Future adminship

I have some recommendations before you accept a nomination for adminship:

1) Read WP:RFA discussions and nominations regularly, so you get an idea of what people are looking for in nominators.

2) Take notes on any things you need to change about your editing. If there are any, either change them or reconsider your desire to be an administrator.

I can think of one thing that's pretty obvious: Make fewer mistakes when doing CSD tagging. "When in doubt, don't" is a good rule of thumb. Also, keep up with WP:SPEEDY and WT:SPEEDY, so you get a feel for how other editors interpret things like WP:A7 in close cases.

I think you'll make a good admin, just not now. You've got a good attitude, your judgment just doesn't always line up with that of the community. Admins are expected to ask themselves "what would Jesus the community do" in most judgment calls like deletion decisions. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 02:29, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the tips, davidwr! They're much appreciated. Yes, I'm not the best at judgement; that'll come with age :). I'm reading lots of RFA discussions and voting in quite a couple, but will definitely be more cautious in tagging for deletion. I've got school to think of and my editing will be rather sporadic in the coming months, starting now pretty much. I've got exams to look forward to... I've only been very active lately because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Anyway, I will start by:
 1. Watching my deletion activities closely
 1. Looking more into Wikipedia areas like WP:CHU and reading all Wiki policies a couple more times
 1. Keep doing what I first came here for - writing articles!
Again, thank you for the tips! Regards, Airplaneman talk 03:30, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

So... Im adopted?

Hey man.

So... whats this welcome thing? Whats the adoption deal? Not that Im concerned or something, but howd ya find me, and whyd ya choose to welcome me?

It was a kind gesture so thanks.

The Assassin047 (talk) 02:32, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Heh, sorry if I appeared to be stalking... Anyway, here's how I found you: I saw you pop up on an article on my watchlist, Comparison of Nvidia graphics processing units to be exact. I saw that you had not been welcomed, so I took it upon myself to say "hi" and provide some (lots...) of useful links to learn more about Wikipedia and editing. I welcome all users that I come across that have more than two or three-ish edits. About adoption: it's a program where users can get "adopted" by more experienced editors, who help them learn the ropes for a bit. If you'd like, I'd be happy to adopt you. Happy editing! Airplaneman talk 03:38, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Well thanks then. Sure Ill be adopted!

Occasionally I do have questions about formatting so Ill ask you then, when they come up thanks!

The Assassin047 (talk) 06:38, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

I've adopted you! I added Airplaneman to your userpage and The Assassin047 to mine to indicate it. Regards, Airplaneman talk 21:40, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

CE request

Hi, noticed your name on the GOCE participants list, would you be interested in copy-editing "The Chinese Restaurant", which is currently at FAC? Thank you. Oh, and nice username by the way.--Music26/11 16:31, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Sure, I'm on it :). Airplaneman talk 22:02, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Done - I've copyedited it to the best of my ability. I mostly fixed tense (during plot summaries) and eliminated run-ons (in the "Production" section). Otherwise, it looks good! Regards, Airplaneman talk 22:49, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't realize you already copyedited it, as I made additional copyedits to the article. What do you think about my recent copyedits? I can undo them if you want. Happy editing! ATC . Talk 03:17, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
They're great! Airplaneman talk 03:55, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I'm sorry, I did not expect both of you guys to reply.--Music26/11 05:38, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your help (I forgot to say it last time). I wondered if you weren't too busy to take a look at "The Revenge" as well, I'm planning to take it to FAC again in some time.--Music26/11 17:03, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Copyedit request

Hi Airplaneman, I was wondering if you were interested—since User:Truthkeeper88 has been busy and will be for next week as well—if you could help copyedit The Naked Brothers Band: The Movie article because we were both working on it, to get it to WP:FAC criteria. So far, its a WP:GAN and any additional edits can help. Thanx! ATC . Talk 03:24, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

I'll take a look :). Airplaneman talk 03:57, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Help Me Please Airplane Man

Hi,

I'm new at creating pages and am trying to write a subject about The Arena. I mislabeled my first artice called The Arena MMA and then tried to write an article called The Arena (MMA) so I could then delete the 1st article. Now the 2nd article is scheduled for deletion instead, probably because I used the same content.

Can you help me delete the 1st article and save the 2nd?

Thank you!

