== Censorship by BaronLeaf and IanCheeseman ==

I suggest that before you immediately delete my comments about BaronLeaf, you investigate what is going on. I have been posting about threats made by the Mayor and Police Chief of Stevens Point against a motel holding a swingers party.

See:
http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Stevens_Point,_Wisconsin&diff=343103433&oldid=340824310

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Stevens_Point,_Wisconsin#Removal_of_Harassment_by_Mayor_Andrew_Halverson_and_Police_Chief_of_Camp_NCN_Swingers_Group

These posts were well documented from news sources in the Stevens Point area. IanCheeseman kept deleting those posts.

When I kept reinserting IanCheeseman's deletions, BaronLeaf threatened to revoke my editing priviledges for posting "non-neutral material", even thou everything I posted, came form legitimate news sources.

Please review my posts and tell me if you velieve thet were neutral or not. Secondly, what would have been an appropriate way to post them without violating wikipedia quidelines.

Secondly, how do I complain about BaronLeaf's threats to restrict my editing priviledges, when he is the one doing the censoring?

Thank you.Daniel D. Dobson 19:24, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

A PJTF question

What would you think about changing the character infoboxes to list less of the character's family? Say, immediate and demigod family, but not all the gods. I noticed that there has been a lot of changing around on that and since the demigods are almost all related to each other and all of the Greek gods in some way, I don't really think it's necessary to list, for instance, how Percy is related to Ares, Aphrodite, Artemis, Chiron, Kronos, etc. Did that make any sense? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:31, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, definitely a good idea. Don't forget to leave a hidden message to tell people not to re-add them. Airplaneman talk 04:11, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I'm mostly done. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 04:33, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Have you seen this: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters? One more of these and maybe we could get the name protected from recreation until an appropriate time? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 14:20, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's fine now as a redirect, but yea, I'll keep an eye on it. Airplaneman talk 22:12, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, that was the wrong link. What I meant to link was this: Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters. Sorry! Oh, and I've done both of the redirects already. Take a look and see what you think. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 22:20, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thought I would alert you to this too: List of Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast members. Is that even something that's normally done? I suppose it could be useful if there are eventually films for all of the books and an article for the entire film series, but I'm kind of wondering if it's necessary right now. What do you think? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 04:23, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, I agree entirely; it's not needed, but would be nice if films were made of every book. Airplaneman talk 04:46, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Participation at my RfA

Thank you for taking the time to weigh in on my RfA. It was successful, in that the community's wish not to grant me the tools at this time was honored. I'm taking all the comments as constructive feedback and hope to become more valuable to the project as a result; I've also discovered several new areas in which to work. Because debating the merits of a candidate can be taxing on the heart and brain, I offer this kitten as a low-allergen, low-stress token of my appreciation. --otherlleft 13:00, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Airplaneman

Thanks for the welcome and the cookies too! I'm sorry I am really late on responding to your adoption invite. I'd love to start working with a mentor and you seem experienced enough to guide me. I'm beginning by checking out the WikiProjects to see if there's any I can contribute to. Also will go through the good editing guides you've sent my way. Great! I've adopted you :). Just a note: you don't have to join Wikiprojects to contribute to articles related to them, but they are a really good place to organize content by subject and to collaborate with other editors. Happy editing, Airplaneman talk 17:00, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Warriors

This new section means you can archive the old one.

I was litsening to the radio, and this guy called Jaron Lanier was being interviewed by the CBC, and he talks about the Web 2.0 or something, and then he mentions "the Wikipedia". And you know what? He called it the "world's most boring book" to read! I just found it funny that he kept calling it "the Wikipedia". Brambleclawx 21:02, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, I wonder why... I totally disagree with him. Wikipedia is probably the reason I made my school Quiz Bowl team. I find all of the random facts on this site fascinating. (I know what you are probably thinking... :D)
I stumbled upon Wikipedia as an IP in the very early 2000s when I was still a kid. I remember my first edit (as an IP): to the show Cyberchase, which I was a fan of at the time. It was reverted. I came back a few years later with an account to try to make articles for the lotion brands I saw around my house. They were deleted; to boot, I misspelled one of the titles... my first constructive edits were to Joe Sutter after reading his autobiography. I took a one year break, and after reading The City of Ember in April 2009, found out in what dismal shape the article on it was. I edited... and edited... :) I can't believe I'll have been on Wikipedia more than two years!
What do you think about me starting a newsletter for the Percy Jackson Task Force? Airplaneman talk 21:16, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like a great idea! Although personally, I find newsletters like the signpost annoying cuz it clutters up my watchlist, as well as peoples' talkpages. XD

My wiki history: First discovered it about 2006-ish (also when I first started Warriors), and I totally loved it. It seemed to have information on everything (which is obviously not true now, since I've started looking up ever more obscure things like reciprocating heat dissipators). I never edited... not sure why... Then in October, I got really bored, so I decided to join. And the first thing I found out: Wikipedia's Warriors articles/project was practically dead. It was kind of depressing, so then I got to trying to do it all by myself. Then obviously, you came along! Brambleclawx 21:30, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That made me smile! I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to keep up with my current activity level the next few years, though, as college is looming closer... I might as well enjoy my free time while I have it :). Airplaneman talk 21:41, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

