in body text in any case, please see WP:EL specifically WP:ELLIST.
You also added a totally unacceptable statement "Please don't add names to this list without "talking" to JohnJHenderson at http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:JohnJHenderson" " - Nobody WP:OWNS an article, and nobody needs your permission to edit it, so I deleted that as well.
Only "notable" people should be added to lists, hence the hidden text statement "Please review guidelines for Notable people at http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_%28people%29" and the standard method of proving that someone is "notable" is their having a Wikipedia article. There is a standard warning template Template:Uw-badlistentry which covers contraventions of this, and there is a standard hidden text for use in the article, which I have just added, along with deleting the entries without articles.
Given your conflict of interest (see above) please do not edit that article again, but suggest changes, with references to WP:Reliable sources (not your website) on the articles talk page.
If you think there are artists that meet Wikipedia's article inclusion criteria and "deserve" an article, please create these and have them accepted before re-adding their names to that page , Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 19:04, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

Edit

Brother, you messaged my talk page. I want you to edit that draft Hill Top Educational Institute as I am in ammature editor and I don't know a lot about wiki Syed Shahzaman1 (talk) 15:45, 21 October 2024 (UTC)

Syed Shahzaman1 There are more than 1.5 million schools in India,[1], and very few of them have a Wikipedia article, because most are not WP:Notable, in Wikipedia's meaning of the word.
The first thing you must do is show that the school is WP:Notable. To do that you must provide three different sources of information about Hill Top Educational Institute that are:-
  1. Extensive - not just passing mentions or inclusions in lists, but extensive coverage - a lengthy newspaper article, a magazine article, or several pages in a book
    And
  2. Independent - not anything published by the school, or anything based on press releases issued by the school, or based on the schools website or social media
    And
  3. Reliable - published by a body with a recognized reputation for fact-checking
Please note all three sources must meet all three criteria
If you can provide three such sources, to show that the school is notable, we can look at creating an article, but until then, there is nothing to base an article on - Arjayay (talk) 16:12, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
Where to upload those Syed Shahzaman1 (talk) 16:15, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
https://stackschools.com/schools/01191101803/hiltop-educational-institute
Hi Syed Shahzaman1 provide the links at Draft talk:Hill Top Educational Institute, making sure they meet all three criteria. - Arjayay (talk) 16:20, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
Can we consider this link
This school is affiliated with govt of India under UDISE NO. 01191101803 Syed Shahzaman1 (talk) 16:20, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
That is not a link, and AFAIK it is just a government list, not extensive coverage from an independent source. - Arjayay (talk).

Oogenesis

I get the sense it may be students somewhere(likely minors) editing as part of a class. 331dot (talk) 09:28, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

Agreed 331dot but it is poorly organized/uncontrolled - I thought projects were supposed to have an organizer? They are even worse at Cleavage (embryo) - mass copyvios and unsourced additions - hence my request at WP:RPP - Arjayay (talk) 09:35, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
Many things are supposed to happen that don't. :) Even if WP:WEP is well advertised (which I'm not sure) people still might not be aware of it. 331dot (talk) 09:48, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
Agreed again 331dot (I'm rarely this agreeable) - as seen here they are adding lists of "edited by" names. - Arjayay (talk) 10:00, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi Arjayay, apologies for reverting you. I misread the diffs so reverted my revert. S0091 (talk) 18:33, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

List of thunder gods: rename

Hello, sorry to bother you. I picked you at random from the revision history of the ""List of thunder gods" page because I wanted to get some input on the last topic I added on the talk page, about renaming the page. May I ask for your opinion on the matter? Thank you in advance and have a nice day! --Karama20 (talk) 18:42, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

Happy First Edit Day!

I have made some significant changes to the article, but I am not sure, if everything is good, can you please review the article once?

Thank you in advance! Zuck28 (talk) 14:25, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi Zuck28 both the "Campus" and "Academic programmes" sections need references. Additionally, I'm not sure the "Learning methods" paragraph is notable enough to include, as it is no different to almost any other college . - Arjayay (talk) 15:18, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for the guidance. I have removed the non-notable part and added the references to the sections you mentioned.
Zuck28 (talk) 16:14, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
Also, if you have some time, could you please review this page I created Jumana Abdu Rahman
Thanks again!
Zuck28 (talk) 16:42, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
Hi Zuck28 - I'm not a checking service, but from a quick look at Jumana Abdu Rahman please read and follow WP:LASTNAME and we do not normally include non-notable awards - i.e. awards without their own Wikipedia article - but I can't remember where that guideline is. - Arjayay (talk) 17:09, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

Excessive reverting

Hi,

While I appreciate your commitment to fighting vandalism, you didn't even try and let me add sources to the Gordon the Big Engine article. You instantly reverted it; your last revision caused an edit conflict and the redirect to miss out on sources that didn't exist before it was deleted.

Please be more careful in future.