Mmasource —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmasource (talkcontribs) 22:23, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Looking back, you could not have moved it to the correct place because you weren't autoconfirmed at the time. Here's what I will do:
 1. Put
 1. Look at the current article and see what can be done.
I'll see what needs work on the second article and get back in a bit. Regards, Airplaneman talk 00:36, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Looks like The Arena MMA is already gone ;). I'll take a look at The Arena (MMA). Airplaneman talk 00:41, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
You removed the speedy deletion tag while adding the hangon tag. The instructions were to put the tag below the speedy tag and give a reason on the talk page. I'm putting the tags back and giving a link to this discussion on the talk page so administrators may refer to this while considering deletion. What I suggest doing is adding some references to the article. I've added the section for you. All you have to do is put the references in :). Airplaneman talk 00:49, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Okay... as I understand it, Mmasource intended to create one article, but misnamed it, and then created another article with roughly the same content rather than using the move function to fix the title. The page histories seem to substantiate that, since one ends just as the other one begins. I've gone ahead and done a history merge on the two articles, and left them sitting at The Arena (MMA). It sounds like this is probably the intended title, but if it's not, please use the [move] tab at the top of the page to place the whole thing on the correct title. SchuminWeb (Talk) 01:02, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, SchuminWeb. That is how I understand is also. Regards, Airplaneman talk 03:32, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Copy-edit help

Hey. I plan on nominating What Is and What Should Never Be (Supernatural) for FAC in the near future, but thought it would help to get it copy-edited first. If you get the chance, you could please copy-edit it? It's pretty much complete, but I plan on expanding the plot section and adding the infobox pic this week. Anyways, I would really appreciate your help. :) Thanks. Ωphois 01:41, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm a bit busy at the moment, so I won't be able to look at it right away, but certainly, I'll copyedit it :). Airplaneman talk 01:47, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm not up to looking this up right now, but the article is not part of any WikiProjects as of now. If there is an appropriate WikiProject tag, it would be nice to add the template to the talk page. Regards, Airplaneman talk 01:53, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
It's supposed to be Wikiproject TV. I'll try and add it to it. Anyways, thanks! Take your time. :) Ωphois 10:29, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

OK, I took a look today and did one big edit. There wasn't much that needed tweaking, but I did what I could. Good luck with the FAC! Regards, Airplaneman talk 05:15, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! Also, could you please take a quick glance at Supernatural (season 2)? I plan on renominating it for FAC within the next couple of days. Myself and another editor (ATC) have already copy-edited, but I just wanted to make sure that we didn't let any major prose issues slip by. Ωphois 16:42, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Warriors

Airplaneman, I don't know if you haven't noticed the things i've recently said on the older section, or if you're just ignoring me for some reason or other, or maybe you're just too busy to respond:

just give me a quick note if I'm bothering you and I need to stop posting so much, or if you're busy, just make that clear. Thanks. That way, I'll know not to clutter up your talk page with stuff.

Oh, and by the way, I'm seeing if user:Eulalia459678 is still active, I've posted a note to their Warriors Wikia talk page.

Thanks,

Brambleclawx (talk) 01:30, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Oh, I haven't said something in two days... yea, I'm kinda busy, but I'm reading your posts :). Sorry about that. Will be busy until holiday break next week, but I'll try to drop by and respond. Don't worry, keep posting. I just might not respond fast. I'll do some work on the Warriors articles during break, too. Airplaneman talk 02:18, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

There are a few redirects we might need to get rid of: such as Sky of chaos and Warrior kittys. The first one is probably the name of a fanfic, the second will most likely not be searched. The full list of redirects can be found under the NA category of WP:warriors pages, which for some reason, I cannot seem to make a link to.

Brambleclawx (talk) 21:46, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

I'll take a look and put them up for RfD (redirects for deletion) where appropriate. Airplaneman talk 23:05, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Number of hits for "Sky of chaos": http://stats.grok.se/en/200912/Sky_of_chaos
Number of hits for "Warrior kittys": http://stats.grok.se/en/200912/Warrior_kittys
As you can see, they are hardly ever used. See the deletion discussions I've initiated:

Airplaneman talk 23:15, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I haven't taken the time to familiarise myself with deletion policies yet. On the discussions page, are only admins allowed to comment on wether to keep or not, or is the entire community allowed to provide opinion?

