Re:Chaser Episodes Comment Boxes
The boxes are for comments on that episode. I have done an example in Season 1, Episode 26. It's pretty much just for information and facts on that episode. Most of theese are from the DVD commentary track, but they don't have to be. For example in the episode where Chris wants goes on Sunrise and swears..etc. I great bit of information on this episode would be about the spread of the clip on the internet and how the got more viewers in the next episode becuase of it.
And please feel free to add to the very incomplete guide. For example in the new episodes i know there are stuff missing from the first and third episode. Such as the Qantas still 61% Australian bit.

My Other Accounts
Those are accounts I created earlier in my wikipedia days, ardo111 was and still is what name I prefer to use for all online related affairs, so I made that account. I came back a while later, and had forgotten that I had made the account and made ardoh. Then I made ardo191 after again forgetting that I had made these accounts. This was over the course of maybe.. 6 months.. So after getting about 500 edits on wikipedia with ardo191 I wondered what accounts were using those names, looked them up, and tried some of my frequent passwords, and they worked. So I just signed my main account page Ard0 (Talk - Contribs) and left them. I don't use those currently; I have in the past, obviously why I created them. I've been working through Category:Unassessed rail transport articles lately and found the HHL redirect when I assessed Haverhill (Amtrak station). Looking at the HHL page history, the redirect was originally created on March 8 referring to something called "Habbo Hockey League". My practice in adding the station code disambiguations has been to leave redirects in place and create disambiguation pages at the appropriate "(disambiguation)" location and let other editors decide to do the page moves. This situation is one where we might want to reconsider the destination for HHL and move HHL (disambiguation) to HHL, especially since a quick search for "Hockey" within the Habbo Hotel article turns up zero hits. I think you do need to discuss at the village pump about cleanup templates, and templates that are displayed on countless amounts of articles. You will have to ask someone else about which templates need to be discussed at the village pump first, because I am not entirely sure. No problem. The raids were perpetrated by Encyclopedia Dramatica (I would show you the link, but the entire site has been whitelisted). There are no verifiable or reliable sources for this. The many IP vandals (who come off of sites like 4Chan and 7Chan to engage the editors for spite) who have edited it want it included to make a statement. Honestly, I have to disagree. Help:Archiving_a_talk_page says, "If possible it is better to archive talk pages during a lull in the discussion, as it is best to avoid archiving in the midst of an active discussion so that the full context of the discussion is together," and "you should leave current, ongoing discussions on the existing talk page." Archiving active discussions on a talk page is not helpful, and may force people to either move back some sections from the archive (as Merzul himself already did for one section,) or they may just undo the archiving entirely. Archiving a talk page for an article that is currently a featured article (as Atheism currently is) is the opposite of waiting for a "lull in the discussion." Many of the sections you had archived had received new comments just hours earlier. Next time I would recommend archiving only the conversations that appear to have stopped, and leave the ones that are currently active. Thanks. -- HiEv 00:07, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
I apologise for my mistake. Long talk pages trigger the message at the top of the editing screen, and I do know how having a long talk page filled with old discussions can affect users viewing the page. I decided to archive, and the previous time I archived the page I received no comments on wrongly archiving active discussions, so I went ahead and archived. I hope you see this from my side and realise that I did not intend to archive active discussions, and my only intention was to archive and remove lagginess from the talk page. Actually, you have received a comment for wrongly archiving active discussions before, as seen above in Premature archiving of Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style. When you archive talk pages just be more careful about leaving active discussions and only archive the ones that are in a lull. Alternately, you could archive an active discussion and refactor it if you think it's gotten too long and complex to follow. I wasn't suggesting you did anything wrong on purpose, I'm just letting you know you need to be more careful in the future, especially when making large changes to pages. -- HiEv 03:29, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

One question I have in advance, however. I notice most all of the other writers for Wikipedia tend to use abstract nick names. Is anonymity a preference or a necessity? Should I change my "name"?
Hi again, David. Anonymity is definitely a preference at Wikipedia. Many users tend to choose a username that they can edit under without people knowing who they are in real life. I, myself chose "Spebi" as it was a nickname a friend had given me, even though it is quite similar to my real life name.
If you are concerned about your username revealing your real life self to others online, it is possible to change your username from your current username to an online alias, which is entirely up to you, as long as it follows the username policy. This process is called "renaming a user" and "usurping a user" to a different user name. Renaming is renaming your user account (keeping contributions, everything else) to a user account that is currently non-existent. Usurpation is renaming your user account to an already existing account (as long as the target account gives consent).
After reading both my messages, you will probably think that Wikipedia is governed by alot of policies and guidelines, and those who violate will be blocked from editing. It is quite easy to follow the policies and guidelines, and there aren't that many of them. And if you do happen to break a policy or a guideline, Wikipedia will never block you from reading or simply viewing Wikipedia.

