Happy New Year, Alison!
Alison,
Have a prosperous, productive and enjoyable New Year, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. –Davey2010 Merry Xmas / Happy New Year 11:56, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

In 2009, you fully-protected this disambiguation page.
Please consider reducing the protection to pending-changes or semi-protection (or both) and putting an expiration date on it (I suggest 1 year - if there is no attempted abuse during that time then let it expire).

Hello
Hi Alison, I just had a conversation with User:Wbm1058 and he suggested I contact a Checkuser. Yours was the first name on the list so I am writing to you first. Karmanyevadhikarste...
Hi ! I had created this page. After creation of page someone had added that "Please translate this page in 2 weeks, after that we delete it." After this notice I had done some translation work in that page. After translation someone put that page in Speedy deletion and an admin deleted that page. Because first person have given me 2 week's time. So I was doing my translation work slowly. This was the point one. Second point is I want to create that page again see here and guide me about content. Third point is someone putted my commentary under copyright violation test. So please tell me how that text was under copyright violation ? And is this commentary under copyright violation ? NehalDaveND (talk) 09:33, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Tor Ekeland
Hello, Alison. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "Tor Ekeland".
In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply and remove the {{db-afc}}

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Anonymouspoutateoh (talk) 05:16, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
Howdy Alison. There's been concerns raised about the neutrality of an Rfc at List of state leaders in 2016. Was wonder if you would review this & consider closing the Rfc - with freedom to make your own judgement on how it should be closed, of course :) GoodDay (talk) 19:53, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

I know nothing about Wikipedia and how to format properly; however, I was just stopping by to say hello. My name is Josh and I'm 24 years old, from Cleveland, Ohio.
I am just stopping by because I learned you have been editing Wikipedia for over 10 years, and I want to commend you for that.
I've seen the ignorant-assed people here so this is not an easy job I'm sure.
At any rate, take care, hope to hear back from you. :)

Hi Alison, I have a question about if it's possible to get some help finding out the IP-address of a specific user name? I am quite new here and I have built a new article (Anders Grahn). And the thing is that one person has tried to destroy it for about 6 times already. The user is putting ”fun names” and stories in the text. Nothing violent though, just some kind of "vandalism". So, is it possible to find out who that person is? Or should I just continue to clean up the article?
Do you have any tips how to make things like this stop?