Brambleclawx (talk) 23:29, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Anyone's allowed to comment, but only admins can delete. Airplaneman talk 23:32, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

You said on the Sky of Chaos page that its on RfD, but its not. just so you know. Brambleclawx (talk) 23:55, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Yea, I had to go for a bit. Will list now :) Airplaneman talk 00:53, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
I found out how to link to categories! Put a : before it, like this: :Category:NA-Class_Warriors_articles instead of , which will give Category:NA-Class_Warriors_articles instead of categorizing the page. Airplaneman talk 01:17, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Warrior Cats Language is another redirect that I think needs to be deleted Brambleclawx (talk) 02:26, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

I agree. Page view stats. Airplaneman talk 22:37, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I nominated it. I had to copy the coding out of the Sky of Chaos RfD cuz i had no idea how people know all that coding by heart, there probably a tool that I dont know about. Anyways, you can fix up my nomination if it needs fixing here. Brambleclawx (talk) 02:05, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Try WP:TWINKLE and WP:FRIENDLY not to mention WP:HOTCAT, all of which I have used since summer. They're really useful. You can enable them under the gadgets section in your preferences. Really helps me out :). I couldn't imagine memorizing all that stuff... :O Airplaneman talk 03:19, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

yeah sorry, I didn't reply to this, I just didnt have much to say. Good idea, moving the discussion, it was getting kinda long. Anyways, I asked User:John Carter for rollback permission now (I picked him because he was not only listed here but also is an active member of WikiProject Warriors.

Break's started, so I may have time to edit more.Brambleclawx (talk) 22:02, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Yea, same here, although I'll have relatives over. I have this week before disappearing for the next week. I'll do some Warriors work for sure. Good luck with rollback :) Airplaneman talk 00:06, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

User:John Carter appears to have turned down my request. See here. Brambleclawx (talk) 00:05, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

That's OK. There's always next time. So yea, if you need to do any more tagging and nominating for deletion, Friendly will take care of the first as well as welcome users and Twinkle will do the latter as well as revert vandalism and warn people. Airplaneman talk 00:10, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Don't worry, I'll stick to using normal editing for now then. Anyways, I've finished making all the citations on Warriors (novel series) use pretty much the same formats. Now all I need to do is add more citations, check spelling and grammar, then possible request a copyedit when that's done. After that's done, we can probably nominate it for GA status. Brambleclawx (talk) 00:23, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Cool! Airplaneman talk 00:25, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Haev you ever felt we should change the picture for ? because the W doesn't seem like much. Brambleclawx (talk) 18:38, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

I have started a discussion on Talk: List of ThunderClan cats (Warriors). Your opinion will be valued. Brambleclawx (talk) 23:26, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. Airplaneman talk 23:28, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Your "see also" thing was removed from the Shadowclan page. The editor says you shoudl create a disambiguation page Brambleclawx (talk) 23:33, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks so much for letting me know. I will change to "otheruses". Airplaneman talk 23:36, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

No problem. Now that we've got User:Res2216firestar back, and the break has started, my watchlist is really beginning to fill up. Brambleclawx (talk) 23:43, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

OH! Thank you so much Airplaneman, that was my first Barnstar!!!! THANK YOU!! Brambleclawx (talk) 21:54, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

You definitely deserved it :D. Nice work! Airplaneman talk 21:55, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

By the way, those redirects were succesfully deleted, just so you know. And I'm testing out my new signature. Is it too long in terms of all the markup? Brambleclawx 22:30, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. Your sig is nice :). The markup isn't too long IMO; I really think it can be as short or as long as you want it. Airplaneman talk 22:32, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

It was so long they wouldnt let me type more characters in. Originally, I wanted it to be in Segoe Print typeface, but I had to sacrifice that to keep "Bramble" brown, cuz I couldnt fit all that markup in. Brambleclawx 22:43, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Oh, I didn't know they had a limit... oh well. It still looks nice. Airplaneman talk 23:20, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Dear Airplaneman,

I write in regard to the Branko Mikasinovich article. I am not experienced with this type of work and I understand the article needs to be improved. Even the title, with no h in the end, I did not know how to fix. The information in the article is true, and if you tell me what is needed exactly I will try to help.

In relation to Baron Mihailo Mikasinovic (if this is part of the problem), there is a long article by Dragan Damjanovic, published in March 2003. I will put it in a better format.

Dragan Damjanovic, The Cultural Activity of General Mikasinovic, Radovi-Povijest (Works-History), broj 24, published March 2003

For his article about General Mikasinovic, Mr. Damjanovic lists 34 references.

I will provide you with a few links related to Branko Mikasinovic:

http://www.jstor.org/pss/40134960

I will place here a short citation and privide you with the link:

"[A]n anthology edited by Branko Mikasinovich, a noted scholar. Widely and well-reviewed, Modern Yugoslav Satire was excerpted in the New Republic and the Pushcart Prize anthology."