It is not common knowledge. Millions of people read Wikipedia every single day, and probably more than 3 quarters of those millions have not heard of Sunrise, let alone Samantha Armytage. Is it just me, or did you completely revert my post on the habbo hotel talk page? I really don't know how that is justifiable as "experimentation", I just wanted to point out that anyone who thinks they don't exist should go look at it when the new raids occur on the 7th and the 12th. Your attitude on this whole subject is that of a nazi denying the holocaust. Please, please just tell me what I did to justify you taking that down so I don't put it back up in spite of you. I did not find it offensive, just annoying that you reverted it. I have seen nearly all of the trolling taking place, and I tried to stay away from that. I didn't suggest that anyone put the first raids on the page, I just mentioned that a second and third raid is up and coming. I would also like to ask you to witness, first-hand, these raids, so that you can better understand what happened. Okay, that much I'm clear with, it just seems that everyone who doesn't want it up there says that. There are plenty of pages out there that don't cite sources at all, and yet they are not removed from wikipedia. IMO I think someone has it out for ED and the raids, but that hasn't really mattered much for the past few months.

My recent edits to the Ethanol fuel article seem to be objectionable to at least one individual. I was hoping you might take a look, and provide a critique and/or suggestions for how I can improve. When you have time, please see the "Land Use", "Alternatives", and "Economics" sections of this article, along with the bottom of the discussion page for that article.
I'm not asking you to back or support any views I've presented. Rather, I hope you will let me know if my edits are appropriate and/or useful, according to Wikipedia guidelines and policies. I don't know whether or not "Johnfos" is a Wikipedia administrator. But I don't want to find myself butting heads with someone who might "block" me from any further editing. My general impression is that Johnfos will very likely object to nearly any content in his article that challenges the production of ethanol fuel.

Euthanasia: First Sentence
Hey Spebi --
I noticed you've been editing the euthanasia article a bit lately. If you're feeling ambitious, I'd really appreciate your opinion on the first sentence of that article.
Time was, the sentence made sense, but a Crusader went and changed all that. Now it's a jumble of poor grammar, semicolons, and parentheses.
I gave up, since the topic is too controversial for my taste, and I had trouble satisfying some of the more passionate editors.
If you get the chance to check out the talk page, familiarize yourself with the debate, and throw in your 2c it would be much appreciated.

Ideally there won't be any objections this time -- if there are, I hope we can make all parties happy without compromising quality and coherence. Hi Spebi, in British English, 'Guns N' Roses are' is seen as correct and in American English it's 'Guns N' Roses is' (I don't know what is correct in Australian English'. Although I think 'Guns N' Roses is' is correct, it doesn't matter which is in the article but I reverted the edit as the rest of Guns N' Roses' article is written in American English. Neither 'is' nor 'are' are incorrect, but when editing articles it's best not to unnecessarily change it to your preferred style of English. Bucketheader 14:54, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

it may be a FA, but someone has introduced new claims after it was classed as a FA. as you know every claim must be citated! as for schools, I would like a citation for that, because I know in urban NSW, schools are located near places of density rather than open space to maximise number of students in catchment area. That section is back to normal now, and from now on I'll respect your wishes. However, what I typed there (On July 18, 2007 an alternate mix of "Madagascar" leaked on the internet. There's much speculation as to whether it is official or a fan made mix.) is true, it did happen, a new mix did leak. Whether or not the mix was fan made or official, I felt that posting this was valid since it had to do with the forthcoming news on Chinese Democracy. GAC is a process for determining which articles are good articles per the good article criteria. It's very informal, but you basically stick your article in the appropriate section, and someone comes and reviews it (instructions are all on the page). Ask me if you need any more info. I had always thought it was supposed to be only one link per article, too. But in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links) it says "Good places for link duplication are often the first time the term occurs in each article subsection" and that only one link can actually be underlinking in a long article. Canberra
Thanks for the explanation. I lived in Canberra for 30 years before moving to Sydney 4 years ago, and the reasons I added the information are:
- most people may be unaware that Canberra has produced those players (apart from the Canberra Raiders and Brumbies players)
- the article on Canberra has a mix of history weaved into its sections, and this is important sports history for Canberra
- Canberra is seen by many people outside the ACT as lacking character. Recognition of sporting success is a very good tool for countering this. I was also hoping that others may be inspired to add famous Canberrans to other sections of the article e.g. artists and entertainers, business people
- If the list needs to be shortened then I would suggest sticking to O'Connor, Campese, Hird, Jesaulenko and Bevan.