True. and I'm in for a lot of homework, cuz that's what people tell me about the IB program: lots and lots of homework, as well as tons of community hours XD. But I won't be able to stay away from wiki... i'd probably need the break enforcer to do that. Brambleclawx 21:47, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, same here, unless I mysteriously lose interest (I don't see that happening anytime soon). Airplaneman talk 21:51, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was reading the pages about IB program just now, and I suddenly thought: "what if I wrote about Warriors for my Extended essay? LOL Brambleclawx 21:53, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I tagged Pinehapple for CSD-A1, but I don't know what template to warn the user with. could you do this for me? Thanks Brambleclawx 03:14, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Will look into it. Airplaneman talk 03:16, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Your friendly talk page stalker took care of it. : ) Brambleclawx, the template is listed on the bottom of the csd tag. It's {{subst:empty-warn|Pinehapple|header=1}} ~~~~. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:18, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oops XD. Brambleclawx 03:19, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, PrincessofLlyr did it :D. For future reference: it suggests the template to give at the bottom of the CSD template. Airplaneman talk 03:20, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, if you use Twinkle it will post the notification automatically! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:26, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just for next time: welcome the user (Friendly is a nice tool for that) when warning them. TW also does this automatically. Airplaneman talk 03:30, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In regard to welcomes, is your welcome template set up just for you? What are the chances that I could use it too? Maybe make a template with my name, but the same basic format? Oh, and I love Huggle! Is that rubbing it in you face? I'm sorry! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:35, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm fine w/o HG :). I'll stick to my good old watchlist, which keeps me busy enough with almost 4000 pages watched (:O I need to get rid of some.) I use my welcome template (User:Airplaneman/W) by typing in {{subst:user:Airplaneman/W}}. It was tedious at first, but I got good at it... of course you can use it (anyone can, really). I might need to tweak it a bit; I'll check it out. Airplaneman talk 03:42, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, if you use it, it'll say your name's Airplaneman :D. I'll fix it. Airplaneman talk 03:43, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I figured. Thanks! 4000?!?!?! I try to keep mine between 100 and 150. No wonder you stay so busy! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:45, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, guess what? I found out about Igloo. It's a huggle I can use! I don't feel left out anymore! :D Airplaneman talk 23:58, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
How neat! Now I'll get on and watch you beat me to reverts! BTW, I'm gonna be off most of the weekend, so if I don't reply quickly, I'm not ignoring anything. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 05:03, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Airplaneman, you welcomed this guy, and his talk page seems very chaotic. He even placed a banned template on a user's talk when they weren't even blocked, along with a level 4 uw-vandalism for changing a date on a page. I guess every so often, you're going to come across something really weird on Wikipedia like this, huh? Brambleclawx 21:01, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, weird... if it keeps up, an ANI post might be needed. Airplaneman talk 21:24, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and I'm reading The Fourth Apprentice (Warriors) right now (halfway through). Should finish tonight. I will push to get it to GA status in the next few weeks. Airplaneman talk 21:31, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think ANI will be necessary, but thanks for the link. Now I know where to look. Wow... you;re going to push the article from stub-to GA class? That would be awesome! Brambleclawx 21:37, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. Yea, it'll take a while, but it's fun (I like writing). The only obstacle is finding enough on critical reception and stuff. Airplaneman talk 21:41, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah... that's always hard. Brambleclawx 21:44, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

igloo

Hi Airplaneman, and thanks for your interest in igloo. Before using the program, please read the following information carefully - failure to do so may result in your test access being revoked.

igloo is a JavaScript-powered, browser-based anti-vandalism tool, which means you do not have to download or install anything on your computer and it will work on multiple operating systems. However, it does mean that the performance relies on that of your browser and it may operate more slowly than downloaded programs. You must have either Mozilla Firefox 3+ or Google Chrome to use igloo, as it is currently incompatible with other browsers.

igloo relies on a system called iglooNet to assist you in finding and reverting vandalism. It is this system that transforms the program from a pretty version of recent changes to an actual anti-vandalism tool. Naturally, this is beyond the power of a client-side program, and igloo will regularly communicate with an external, non-Wikimedia server. Because of things like server logs, and the iglooNet abuse tracker, this may allow your IP address to be attached to your username - something which is otherwise impossible on Wikipedia. If you do not want this to happen, you MUST NOT USE IGLOO.

If you decide that you do want to test igloo, please keep in mind that it not wholly stable, and you may experience problems where it performs an invalid edit, or other unwanted action. If this happens, fix any mistakes you've made, apologise to anyone you've offended, and let me know. I don't take any responsibility for your use of the program - if you aren't willing to fix any errors, don't use it.

igloo is already quite powerful. The following is a simple guide to using the program:

  • The igloo interface is similar to that of other software, including huggle. Recent changes appear on the left, and diffs appear on the right.
  • igloo sorts diffs based on iglooNet data so that edits most likely to be vandalism are displayed first. You can press spacebar to view the top diff, or click on any diff to view it directly.
  • When you find vandalism, press 'Q' or click the revert button to revert the change, and issue a warning to the user. igloo automatically issues the correct warning. It will ignore existing warnings that are more than 5 days old, and restart from the beginning.
  • The iglooNet assertion system tags clean and dirty edits with colour coding - if it suspects an edit is vandalism, it will be flagged as red, and if it believes it to be clean, it will tag it green.
  • At any time, you can re-review diffs you have already seen by pressing backspace or using the icons to move through the diff history.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or other feedback, I'd love to know. If you hate it, and won't be using it again, please let me know why - and I'll remove you from the test whitelist. If you now try and use igloo, you should find that it will allow you to use the program. Thanks, and good luck! Ale_Jrbtalk 10:39, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I'll give it a run soon! Airplaneman talk 17:42, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Censorship by BaronLeaf and IanCheeseman

I suggest that before you immediately delete my comments about BaronLeaf, you investigate what is going on. I have been posting about threats made by the Mayor and Police Chief of Stevens Point against a motel holding a swingers party.

See: http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Stevens_Point,_Wisconsin&diff=343103433&oldid=340824310

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Stevens_Point,_Wisconsin#Removal_of_Harassment_by_Mayor_Andrew_Halverson_and_Police_Chief_of_Camp_NCN_Swingers_Group