-Stanley Barkan (Cross-Cultural Communications)

http://www.thedrunkenboat.com/ccc.html

This is probably not enough but I will be glad to help more after I receive your answer. Hope this helps at least a little bit.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Mountlovcen8 (talk) 06:52, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

I've fixed the naming part by moving the page. Not to sound mean, because I'm more than happy to help, but I don't exactly get what you want me to do with the links. They certainly help in terms of notability and should be used as references to help verify the information in the article. Regards, Airplaneman talk 21:01, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

I don't know exactly how to improve the article and that's why I gave you a few ideas. I mentioned the links, because when I inserted some, they were removed by someone. There was a quotation in my previous message too. Now, above the article, there is a place where it says--news, books, scholar in the brackets.

I wanted you to evaluate the whole thing, if possible, and maybe edit the article and add some information or citations. By using--news, books, scholar, above the article, you can easily verify it. You could also use the quotation from my previous message.

I wouldn't want to touch the text again, since I am not sure if I would do a good job, because as I already said, someone removed the links I already placed.

I also don't understand why there is a note there: "especially if potentially libelous or harmful," since it is obvious there is nothing of that sort in the article or "contentious."

The question is--would you be willing to improve the text? I would greatly appreciate it.

Regards, Mountlovcen8 (talk) 23:03, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes, certainly. I'll tell you what: I'll tag the page as "under construction". I'll start by copyediting it and then adding some more information as well as sources. You can edit it too, and I'll review your edits to see what needs work; then you can edit without help later :). Airplaneman talk 23:40, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
It'd be nice if you could find his date of birth, too. Airplaneman talk 00:16, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Dear Airplaneman,

Thank you very much. Article is already improved thanks to your help. Branko Mikasinovich was born on November 6, 1938 in Belisce (Latin: Belišće, Slavonia, Croatia, the former Yugoslavia).

Also, if you need his name in Cyrillic, it would be like this: Бранко Микашиновић

Pronunciation would be: Branko Mikashinovich

In the Latin Alphabet, it would be: Branko Mikašinović

I forgot to let you know that Mikasinovich interviewed Pat Buchanan, John R. Bolton among many other notable figures ("Voice of America"). This is only if you need it.

Again, I appreciate very much your help, and if it is not too much to ask, I would rather like you to insert these minor things and decide how to do it.

Best regards, Mountlovcen8 (talk)76.223.70.213 (talk) 02:27, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you; I'll do it soon. Happy editing, Airplaneman talk 04:10, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello Airplaneman, Article about "Atlantykron" was suggested for deletion. I modified it as requested and the objections were withdrawn by the originators as noted on the page http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Atlantykron.

I am still learning about Wiki and will continue to improve the article. At the same time, since the objections were withdrawn, does this mean I can delete the deletion notice now? or does somebody on the wiki team do it?

I just want to make sure I understand and follow the right process. Thanks for your help and patience with a new girl on the block! Jennifer. Sciencefrontiers42 (talk) 15:59, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Welcome, and thanks for contributing! I'll watch the discussion and see what comes of it - since the nominator withdrew, the AfD discussion should be closed soon. I might even close it myself. Once the discussion is closed, the tag will be removed. Can you please leave it in place until it is closed? The article looks fine to me, so I'm going to vote for a keep on it. I'll tag the article as "under construction" so others will know not to tag it for deletion. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask! BTW, you're part of the wiki team :). Regards, Airplaneman talk 18:36, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
I've closed the discussion as keep. I've also fixed some links in the article. Happy editing, Airplaneman talk 20:59, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello!

Hey airplaneman, can you please tell me how to create the contents box on wikipedia pages? Yuan Lin (talk) 23:12, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Are you talking about infoboxes? Sorry for the late response :(. Airplaneman talk03:18, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't think so, but I've got it. But I have a question for you. When you merge two or more articles together, what do you do with the articles that have been merged, i.e., do you delete them, and if so, how? Yuan Lin (talk) 23:39, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

When you merge articles, you usually redirect them to the article where the info can now be found. They usually aren't deleted; if you need to, only administrators can delete articles. Regards, Airplaneman talk 00:20, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Kayavak Deletion

Hi, Airplaneman, it's Belugaboy535136, the author of Kayavak (beluga whale). Why do you think this whale is insignificant?? Kayavak almost didn't survive!! Have you not read, she became an orphan at five months old?? Forgive me if I'm being too stern, but please, tell me why. —Precedingunsigned comment added by Belugaboy535136 (talkcontribs) 00:44, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello, nice to meet you. Please take a look at Wikipedia's inclusion and notability policies and you'll see why I thought Kayavak the Beluga whale was not notable enough for her own article. I suggested that she have a mention in the article of her aquarium. Although our opinions may differ, I do not think that being in life-threatening situations and losing a parent signify significance and importance in their own right; more information supporting notability has to be provided. As such, the information has been provided, and I will be happy to withdraw my nomination on the grounds that her article be moved to her proper name, Kayavak, not Kayavak (beluga whale). Also, inline citations should be added. Happy editing, Airplaneman talk 01:32, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
OK, Belugaboy, I've requested a move to a title more suited for her (without the "beluga whale" ending) here. Regards,Airplaneman talk 01:58, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Excuse me for adding the beluga whale at the end. The problem is, when you type in Kayavak and hit search, it redirects you to the Shedd Aquarium page, on which there is no info about her. Hope this answers any problems with the article. Gosh, I sure am busy with the Kayavak article!! Belugaboy535136 (talk) 03:11, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