I've tried to locate my original source for this image, however haven't had any luck. I'll keep at it so we can attribute the image accordingly. It certainly looks to me like a police evidence photograph. Just a few things... firstly, given that template is in my user space, I would have appreciated being asked rather than just having you change it. Secondly, I already had a delayed subst in the code, which means that the "PAGENAME" variable gets substituted when the template is substituted onto the talk page, and therefore, when it gets archive it still works. First of all, the count was about 40 (about 80 edits because of an omitted piece of information). Secondly, FYI, I had posted at 5 logical locations for this topic:
After about 5 or 6 hours with no responses I decided to just go down the featured list log and notify recent (Sept and Oct) nominators of featured list candidates and closers of featured list discussions because they would be interested in the topic. WRT, WP:CANVASS this clearly passes 3 of th 4 criteria and likely passes the 4th. I.e, it is transparent, neutral and non-partisan. The only question is whether it is excessive cross-posting. In this issue the question is who are involved editors. I could have sent messages to all persons who have participated in FLC discussions. However, the people who are most involved in FL content are those who nominate the articles and those who close the debates. I am considering doing June, July and August this afternoon with this in mind. Okay, you reported 172.163.27.244 (talk·contribs) on the page (diff) for "insulting me on their talk-page after a warning". I'm not sure which IP you are talking about here, but looking through this IP's contributions, I see no edits to any talk pages. Initially, when I removed your report, I had not checked that user's contributions, and just looked at the talk page and saw no warnings for the supposed insults. My apologies if this incident has caused you any incovenience. Well, the warning was not on my talk-page but on the talk page of User_talk:172.163.27.244. I see only now that a different but similar IP 172.163.22.73 had made the Stalinist(...) remark on User_talk:172.163.27.244, and subsequently removed the automatic signature: [7]. The IP 172.163.22.73 also was edit-warring on Philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche with a similar homophobic remark. Now still another IP is reverting there. I hadn't noticed we were using American standardising with the dates, but we should be using Australian, since the text style used should match the source of the subject matter (i.e. they're an Australian band, so the date formatting should be in the format used bu Australians, so day then month). I just don't really see the point of changing all the dates on all the articles to satisfy some sort of criteria that doesn't exist. All the Manual of Style says is that whatever format we use, it must be used throughout the whole article. Nothing about same format throughout all articles in a topic, nothing about format based on locality (that was for dialects of English). speedy criteria
If you want to become an admin, read WP:CSD, where you will find that fictional characters can not be speedied as non notable, only real people. there's a reason for this, which is that ,many articles on real people are easy to judge unequivocally as non-notable, but fictional ones are easy to misjudge if only two people look at it. LOTD experiment
Now that my project is fully up and running, I though you might want to consider the four main benefits of my method over the one that you seem to be supporting:
There is a set of orphaned articles for persons who do not have any featured lists of their own or persons that would like to take responsibility for more. Anyone can nominate such orphans. This benefits WP by getting people involved in list articles that might not have active editors to update them or defend them against vandalism. Please consider adopting one of our orphans.
Each list will be encouraged to respond to commentary and feedback during the candidacy period, which will hopefully improve the quality of the articles.
Articles without pictures will be encouraged to find them. E.g., List of Harry Potter films cast members had no image before its nominator added an image for this experiment. This type of thing, of course, improves the project.
Articles are encouraged to add relevant projects to their talk page. This alerts other project to articles that they would likely have an interest in and would be able to either improve or protect.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 17:41, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I do realise that the username blatantly attacks Chris G (talk·contribs), however, AIV isn't UAA. He has been blocked, but I just felt that it really wasn't necessary to report; 2 edits to Canberra, an article unrelated to Chris G, to me just don't "indicate a vandalism-only account". Not a problem at all. Generally taken offensive user names create a high risk level for vandalism (EG: Bad faith against a username). Personally i believe that a bad faith username counts as a vandalism on it own, which leaves space for two additional vandalisms. When that threshold is reached, i simply report them. (Note: ONLY when its clear vandalism such as blanking, adding clear proficiency lines, or intentionally adding wrong information.) It might be a little fast, but after reporting 500 or so vandals, it kind of became clear that this is for the best in 99% of the cases (It saves myself and my fellow vandalism partols some work) :) --Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 08:53, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