Wiki Loves Pride 2016
As a participant of WikiProject LGBT studies, you are invited to participate in the third annual Wiki Loves Pride campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT culture and history. How can you help?
- Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work here
- Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
- Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)
Looking for topics? The Tasks page, which you are welcome to update, offers some ideas and wanted articles.
This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome! If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page.
Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:43, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Paid advocacy / COI?
The images added to Wikipedia and pushed by Peter Isotalo in Bra were not just uploaded by him, but were paid for by a swedish government agency looking to support a certain POV. See this posting. Is this paid advocacy/COI? It's one thing to add the images to Wikipedia and let others use them. It's quite another to push them on articles - not because they are good images, but because they are by design meant to push a POV and paid for by a government org. Hey Alison, there's a situation developing with edits to Caster Semenya and Dutee Chand pages by this user. I've made 3 reverts to the Caster Semenya page as part of that situation due to WP:BLP violations. If you're able to take a look I would appreciate it. Thank you! Trankuility (talk) 13:39, 18 August 2016 (UTC)
- Trankuility - If you're that concerned about a situation developing, why did you revert me on the Dutee Chand article, with the comment "WP:NPOV not evident in edit summary" ? Personally, I revert content, based on the actual content. Are you reverting me, based on not liking my edit summary? Seriously? Spacecowboy420 (talk) 13:54, 18 August 2016 (UTC)
- The edit summary clearly explained your rationale. Trankuility (talk) 13:57, 18 August 2016 (UTC)
- I removed " She is one of four daughters born to the poor weaver couple. " from the article. Look at the edit, not the edit summary or the editor. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 13:59, 18 August 2016 (UTC)
- And I have restored that edit and provided references. Please bear in mind that WP:BLP doesn't just apply to article content. There's a reason edit summaries get redacted around here. Mocking subjects like that is just a shitty thing to do as a human being anyways - Alison ❤ 01:53, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- Why would "hahaha. NO" in an edit summary, be subject to anything to do with BLP? Why would you think that you saying that I'm doing something "shitty" is any less offensive, than me saying "hahaha. NO"? BTW. The source you provided didn't mention her parent's occupation or the family's poverty - that's what I wanted to remove. Well, that and the poor English " She is one of four daughters born to the poor weaver couple" (the content you restored) was not correct in the context of that paragraph. If you had asked me why I had removed that content, I would have told you. Surely stating that someone came from a poor family, without any supporting source, is a BLP violation? Spacecowboy420 (talk) 06:41, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- Your edit history, including times and order, is recorded on your "Contributions" page, Spacecowboy420, here. Trankuility (talk) 07:51, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. I was actually aware of that, but I appreciate the effort to provide useful tips. Or was there a point that you were trying to make? Spacecowboy420 (talk) 08:18, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Alison. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:47, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! And I keep finding more. Would you please weigh in on this at the sock investigation page? For example, your opinion on the checkuser data and/or the behavioral evidence? More BLP hijinks at Alicia Mochado
This. This guy wants to changed "gained too much weight", which itself is messed up to begin with (see my comment), to "swelled". As in "this living person swelled in weight". Marteau is clearly not here to build an encyclopedia (and it's mostly his edits that had to be rev del'ed) just to use it to attack people.
At the very least this guy needs a BLP warning... wait, he's already had one [1].Volunteer Marek (talk) 15:55, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- "Swelled" was the term the source (The Washington Post) used. The post did not say "gained too much weight. That you consider my removing the subjective phrase "too much" and substituting what the source actually said meriting a BLP warning is ludicrous. Marteau (talk) 20:26, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
- The source used "swelled" to describe the ridiculous coverage of the phenomenon in tabloid press, it did not use the word as a description of what happened. Are you honestly going to pretend that a mainstream newspaper would use "swelled" to describe someone gaining weight? You knew this too, because it was pointed out to you. You're also wanting to put in crap about "rumors began to spread".Volunteer Marek (talk) 06:08, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
- The source used the term, and not to "describe the ridiculous coverage". You are projecting an intent that is simply not there in the source. They used it unironically and used it to describe her gain. To "swell" means "to become larger"... there is nothing pejorative about it despite your bizarre hang up about the word. I simply do not understand why you are going on and on and on and ON about this... I was willing to drop the matter upon first objection of anyone and did not pursue this word's inclusion any further after first objection, but you keep harping on this, and I'm not sure why, but you genuinely seem to have become unhinged about this and other matters with the encyclopedia and I sincerely recommend a long Wikibreak. Marteau (talk) 06:24, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
- Is English your first language? Because I don't know where you have obtained this idea that the term "swell" is bad... it is actually a common medical term. I encourage you to go to Google, and put "weight swelled" into it (with the quotes, to capture the phrase). It will demonstrate that the word is not a pejorative, it is not outrageous, and it is actually a mainstream term. Marteau (talk) 06:35, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Alison.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:46, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Because of the edit summary [2] for BLP reasons. And yes, he's being cute about it, basically using another editor's comment to sneak in an inappropriate insult/BLP violation.Volunteer Marek (talk) 16:37, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

Curiouser and curiouser
This is pretty outrageous and mighty suspicious. Please read my comment at the bottom. What do you think?

- Hi Robert. And Nollaig shona dhuitse, freisin! :) I'm not sure what's going on there, but I reverted it for now. The IP traces to some Singaporean mobile IP, as do some of the others on that article. I'm largely retired, but I'll keep a watch here. For now, I'd say just ignore. You've certainly done nothing wrong here - Alison ❤ 07:31, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- I know but I figured I should show you. It's just such a weird, bizarre thing (like something from the bad old days) to come from out of nowhere. Singapore, huh -- I don't think I have any enemies on that continent, but the world is getting smaller!! :) Quis separabit? 07:37, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- Will always be grateful for your help. Thanks for seeing something redeeming in me. I spend so much time on Wikipedia that my brother and my best friend are constantly assailing me. Now that I am not working, it gives me something to do and a feeling of worth.Irish language version of the above courtesy of Google.com/translate is:
An mbeidh a bheith i gcónaí buíoch as do chabhair. Go raibh maith agat as féachaint rud redeeming i dom. chaitheamh mé an oiread sin ama ar Vicipéid go mo dheartháir agus mo chara is fearr ag assailing gcónaí dom. Anois nach bhfuil mé ag obair, tugann sé rud éigin a dhéanamh agus a mothú ar fiú dom.

Checkuser input needed
Came to you after picking some random entries at Special:Listusers with CU selected. Is there a CU noticeboard? I would have gone there, rather than coming to you (and a few other random CUs) directly, if I could have found anything beyond the clerks' page.
Would you please visit Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2016 December 8 and offer input in the {{IPsockCheckuser}} section? It was nominated on the grounds of "This exposes Checkuser info to non-Checkusers", which makes sense, but on the other hand it's been around since 2008, so if it's truly a violation, it probably would have been deleted by now. I've voted "keep until we hear from some CUs", so hearing from you would be helpful. Thanks!
Finally, a bit that I didn't include in the above message, which I copy/pasted to four other CUs' pages — your editnotice uses File:Emails.jpg, which was deleted in early 2015. Nyttend (talk) 13:11, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