That's fine. Please don't hesitate to drop by if you have any more questions or concerns! Airplaneman talk03:12, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and may you please take a look at the requested name change of Kayavak's article and vote either Support, Oppose, orNeutral, with a comment afterwards? You input is appreciated. Regards, Airplanemantalk 03:18, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Airplaneman, I actually have a few things to ask you. For one: How can I make the Kayavak article better?? I know everything about Kayavak. Just another thing, I don't care if you don't see this on Sunday. On my other account, I made a whole section about Kayavak right after the "Granddad" section. Then everything, the whole kit-kaboodle, was just deleted. If you could tell me why, I would be very thankful. Happy first day of winter!! Belugaboy535136 (talk) 04:13, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Airplaneman, I was wondering if you could help me out with the Kayavak article, you know, help me edit it. I have absolutely no clue how to change it, and I've changed what I thought needed to be changed. Belugaboy535136 (talk) 20:44, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Sure! I'll try to explain my edits in the edit summaries, which you can view by clicking on the "history" tab of the page. Airplaneman talk21:05, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
OK, I fixed up the tone a bit. As for the citation style, what I mean is that it is more beneficial to te reader if the references are put next to the facts they verify, instead of just a list of them at the bottom. This is not required, but would enhance the quality of the article. Airplaneman talk21:18, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Airplaneman, thank you. I've rewritten most of the article. And I saw in HISTORY that you thought I should capitalize the word "beluga" when I use it. Just so you know, beluga is NOT a proper noun, and does not require the capitalization, following the rules of grammar. I beg your humble pardon if this seems too stern. Warm regards,Belugaboy535136 (talk) 21:30, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Er, actually, it is. It's the name of a specific species of animal. Airplaneman talk 21:35, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Please reread the edit summaries I provided. The use of "rd" in something like "August 3, 2009" is incorrect. Also, the article's tone reads like a story, not an encyclopedia article. Airplaneman talk 21:37, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I hope I have your pardon. I was just going to say, when you look up CARDINAL in the encyclopedia, or in any other book for that matter, do you see it printed like Cardinal or cardinal?? You see it lowercased. Again, please give me pardon if I am being stern or strict or rude. And, thank you for the helpful info. I was going to ask, can you please help me rewrite?? I'm probably not gonna get this done by my birthday (Jan. 18) without your help. Warm regards and happy Winter Solstice,Belugaboy535136 (talk) 21:44, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

You have my pardon :). I agree: when you look up cardinal, it's not capitalized. Niether is human. Neither is whale. But Beluga whale is. So is Northern Cardinal. Do you get my drift? Anyways, I love article writing and will certainly help. I'll be away next week starting Monday, and will return on January 4. Otherwise, I'm here to help! Happy holidays, Airplaneman talk 21:48, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

There's actually a problem with that. You see, I'm on winter break from school, and I resume on January 4. Sorry for any confusion, it's a tough process working with these articles. Also, if this is not too much, I would like to get the article off of my to do list by January Eighteenth, my birthday. Warm regards and Merry Christmas Eve Eve Eve Eve, Belugaboy535136 (talk) 22:00, 21 December 2009 (UTC) The Kayavak article is one of many I am working on, check out my article called "Snih, it's pretty interesting, and I don't think it will get on the deletion list!! Warm regareds, Belugaboy535136 (talk) 00:19, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey, no worries, I resume January 4 as well and probably won't be as active; I'll definitely be around, though. I'll take a look at your other articles as well. Beluga whale is capitalized based solely on the fact that it is a proper noun. Airplaneman talk 01:32, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

You're right, I probably won't be as active, but I'll be on in the weekday mornings and sometimes on the weekday evenings, how much time I have permitting. I will definately be active on the weekends. So, can we get the Kayavak wrapped up by the 18?? Thanks for your help and warm regards, Belugaboy535136 (talk) 17:51, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Supernatural Season 2