I think I'd be able to help you a bit more if you provide the YouTube video in question, or perhaps the article which you hope to cite the video in. It is possible to cite a television episode without having to link to a YouTube video, I have done this before, and it is possible to cite books without providing a link to a copy of the book online. So, I think that the answer to your question is yes, it might be considered acceptable to use that interview on YouTube as a reference, but in terms of "reliable sources", it may be better to find a transcript of that interview, or just cite the interview episode directly using {{cite video}}. Not to go against your will but the user I reported 86.135.249.89 commented on my talk page as can be see(here) after I had logged off which means an act of vandalism was committed but was not detected until later and if I am right that still counts as vandalism even if it was later. If you read the edit it states "We the none Nazi's" and not only that the user seems to be under the impression that we are a socialist website "As Wikipedia was set up as the "Socialist International's" mouthpiece; then, either you allow point of view, or you are simply; "The Nazi Party"; hiding behined, "The Socialist International"." To my knowledge we are neither a democracy or any other form of government as they go against WP:NPOV...I really hope I got that one right...anyways. Okay, you made this report to WP:AIV at 02:39 (UTC) today. In your report, you stated that the IP address in question had vandalised your talk page (diff, at 23:26 yesterday) after a final warning. The final warning was given on his talk page at 22:46 (UTC) yesterday. If my version of events is correct, the order of what happened was attack → warning → AIV report, and so I removed the report from the noticeboard, knowing that a block should not be instated. I'm assuming you are referring to Jump City, correct? I deleted the article under speedy deletion criterion G4, which allows any page that has been recreated after it was speedily deleted, or deleted by deletion debate. In the case of this article, it was originally deleted per an AfD debate, and then deleted 3 more times under CSD G4, and I just happened to delete the article a fourth time, and the title has now been protected for recreation. The removal of the tag
The article has no reference and citation and no intention of the creator to improve the article in almost a month. After I encountered the creator once, I convince that the article is result of his thought. The editor is very famous for his "certain" sentiment. The grade of importance is very lowest among Korean related articles. I may I tagged the unsuitable tag, but I think it is to be expanded by the creator or to be deleted because there is too many important Korean stub articles here. I removed the tag simply because the article didn't meet the speedy deletion criteria it was originally tagged for. The article wasn't eligible for deletion under CSD A1; articles that don't provide context of the subject, or articles that cover what the subject does, but not what the subject is, so I removed the tag. If you still believe the article meets speedy deletion criteria, but not the one it was originally tagged for, review Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion and see if it actually does. Otherwise, you could try prodding the article and after 5 days of the deletion being uncontested, it will be deleted. Spebi 07:33, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I have a complaint about the above user, whom you recently blocked for 31 hours, due to vandalism, abusive editing, trolling and generally being a pain in the rear. However, you also, after blocking the user, declined their unblock request (see here, here).
This should generally be left to a third-party, neutral Administrator, even in clear-cut cases like this. It helps uphold the integrity of the appeals process of our blocking system, as I'm sure you'll understand. If you disagree with my complaint, I'd be more than willing to discuss it, but otherwise, cheers for your time and catch you around.

I would like to make contact with the main editors or writers of the PSYCHO 1960 film article. The article itself did not seem to provide a way to do this. The article seems to have been drastically reorganizated including deletions of certain items with no explanations provided. One point that was deleted I know myself to have been incorrect, so that is probably why it was removed. However, several other online sources still use the older version of the Wikipedia article, and the same basic incorrect information is quite popular on the Web elsewhere. The real story behind the error is quite interesting in its own right, so I would like to include it in a newer version of the article or perhaps make a separate related article. I have plenty of documentation to back me up. I would like to make contact with these editors to find out the best way to do this and perhaps discover exactly what their expertise on PSYCHO is. If you need more precise information on exactly what I am talking about, please let me know. You have my permission to forward my letter to the appropriate person.

