Localism camp

I do not see there is a consensus reached in the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Localism camp. Although there are more users wanted to keep the article, but it was not a vote count and they did not give sufficient reasons for that. I urge to reconsider your decision to think that the decision was to keep the article. Lmmnhn (talk) 14:55, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

I do think you misread it. If you read carefully User:sirlanz agrees with my points. Lmmnhn (talk) 15:19, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
I think I cannot understand what Lmmnhn said. I voted after I had thought carefully, and it is impossible to reconsider with no new grounds for the argument. Wikipedia is not a nursery school. hoising (talk) 16:27, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
"Remember that while AfD may look like a voting process, it does not operate like one." (See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion). The discussion died off but there was not a consensus reached., let alone "reconsidering" it. Lmmnhn (talk) 16:31, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Having participated in over 600 AfDs + 200 NACs; trust me - I know that already. You have to look at rest of the arguments also. Tell me - what do you want? Me to open the AfD? Do you guarantee a different outcome? If you do, then I will open it - else lets not waste time please. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 16:39, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

I thought I had "voted" by stating that I support lmmnhn's recommendation. I'd appreciate an education (from Arun Kumar SINGH, perhaps) in what I was supposed to do to make my vote count. Naturally, accept that this is a democratic system and the majority prevail, though, unfortunately, the quality of the Keep arguments was poor. sirlanz 04:14, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

  • sirlanz, that's your opinion that arguments of others was poor. Same can be said about your argument too. If you two people are confident about a different outcome, say so for me to open it or take it to DRV. Stop getting to personal and touchy about one failed AfD attempt. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 07:39, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
As I said above, there was no consensus reached in the discussion, except the decision you imposed upon, let alone that would be a "different outcome". Lmmnhn (talk) 09:22, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

Arun, your comments in this thread and the one above give me concern that you have treated closing these AFDs as a vote counting exercise, by looking for how many times the word "keep" and "delete" are written in bold font and paying less attention to the comments that are written. I have commented on this at the WP:AN thread, so I am letting you know in case you are not watching over there. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 07:51, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

user:AKS.9955 is a non-admin and acted ultra vires in closing the discussion, being in (1) plain breach of Wikipedia:Non-admin closure and (2) obviously not having bothered to read what was written (failed (on his own account) to see that I had written in support) and (3) failing to exclude himself from arbitrating a field in which he has no competence (i.e. Chinese language and Hong Kong politics). The matter requires an admin decision as a matter of proper procedure and WP integrity. sirlanz 13:45, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

  • sirlanz, you took the matter to WP:AN (here) and were told by multiple editors that the closure was apt. As I said earlier, I can open the AfD again provided you guarantee a different outcome. If you, yourself are not convinced about a different outcome, then you are wasting everyone's time. What right do you have to talk about "competence" of other editors and what articles should they be editing? Are you suggesting that you only edit HK or related articles? Be civil, refrain from personal attacks and harassing fellow editors. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 14:03, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
  • AKS.9955 declines to deal (substantively or at all) with matters of substance, i.e. the three objections to his carrying out a non-admin closure; all we hear is a diversion into wounded pride diatribe. Was the action ultra vires or not? That's the matter at hand, a matter of real substance to WP good governance, so let's get on with it. sirlanz 14:35, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Galboda Gnanissara Thera

The article Galboda Gnanissara Thera you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Galboda Gnanissara Thera for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Hi Arun! Bluemoonset has basically done the needed as I was not active then. The above message comes from a bot and I assume they just pick the first reviewer's name from GA review page. We don't have any separate withdrawn conclusion. The procedures call for failing it which is what Bluemoonset did. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 04:09, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

Opinion on notability

Hello Arun, I'd like to ask your opinion on the notability of Tushar Gandhi. Do you think this is a case of inherited notability due to his family history? I cannot see much that makes him independently notable as an author, politician or businessman. I'd appreciate hearing what you think. Thanks, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 07:38, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

  • Hello AtHomeIn神戸, I know this person very well. His only claim to fame is that he is the great grandson of Gandhi. He is an aspiring politician; not an office bearer currently. There was a similar case of an Afd (Albert Einstein's son) that I closed and merged the article into Einstein family page. Perhaps we can review Tushar's page similarly, but there is a difference. Tushar is very widely covered by independent and reliable sources (see point 3 in WP:NPOL); so I am not sure what can be done in this case. What do you think? Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 08:51, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
    • Thanks for taking a look. There are several sources in the article, but I am not sure it is what I would call wide coverage. The first reference is a blog written in March 2013, which looks like it was largely copied from the March 2013 version of the Wiki article. The second and third references are really passing mentions of Tushar and more concerned with the remains of his great grandfather, particularly the second reference. The fourth and sixth links are dead and the fifth is about his marketing plan; not exactly coverage about him as a biographical subject. There are three external links; the first is about him entering politics and the others are dead links. So to be honest, I cannot see the "significant coverage" that is necessary for WP:NPOL. Jacob Cass