Hey, not sure whether you had read my message, since someone would always post something here minutes after I did, lol. Anyways, thanks for your help. Also, could you please take a quick glance at Supernatural (season 2)? I plan on renominating it for FAC within the next couple of days. Userboxes

Hello sir! I must say, I admire your both your User and Discussion pages and I would like some assistance with my Userbox organization. Yours are the best looking I've ever seen and I was wondering if you would share with me how you made it look so good. --Johncoracing48 (talk) 05:21, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, and nice to meet you! An easy way to organize userboxes is to put all of them in between userboxtop USERBOXES HERE userboxbottom. Another place to look at is the userpage design center. It really took me about a month to construct the userpage on my free time, since I didn't know the UPDC existed. I'd be happy to help with any other questions you may have. Happy editing! Airplanemantalk 05:26, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Review of Dynamic Language/2

user:rick206/dynamiclanguage

Thank you for your feedback. I am aware of the COI rules. It is truly a coincidence. My only relation to the company is that I have used their services. I have never personally dealt with their higher management and thus never knew the gentleman's name was Rick until beginning this article. But I see the cause for COI. How do I go about resolving that situation to not conflict with COI?

Also, if you wouldn't mind clarifying, as article writing is new to me: "The revenue alone is not a reason for notability?" Would revenue mean the location of the sources? The sources I found are all articles about the company or founders. Is it not possible to use that as notability? Thank you for your help. Much appreciated!

Rick206 (talk) 16:22, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry if I don't remember clearly, but I don't think I provided any feedback whatsoever regarding User:Rick206/Dynamic Language. Regardless, it's nice to meet you, Rick. I'm aware, while assuming good faith, that this is a coincidence. After some digging around, I see that this post is exactly the same as your posthere. Since I'm not experienced with dealing with COIs, this will be a learning process for both me and you. You will definitely benefit from the links provided by the editors giving you feedback. I've been reading this and it seems that, for you to resolve this possible COI, you might want to go to the COI noticeboard and seek the opinion of other, more experienced editors in this field. I'm going to post your name there with a brief explanation while also pointing to this discussion, the feedback discussion, as well as your talk page. I'll post a link to the article in your subpage as well. Please don't take this the wrong way; I just think the best way to clear up this touchy issue is to seek the opinion of other editors more experienced with COI.
Now, about article writing: that I know more about :). I'm taking the "The revenue alone is not a reason for notability?" quote as saying that the income of the company alone does not assert its notability, or reason for inclusion. Other factors need to be looked at to evaluate whether or not the company warrants its own page, most notably significant coverage in secondary sources. As mentioned earlier, WP:CORP and WP:FAQO are good places to look at. Regards, Airplaneman talk17:18, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
OK, I've posted a discussion here. Airplaneman talk17:28, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for your help! I'm sorry, I must have click on the wrong talk link, but none the less, your info has helped. However, the part that confuses me is that I have added sources that do not just reflect the company's income, but are third party sources from trade journals and articles on the company. Are those not useful either? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rick206 (talkcontribs) 00:15, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
This is how I see it: you need more sources; the ones you have may be useful, but in order to prove significant coverage, you'll need more of them. BTW, how'd you find my talk page? Airplaneman talk 01:36, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

First Submission

Hello Airplaneman –

You sent me a message regarding my first Wiki submission which is a brief article about a book: The Life and American Ancestry of Andrew Alfred Koppenhaver". Apparently, there are some problems with the submission and I'm not sure how to fix them. Any advice?

The book is self-published but logged at the Library of Congress. It's a history of our family which, in America, dates back to 1728.

Any guidance would be appreciated. I'm hoping to keep this article from being deleted.

Thanks.

Tim Koppenhaver —Preceding unsigned comment added by TimKoppenhaver (talkcontribs) 11:21, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Just to clear things up: I didn't want the article to be deleted; I just gave you a couple a links to help you get started. Another user sent you the message... but I'll certainly go take a look. I might not respond for some time due to real life matters, but it looks like you have 7 days. Regards, Airplaneman talk15:37, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
OK, it looks like the guy tagged it for deletion on the grounds that it is not notable. If you can find more reliable sources, this article is more likely to be kept. Once you do that, you can contest the proposed deletion by removing the tag. Airplaneman talk 15:45, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

WP Warriors

Somebody ( User:KinHikari)added their name to the Status pending list? I think what they were trying to do was put themself under active. I'll ask them on their talk page. Just so you know. Brambleclawx 17:48, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks; it has been fixed. Airplaneman talk 05:55, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