I ignored that rule because we shouldn't be just paying attention to the amount of votes. That particular FLC ran for at least 10 days (11, or 12? hrm...) and so consensus to promote had been achieved. I'm not rushing anything here. I took a look at the subpage and it clearly stuck out at me as "consensus had been reached". It's a valid opportunity to ignore the so-called "4 supports" rule, and in my opinion I don't really see how waiting the extra day would do much at all. And I doubt that in this case the lack of 4 supports was due to a lack of not being visible for long enough. It was on the page longer than the "10 days" rule says, and I saw that all the concerns raised before it was closed had been addressed. I'm not going to start a discussion on WT:FLC, because I don't want to change the "4 supports" rule. The reason why WP:IAR is in place is to allow rules to be ignored, not to allow rules to be changed so it can only be used in extreme cases. Hi, would you please talk some sense into User:Demantos. He is trying to merge Godsmack discography with Godsmack. Godsmack has enough music to warrent a seperate article for discography, and any substantially successful band has one on wikipedia. Please comment on his talk page, and comment here.

My report that was removed

I guess the editor is referring to this reporting of two IPs (likely the same editor), one of which was blocked, and the article was semi-protected, so the report was removed for the second IP. Hope that gives some background! Ariel♥Gold 04:31, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Controversial articles debated controversially
Subsequent to the Australian federal election, 2007, an edit war sparked on the Australia article, debating over whether newly-elected Labor leader Kevin Rudd had earned prime minister status yet over current Prime Minister John Howard. The debate died down after protection was applied to the page, but later sparked the creation of another article, entitled Prime Minister-elect. The AfD for the article continues today.
An article pertaining to the Australian federal election for 2010 was created, and later debated at another AfD. Some argued that the article was purely speculation, and that the article was a clear violation of WP:CRYSTAL, a variation of Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, which states that Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, and shouldn't be used for speculating about a subject or articles that predict future events. The article was later retitled to Australian federal election, 2011, after new evidence came to light regarding the election being scheduled for that year.

Quality watch
Yet another crowning took place on the project in the past month – November 2007 was officially crowned by members of the project as "Australian FA" month. No less than seven articles were promoted to featured article status last month making it the month with the highest amount of article promotions the project has seen since its creation. Among the seven brilliant articles promoted in November were Variegated Fairy-wren, Dream Days at the Hotel Existence, Ian Chappell, 1999 Sydney hailstorm, Karmichael Hunt, Arthur Morris and Powderfinger. Hopefully more articles to come. Big congratulations to all who contributed – you're doing a great job.