Thanks, Apollo 2A02:C7C:2DCE:1F00:7141:961B:60B2:D440 (talk) 21:46, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gordon the Big Engine where the consensus was that it should be a redirect - you would need to overturn that decision before even trying to recreate an article - Arjayay (talk) 21:48, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
may I see the policy that says I need to overturn a decision instead of just.. I don't know.. recreating it with better sources that weren't in the old article? 2A02:C7C:2DCE:1F00:7141:961B:60B2:D440 (talk) 21:50, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
Arjayay, excuse me joining this discussion. @2A02:C7C:2DCE:1F00:7141:961B:60B2:D440: take a look at Wikipedia:Deletion review which is what you need to follow if you want to change the outcome of an Articles for deletion discussion. Best, Opolito (talk) 23:10, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
I never said I wanted to reverse the outcome of the discussion. I wanted to create the article again, using better sourcing. The AfD was a few years ago, and new sources have appeared that did not exist back then. I would like to do that, but right now I've had a string of edits reverted repeatedly, and I don't want to get warned or blocked. 2A02:C7C:2DCE:1F00:7141:961B:60B2:D440 (talk) 23:17, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
The decision was to delete the article. If you want to recreate the article with new sources, you are asking to reverse that decision. So you need to follow Wikipedia:Deletion review which says "Deletion review may be used... if significant new information has come to light since a deletion that would justify recreating the deleted page" - which is exactly the case here. Opolito (talk) 00:03, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for stepping in Opolito - I had to stop early last night - I couldn't have explained the situation better - thanks again - Arjayay (talk) 09:54, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

Soviet ship Stary Bolshevik

Hi, You rolled back my edits today to my edits yesterday (I have a dynamic IP), although I cited the sources. Why? --88.200.199.19 (talk) 16:25, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

Apologies for that 88.200.199.19 looking back through the log, I was trying to revert the edit to Michael Oliver (referee) immediately before yours in the Recent changes list (I remember being confused later that it had not been reverted). I suspect the "Live update" option shunted the list down, just as I clicked on revert, but I should have checked - so apologies again - I have reverted myself - Arjayay (talk) 16:34, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
Thank you. --88.200.199.19 (talk) 16:45, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

The immediate, 'only warning' templates

Hi, Arjayay. I am totally with you about the unsourced content added by the guy at Limbu people, and would support a block at his next unsourced edit. One minor issue regarding templating: the Multi-level templates like {{uw-unsourced1}} through {{uw-unsourced4}} end at their last enumerated digit (usually -4, sometimes -3). The *-im template is not the one that comes after *-4, it is used immediately with no preceding warning template when a user's behavior is so egregious that they do not merit any of the 1 to 4 sequence of increasingly serious template warnings, instead you skip them all and go straight to the *-im template, which says: "This is your only warning...". Not a big deal, but thought I should point it out.

Fwiw, when I see someone ignoring a series of warnings and carrying blithely along on the same path, I always consider whether it is possible that they might be unaware of any of the messages, which is the case with some people using the mobile interface. If they are, you can see it in a tag in the history, although I am still trying to work out exactly which tags imply they do not see the warnings and thus cannot react. In the case of this editor, none of those tags are present, and unless there is some other impediment to seeing them that I am not aware of, they should have seen them by now. (I suppose it's possible they turned off notifications of Talk page messages in their Preferences, but seems extremely unlikely for such a new editor.) Cheers, Mathglot (talk) 21:22, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

About Gaurav Devasi Page

Gaurav Devasi is a regional cinema actor about whom a lot of information is available on Google. He also has a Google panel. His data has been tampered with by some unknown person due to which we are facing difficulty in creating the biography of the correct person.

Instead of targeting him for removal yourself, please help in bringing this artist to Wikipedia.

As it is necessary for all notable persons to be on Wikipedia, this artist is also demanding his rights. 223.189.93.106 (talk) 11:53, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

@Arjayay: You reverted my changes which had both sources with range. The revision you reverted to had range with two source pinkvilla and bollywoodhungama source but with same ref tag "<ref name="bo">" and it caused only one source to be seen repeated twice. In my last revision, I fixed this error. You will have to remove the ref name tag from one of the source. RangersRus (talk) 00:20, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Proposed Improvements to the "Mitra surname" Page

I’d like to discuss some proposed improvements to the "Mitra surname" page. After reviewing the content, I believe there are several areas that could benefit from additional information and clarification

I would like to draw attention on the use of Mitra surname by various other castes in Bengal like betel cultivators who are not visvamitra gotra. Secondly, Geographical spread of Mitra surname is not accurate in this page it is solely represents as Bengali surname But it is widely used by Arora- khatri community in punjab. And it would be nice to add the use of Mitra surname among parsi community along with shedding some light on the Mitharaic community worshiping the Iranian god Mithra. And it would be great to add on how Mitra as a last name is traditionally used by Brahmins. Eg- visvamitra, pushyamitra, Agnimitra. India is culturally diverse nation and inclusivity is in its morals from the very day of its creation and I would like Wikipedia to reflect the same when it's dealing with any topic related to indian cultural Heritage. Eclipsing the identity of any community would be against the very moral spirit of our nation.

I believe these updates will make the page more informative and valuable to readers. I would be happy to help research and contribute content, but I welcome any feedback on these suggestions and would love to collaborate on improving this page.

Thank you for considering this! 2409:4065:D08:655C:0:0:1E4B:3E0A (talk) 06:33, 10 November 2024 (UTC)

Answered at Talk:Mitra (surname). Please keep the conversation there. - Arjayay (talk) 12:26, 10 November 2024 (UTC)

Heading Change

I changed the heading in the article "White Mountain Art" from 'Notable White Mountain Artists" to "Well-known White Mountain Artists". I feel "well-known" is more descriptive than "Notable". Why did you revert my edit? Who is to say what is a better heading? JJ (talk) 21:46, 10 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi JJ, "Notable" is the standard term used across Wikipedia - look at any city article and there will probably be a list of "Notable people", or university article will have "Notable alumni", etc. This all derives from Wikipedia's principle of WP:Notability. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 10:03, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