It just occured to me that we ought to have a Brightspirit entry somewhere, but she doesn't fit in any Clan. Do you think its necessary? Brambleclawx 21:06, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Yea, iThink she's worth mentioning. Airplaneman talk 21:22, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

OK i'll get it on it once I've nominated Warriors (novel series) for GA, which should be soon. All that's left on my personal to-do list is to go over all theverb tense in the article, do a final read-over, then ask someone, probably User:John Carter, to copy-edit it, which I'm already doing, but its always good to have more people copy-edit it. I've decided to let it stay as American english even though its technically a British series, because all the old edit were made in American, and its too much of a hassle to not only switch it all over, but to enforce this with IP users, the majority of which edit in American english (I edit with a mix of American and Canadian, which I suppose is even worse than editing in the wrong english).

To go over what i've done:

 • Grammar and prose
 • fix redundancy/repetition
 • fix references
 • add references
 • check links
 • add links
 • italics
 • heading check
 • titles
 • it's and its
 • location and date format check
 • external link check
 • makes sense?
 • conciseness
 • no run-ons
 • put through MS Word spell check in US English

Left to do:

 • verb tense
 • final read-over
 • ask for copyedit from John Carter, because he's in WP:warriors.

If you like, you can help copyedit as well, and if you think I missed anything, please tell me. I was going to add pictures, but I'm not too familiar with non-free use of images yet, so I'll save that for later.

Thanks, Brambleclawx 00:26, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

I'll take a look sometime soon! Airplaneman talk 19:47, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

By the way... do you have any idea if Special: Contributions/Danjolley is the actual Dan Jolley? It surprised me when I saw a user called that editing the article. I was wondering "is that guy editing his own article?" Brambleclawx 18:55, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Definitely a WP:COI. You will want to discuss it with him. I'm around but busy; sorry if I seem like I'm not really helping here. Airplaneman talk19:47, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
The reference to being the NY Times bestselling series is more than 1.5 years old... Airplaneman talk04:07, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

I agree. it should either be removed, or the verb tense can be fixed. But then again, it has returned many times to the list. Brambleclawx 17:58, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

Yea. Since Wikipedia is a work in progress, we might as well keep it and make it better :). BTW, it's nice when editors reside in relatively the same time zones, especially if they aren't on the IRC. It's much easier to discuss stuff! Airplanemantalk 18:02, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm in UTC-5, if I remember correctly. Markham, Ontario. But yeah, it is nice.

I feel like a very mean editor. I just went and undid several of User:AppleDapple11's edits. She's new, so she's still learning. But I feel really bad for having to undo pratically all of them, since the only significatnt edits she's made so far is really just the reason why I started the new discussion on the ThunderClan page.

On the Bright side, she added a Brightspirit section (then removed it, which I retrieved and fixed up).

Happy Holiday, Brambleclawx 18:23, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

Ha! I'm in UTC-5, too (Baltimore, Maryland). Yea, I feel bad when reverting good faith stuff, too, mostly on Percy Jackson pages (they get lots of vandalism and fan comments). I'm not sure if there's a better alternative, though. Discussion is the way to go, I think. If you've read her userpage, you'll know why she removed the stuff...Airplaneman talk 18:32, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I saw her page. In fact, I've been watching her account since it was created. There was an IP user, 138. something or other, who was making some nice edits, and so I suggested that they create an account and join the warriors wikiproject. A few minutes later, AppleDapple11 made her first edit ever on the tribe page, so I assume it was the same person. I saw the page and though "ok, we've finally got someone with that point of view working with us". This is going to be great!Brambleclawx 20:49, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

I've added Requiem (typeface) to WikiProject Warriors because its the font Erin Hunter uses. You can remove it if you think it shouldn't be included. Brambleclawx 18:38, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

I was thinking that we should have a Wikiproject Warriors Barnstar, so I tried to make one. What do you think? and a reminder the role call ends tomorrow.Brambleclawx 19:32, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Nice, have fun. I don;t mind if you don't reply until you get back, but have you ever played Paganini's Violin Conerto No. 2, since you're a violinist? The 3rd movement is my favourite, cuz Liszt used that melody for an awesome piano etude which I'm learning right now.

Haven't played Paganini yet... hope to, though! Airplaneman talk 00:46, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Welcome back!!!

I've been doing a little while you were gone. I know we all have school, but it'd be awesome if you could fit in a bit of copyediting of Warriors (novel series), as I intend to nominate it for GA around thursday, unless you think its really not ready.

and you can split off this section if you think its getting long again.

Oh, and nice thing up there, the one with the picture of an airplane, and the "please consider the following". it looks cool.