Hi. I deleted the page Diggeh under speedy deletion criteriaA7 and G11. The article failed to assert the importance of the subject (A7), in this case, it failed to meet any of the criteria for inclusion outlined on Wikipedia:Notability (web), and the article appeared to me to be an advertisement (G11). If you are willing to rewrite the article, with an assertion of notability and writing it in a way that doesn't make it sound like an advertisement, I'd be happy to restore the page. Hi. Long ago an article I created about another TWN person was deleted. However, that was because the person was no longer an on-call producer on the TWN site, so the source was no longer avalible. However, I never got notified about this prod, and didn't know the article got deleted until now. Could you show me the reason and contents of the prod? The PROD reason given was "Non notable weather presenter", and the tag was placed by Nuttah (talk·contribs) on December 2, 2007. When I deleted the article, the proposed deletion time had expired and there were no contests to the deletion. If you want, I can temporarily restore the page if you have a need for a particular part of it, or provide you the whole contents as they were when they were deleted by e-mail, but to have the page restored back to normal, you will have to list it at Wikipedia:Deletion review and follow the methods there. As for the lack of notification, it's a necessary step for the proposing editor, as it would seem unfair to the author not to have a say in it, however, I'm not really sure that a notice of deletion is usually handed out. Hi. Why is this particular article non-notable? I've created other articles about TWN broadcasters, but that was only because some of the other broadcasters already had articles. So, I created the new ones. If the overall topic of TWN broadcasters were not notable enough, why did the original ones get the articles in the first place? Do the broadcasters all have to have some major achivement, and is that something this person in particular doesn't have? Is it only because this article had been deleted more than once previously, and someone watching it that had seen it previously deleted saw it pop up again, and said it was unnotable? The article for Michelle Jobin which was previously deleted was deleted because the only reference had expired. Should the articles have a source other than just their TWN page to ensure their notability? Also, I'm rather new to deletion review, but I'll go see what it's about. Unfortunately I was not involved in proposing the deletion at all, but I did make the deletion when it was time for it to be made, but when I checked up on it, no apparent attempts to contest the proposal had been made. I strongly suggest talking to Nuttah further about this matter rather than myself. If you do decide to reincarnate the article through Deletion review, I suggest you create the page in a user subpage to move into the main namespace if consensus is to overturn the deletion and rewrite the article. This also allows people who comment in the debate to see what the article will look like and will it differ from the old deleted version. If you do decide to do this, I strongly suggest you read Wikipedia:Notability (people) and its criteria to see if Natalie Thomas does satisfy it, and if she does, the article must state it. This is quite an important stage in rewriting deleted articles as you need to convince those in the debate that an article on Natalie Thomas is needed in Wikipedia. The FrugalReader page has been deleted and forced from being recreated, even though it was only deleted once. I feel that this page should be undeleted and back to the state it was before deletion.
It is much like PaperBackSwap, which has been online for the same amount of time.
It has been offering Author Spotlights, which is not offered by any other book trading site (to my knowledge).
It is fairly well known, with about 2,000 members.
I ask you to revert the page back to its original state before deletion.
I deleted FrugalReader (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) because the article failed to assert the importance of the subject, in other words, the article didn't say why the the subject met our notability guidelines for web content, Wikipedia:Notability (web). I urge you to read this page as it contains important guidelines for articles about web content and though the website may merit inclusion in Wikipedia, the article needs to state why. And for the record, the page was deleted three times before previously before I had deleted it recently (see deletion log), and so I protected it from recreation, although I can remove the protection so you can rewrite the article up to standard with Wikipedia:Notability (web) and hopefully not have it deleted again. I apologise for the lateness in my response to your query. I have viewed User:Ksax/FrugalReader and come to the conclusion that from the information and sources provided in it may not satisfy notability criteria. The article provides two sources, the first is this article from SmartMoney; which explains some of the basic details of FrugalReader. A criterion for inclusion in Wikipedia is significant coverage in multiple reliable sources, but this excludes sources that state "a brief summary of the nature of the content or the publication of Internet addresses and site" – quote from Wikipedia:Notability (web). The second source provided, an article about online book sharing from USATODAY.com, contains merely a quote from FrugalReader's CEO. I'm afraid that it does not appear that the FrugalReader site is notable, but if it is, the article in your subpage does not state if it is, and why. Spebi 21:21, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Hello Spebi, I personally don't know anything about Powderfinger, so my comments could be somewhat limited to portal aspects.
Have you tried adding more articles? You can add the remaining GAs that you haven't added. As for pictures, you can definetely try commons:Category:Powderfinger and at least double the # of what you have currently.

