Templates
I have a question regarding the use of templates. I tried to find mention of them as being required. You recently commented that in aircraft articles, templates were "required" and I cannot find that stipulation. As far as I can tell, templates are available and can be accomodated but are not mandated as the way to cite references. There are cataloguing conventions already in place in the literary world that cover all contingencies and the use of the Wikipedia templates has a form of limitations, since they invariably prescribe the APA Style which is not the "standard" for literary works. Most books utilize the MLA (Modern Language Association) guide which is more complete and adaptable, compared to the APA guide. Bzuk 6:12 1 February 2007 (UTC).
Reply to reply
Thanks for the prompt reply to my query. One of the problems I have with the Wikipedia entries is the constant reliance on templates where they are not required. IMHO, the Wikipedia template is a template for those who cannot "scratch" catalog on their own and is based on the (American Psychological Association) APA use for psychology, education, nursing and other social sciences. The APA style is typically used in colleges and universities as a "short" guide to references for research students. One thing that is introduced is that the date of publication is placed within the author note and not with the publication which is a bit awkward.
The style that I employ is based on the MLA (Modern Language Association) use for literature, arts and humanities which is the "standard" reference and citaiton guide for the majority of written work. Almost all publishing houses use this style with a variation called the "Chicago style."
FYI My other problem is that I have a background stemming from 35+ years as a librarian and due my ancient teachings, I had gone through rigorous training for cataloguing and reference works. As you can visualize, I am an old fossil but I have in my last few years, been able to adopt newer technology. My last assignment in a high school library was eye-opening as my library technician and I simply downloaded MARC (Machine-Accesible Record Control) information from library collections where the questionable book was already cataloged. What a joy, simply copy someone else's cataloguing and paste it into our data base. To me that is like the "template" system but it isn't always the best way. I did have to resort at times to doing my own cataloguing to correct errors. (:> Bzuk 24:47 1 February 2007 (UTC).
Avro Arrow
Hi Mr. Aerobird, Thanks for your help on all the aircraft projects to which I have submitted my pittance of knowledge. BTW, I wonder if you could take a look at the Avro CF-105 Arrow discussion page. It seems to have degraded into a discussion over the relative merits of the decision to cancel the Arrow. However, there is an editor that has been compelled to take the discussion into a bizarre turn. He actually backs up his own opinion with comments from an unknown IP address that can be traced back to... him? I don't need anyone to intercede except for maybe an administrator but take a look and give me your opinion. Bzuk 04:39 4 March 2007 (UTC).

An important letter
Dear roads editor,
You may have noticed some changes at WP:USRD lately. Some of them, like the cleanup templates and the stub templates, have been astounding and great. Unfortunately, others have been disturbing.
This has become evidenced by the departure of a few prominent editors at USRD, a few RFC's, and much fighting among USRD editors.
After the second RFC, many of us found the opportunity to take a step away from Wikipedia for a while--as a self-imposed wikibreak, or possibly on vacation.
The result of such introspection was that many of us were placing ourselves in a "walled garden" and on a self-imposed pedestal of authority over the roads department. Also, we were being hostile to a few users who were not agreeing with us.
In fact, IRC has been the main incarnation of this "walled garden." Decisions have been made there to conduct grudges and prejudices against a few valued USRD users with poor justification.
For this, we have come to apologize. We have come to ask your forgiveness.
In addition to this, we hope to work as one USRD team from now on and to encourage cooperation instead of the promotion of interests.
All users are welcome to collaborate on IRC, the newsletter, or anywhere else at USRD.
In the future, please feel free to approach us about any issues you may have.

USRD Inactivity check and news report
Hello, Aerobird. We had a few urgent matters to communicate to you:
- Please update your information at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Participants, our new centralized participant list. Those who have not done so by October 20th will be removed.
- There are important discussions taking place at WT:USRD relating to whether WP:USRD, WP:HWY, or the state projects should hold the "power" in the roads projects.

Proposed merge
I want to merge the Northrop YA-13, Northrop XA-16 and Northrop A-33 into the Northrop A-17 article. At the same time I plan to update it with at least two other sources. And I plan to leave redirects in the old article's places. I fully expect the final article to meet B-class criteria. Please give a pro or con on the talk page. Eurofighter Image
Hey! I was reading the article on the Eurofighter and found your image of Eurofigher operators (left) the very helpful. However, in the article, it lists Greece as having ordered a dozen Eurofighters, but it isn't blue in the image. Can you fix that? [I'd fix it myself, but I don't know how :-( ] Thanks! WP:RUSSIA roll call and your input required
Privet. You are receiving this message as you were listed on the membership list of WP:RUSSIA at Wikipedia:WikiProject Russia/Members. Recent times has seen minimal activity within WikiProject Russia, and there is an attempt to re-invigorate the project and have it become more organised into a fully-fledge functioning project, with the aim of increasing the quality of Russia-related articles across English wikipedia.
As we don't know which listed members are active within the project and Russia-related article, all listed members are receiving this message, and are requested to re-affirm their active status on Russia-related article by re-adding their username to Wikipedia:WikiProject Russia/Members by adding:
# {{User|YOURUSERNAME}}
to the membership list. You may also like to place {{User Russian Project}} on your userpage, as this will also place you in Category:WikiProject Russia members.
There is also an active proposal on the creation of a single WP:RUSSIA project. The proposal can be viewed at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Russia#Proposal_for_overhaul_and_creation_of_a_single_WP:RUSSIA_project, and your comments and suggestions are welcomed and encouraged at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Russia/Proposal.

The article County Road 370 (Franklin County, Florida) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- non-notable county highway that does not pass the WP:GNG or USRD notability guidelines as a standalone article.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. AdmrBoltz 00:55, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