Brambleclawx 00:18, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, it's good to be back. I'll definitely copyedit the Warriors article, but yea, school is my priority :). The notice you see when you edit is an edit notice. I noticed the notice on someone's talk and asked then how to make it. Do you think I need to shrink it a bit (does it take up too much screen space?) Thanks!Airplaneman talk 00:40, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

its works fine on my screen. Brambleclawx 01:14, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Ah, that's good to know. Do you know anything about the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series? I'm afraid that most of the contributors are not helping with the writing quality of the articles... Airplaneman talk 02:48, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately, its a series I had never heard of until I saw your userpage. Thats when I read the article on it. I suppose I can help with some minor copyediting if you like, but I'm kind of busy now, cuz I also joined WikiProject Cats, and I'm trying to write an article about the Canadian Cat Association. Could you take a quick look and tell me if you think its ready to be moved into mainspace? I tried to model it off the pages about other Cat associations.Brambleclawx 22:53, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh, OK. The Canadian Cat Association article looks fine to me! I might drop in later and try to see what I can contribute. I'll also try and copyedit the Warriors (novel series) article by the end of the week (nominations for GA might take 2 moths or longer to fill). Airplaneman talk02:55, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

I've just witnessed something shocking. User:Domestic Cat has retired. And from the looks of their talkpage right before they retired and their last contributions I think I know why. Take a look at this, this and this. I think User:Innotata was "biting the newcomer," who hasn't even been on Wikipedia for a full month!!! Do you think I should mention it to him, because I'm kind of disappointed that Wikiproject Cats just lost a member + he/she was going to help me with my Canadian Cat Association page. Brambleclawx 23:06, 7 January 2010 (UTC) Do you think Canadian Cat Association is ready to be moved into mainspace? Brambleclawx 23:59, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Yea, it looks fine. More info (as always) could be added, though. I'll go through and make some minor tweaks after writing this message and post a diff when I'm done. BTW, I found your YouTube channel! Nice music :). Airplaneman talk 00:04, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and I'm still looking into the Domestic Cat incident. I'll have a response by tomorrow. Airplaneman talk00:05, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

My music? Yeah, well, I tried my best. It doesn't sound that wonderful, since I didn't have a real orchestra to record XD. I had to use the ride cymbal sound for the suspended cymbal, and the triangle sounded awful so I used another sound. And the violin sound is messed up for some reason on Finale, and its just always LOUD.Brambleclawx 00:12, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Yea, Finale 2008 doesn't have the best instruments, but at least it has notation :). Here's the diff]! Airplanemantalk 00:14, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

I moved it into mainspace. Oh and Domestic Cat is back! Brambleclawx 22:32, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Congrats! It's great to hear that a user has returned! Regards, Airplaneman talk 00:17, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Not sure if you're familiar with this, but if someone nominates an article for GA and it fails in september 2009, and they re-nominate it one month later, without many/no significant changes, is this elegible for a quick fail? See Pat Condell. Brambleclawx 00:20, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Possibly, I'm guessing, unless the minor changes fixed the problem(s). I'll take a look and see. Airplaneman talk03:50, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Looks like there was a problem with refs. 1 new ref has been added. I'm going to have to say that, yea, it probably is, unless the old refs have now been cited in the previously unsourced/poorly sourced portions of text. Airplaneman talk 04:04, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm going to see exactly why it failed, judge whether or not it was fixed, then make my decision, but I'm leaning towards a quick fail. Brambleclawx 20:13, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Sounds good :). Airplaneman talk 20:58, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

I added that table thing that shows what quality and importance WP:Warriors articles are. Its under the articles section. Brambleclawx 18:25, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Wow, cool, I've been looking for that!!! Where'd you find it? Airplaneman talk 19:00, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey. I have pretty much completed another article that I want to submit for FA or GA in the future. Do you mind copy-editing User:Ophois/Fresh Blood when you get the chance? No need to rush, so feel free to take your time. Thanks. Ωphois 05:44, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

I'll certainly take a look. Please tell me when you nominate it for FA or GA; I'd be happy to participate! Airplaneman talk02:45, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup flag

Hi Airplaneman! The flag you chose for the 2010 WikiCup was removed either because it was already taken by another editor, or it didn't meet the criteria. Please select a new flag before this Friday, that is "under a free license that is of a (current or historical) continent, country, state, county or city and has NOT already been chosen by another contestant." Thank you, iMatthew talk at 13:09, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello! This is Belugaboy535136. Airplaneman is on vacation until Sunday, and will probably not be able to get it by Friday. Thank you for your time,Belugaboy535136 (talk) 17:02, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