Hi AKS.9955. Just wanted to let you know that Jacob Cass has been recreated. Since you were the editor who nominated it deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jacob Cass, I am wondering if you wouldn't mind taking a look at it to see if has been improved since the AfD. I have tagged it for speedy deletion per WP:G4, but if you think it should be kept or should be rediscussed at another AfD, then please remove the speedy tag and let me know. For reference, the account that created is only a day old and made a handful of unrelated edits before recreating the article. I'm not sure if that means anything, but you did mention something about "paid editing" in your AfD nomination. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:12, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:57, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Intex

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Intex requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Thegreatgrabber (talk) contribs 04:16, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Oooooooohhh... On the Video Tip. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Whpq (talk) 16:53, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

New Page Reviewer

Hello AKS.9955. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as mark pages as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:28, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

This tag and this tag do not inspire confidence. Do you see what you are doing wrong in these cases? ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 16:12, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, AKS.9955. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello AKS.9955,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 807 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

Can you?

I was happy with you showing up a new article Indian paisa, but Indian paisa is an article to show up info/content about Indian paisa only. To add former coins like pie and anna, use Coins of the Indian rupee article, I'm sure you can develop the article "Coins of the Indian rupee" where former coins are already added, you mad develop the article.
While Paisa/Poisha is a general unit between 5 countries, the Paisa article shall have 1 image of all countries each. While the article Indian paisa shall have all the Indian paisa photos (which I've already added). Only add the Indian paisa coins in the Indian paisa article and add pie/anna to Coins of the Indian rupee article (Coins of the Indian rupee - article has all coins from the start - pie/anna/paisa/rupee coins). Content of the article must go with the title/subject of the article. Thank you. Hydloc009 (talk) 20:57, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
To help improve "Coins of the Indian rupee", you may check the article style of "Coins of the United States dollar". Hydloc009 (talk) 21:03, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

Not vandalism

AKS, Hydloc009's editing on Indian Paisa and elsewhere is extremely disruptive, but it is not vandalism, and you calling it such and leaving templated warnings about vandalism is not helping anybody. If you must leave them templated warnings, use the disruptive editing, or removal of content notices. Furthermore, a "final warning" has no meaning if, when the action is repeated, you follow it up with another final warning, rather than a report to a noticeboard. As far as I can see, you've left them three "final warning" templates about vandalism, and then reported them to ANEW. I'm not defending Hydloc009's editing in the least, but following the correct procedure can help resolve things quickly. Vanamonde (talk) 08:08, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the advice Vanamonde. Its just that I spent a lot of time clicking pictures of coins, researching about them, editing and uploading pictures, then researching about the article and started editing (after putting in-use tag) and this guy is ignoring all warnings and tags and is just blatantly editing the article and causing confusion. Several times, he wasted my time by causing edit-conflict and due frustration, I perhaps ended up doing what I did. Will ensure he is followed-up properly next time. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 08:13, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
  • Well, he seems to have eased off for the time being, and there are now several experienced folks watching his talk page. Let's see how this plays out: if he doesn't change his style, he is liable to end up back at ANEW soon. As I have had a minor dispute with him myself, I cannot legitimately take admin action myself. Vanamonde (talk) 13:36, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

Don't ever make posts that try to tie a user on Wikipedia to an off site account again. Outing editors is not allowed and you can be blocked if it continues to happen. - GB fan 20:14, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

  • GB, ouch. I did not know that. Good you pointed that out. I hope you realize that my intention was not bad. For now, can you please delete my message on the talkpage (I can do it but it will show in the history). Thanks, Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 20:26, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

I'm afraid that good article nominations was the wrong process for this - Featured list candidates is the place for articles that primarily consist of tables. I asked about it at Wikipedia_talk:Good_article_nominations#PSLV-C2, and that appears to be the consensus

That said, as long as you add the contextualization I discussed in the review, it should pass featured list without too much problem - and FL is both a more prestigious (they go on the main page) and quicker process than GA. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 09:21, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Your non-admin close of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oooooooohhh... On the Video Tip

At Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oooooooohhh... On the Video Tip, your close discounted the redirect !votes with a statement that "Point 2 in WP:NALBUM clearly states that albums, singles or recordings are notable if it has appeared on any country's national music chart. The rule is "either-or". You completely disregarded the very start of the guideline which states "All articles on albums, singles or other recordings must meet the basic criteria at the notability guidelines, with significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." I am requesting that you reverse your close and let an administrator close this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Whpq (talkcontribs) 11:47, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, 2016 Russian Defence Ministry Tu-154 crash. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – 2016 Russian Defence Ministry Tupolev Tu-154 crash. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at 2016 Russian Defence Ministry Tupolev Tu-154 crash – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. WWGB (talk) 07:05, 25 December 2016 (UTC)

@AKS.9955: If you look at 2016 Russian Defence Ministry Tupolev Tu-154 crash: Revision history you will see that Admin TParis has done a history merge of your original article and the other article. If you look through the revision history, it should show all your original edits. Has this fixed the problem you raised?-- Toddy1 (talk) 22:03, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

How did you take it upon yourself ...