hi there Spebi. I propose we start an interview section each month where we interview an Aussie Wikipedian, preferably an obscure person who has done a lot of work but is not well known or famous, so that everyone can get to know them. First off, I would propose Phanto282 (talk·contribs) a cricket editor that is not well known outside WP:CRIC but has done a lot of work. He has written (basically by himself): Donald Bradman, Alan Kippax, Lindsay Hassett, chuck Fleetwood-Smith, Ian Chappell and Greg Chappell (or under his IP) and probably a few others as well. Seeing as I already know his work it might be better if you did this interview, else my ramblings might make it a bit too detailed for the non cricket tragics. I agree with you on the fact that it does take a long time to review, and I don't think that this process should be one to be rushed or have measures in place to speed it up. I can either re-open the candicacy for you and close it after those particular comments have been addressed and rejudge the consensus, or I can leave it and remember this for next time (it'll stick in my head and scream quite loud when I'm closing it). For the record, your note about the portal's category header had been fixed, the Did you know image fixed, and the image enlargement may have something to do with this discussion. No, this particular warning isn't invalid, however, since the vandal you reported edited over half an hour before you reported, we cannot take action on the report. Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism is a noticeboard not for silly old vandals, but for active vandals. The information under the header "Important - please read" is there to be read, not to be ignored, and is to help users by informing them of when to report and when to not. Active as in the past few minutes, and I will define this in the header in a moment. IP addresses, unless static, almost always reassign themselves to another user so placing blocks on vandals who haven't edited for several days, for example, would be a damaging method instead of a preventative method, which is what it is intended to be. If the user you are encountering vandalises again after the final warning (which was at 21:34, 27 November 2007 (UTC)), make another report and I'm sure that the user will be blocked. You're clearly missing the point here. The user you reported was an IP address, not a registered account, and to use the term "vandalism only account" or similar is misleading and incorrect. Although it seems like just a term, it really isn't, as the blocks placed on accounts and blocks placed on IP addresses strongly differ; most IP addresses aren't static and are often reassigned to different users, and so a long (for example, indefinite block) block will most likely not affect the intended user indefinitely. Accounts are intended to be for one person, and will never be reassigned to other people, and so the blocks can be indefinite. As for the report you made, it appears that the user had not vandalised after a final warning as there wasn't one, and so cannot be blocked due to being unsufficiently warned. Yes, I am completely aware that it was not a registered account, and as I said above I wasn't suggesting an indefinite block, just a short-term block to interrupt the repeated vandalism that had been going on this evening, clearly by one person, after reverts and warnings. And I realized afterward that Nlu was correct that I had given a level 3 not 4 as I thought, as I said on his talk page, although the warning after mine should have been a level 4 because there were 4 more vandalisms after my level 3 warning, and at that time it wasn't clear that the vandal was finished. I was not trying to punish, I was hoping to prevent further damage to the articles he was attacking at that time. As I said - it's all good, assuming he doesn't come back. Thank you for your support in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate, that landed on WP:100! I paid close attention to everything that was said, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. happy Mango season
'TIS MANGO SEASON.... Have a shlice of mango cheek...well, I am up to my armpits in the things. Yuletide means lots and lots of mangos, as well as turkey and ham and ice-cream and pressies. Were on special so I bought 3 crates for AU$20 and now I have both crispers in the refrigerator full and even with everyone eating two of the ##$@& things every mealtime... Australian Wikimedia chapter
Wikimedia chapters are independent organisations run by Wikimedians to further promote the Wikimedia projects run by the Wikimedia Foundation, and to "empower and engage people around the world to collect and develop educational content under a free license or in the public domain, and to disseminate it effectively and globally". This means that we in the chapter can promote Wikipedia and other Wikimedia wikis and their contributor's work in our area. Currently, a chapter for Australia is in discussion. Recent happenings
2007 has been an excellent year for WikiProject Australia and its members – a sudden rise in article quality (see "Quality watch"), more article collaboration, portal creation, gap-filling article creation, image requests fulfilled, newsletter writing and award awarding. Success!
Portals and "topics" go hand in hand (not really), and many within the project and throughout Wikipedia aspire to achieve featured topic status for a particular topic. Goals to promote all capital cities to featured status, and among others, a Powderfinger featured topic, and a featured topic on The Invincibles cricket team. It's for sure that 2008 will be filled with Aussie pride, so hang in there with those flags, everyone! Especially on Australia Day, *hints surprises* :)
Of course, writing featured articles and making up clever hooks for use on "Did you know" isn't the only way to contribute. Many users contribute day-in, day-out, maintaining the project and portals, tagging and assessing articles, making suggestions at featured article candidacies, coordinating collaborations within the project, responding to peer reviews, save valid articles in deletion debates, in short, the stuff that if not done, will cause the whole project as we know it to slowly deteroriate. Many users who don't qualify for awards like Durova's Triple Crown award, qualify for others.
Moondyne recognised the users who work tirelessly every day to make sure that every thing is running smoothly by introducing a new award – the Drover's Award. Initiated in December, eight users have already received an award that is set to become a prestigious award for all Australia-related topic editors; SatuSuro, Longhair,
Spebi, Moondyne, Grahamec, Mattinbgn and ScottDavis and more are sure to be awarded. If you know of any users who work tirelessly behind the scenes and have not yet been recognised for their greatly appreciated efforts, award them the Drover's Award.

2007 saw a major feat for WikiProject Australia: one hundred articles were promoted to good article status. This is huge not only for the project's individual members and those who helped achieved such an impressive statistic, but for the whole of Wikipedia. Everyone involved has given readers from all around the world a chance to learn about Australia and relevant topics from the best of sources available on the Internet. A huge congratulations to all involved. And congratulations to Underneath-it-All, who wrote "2 Hearts", which passed as a good article, officially making him WikiProject Australia's "Good Article Centurian" and the article the one hundredth Australia-related article to be promoted to good article status at any one time.
Speaking of statistics nearing the number 100, WikiProject Australia has also seen an increase of the number of articles being promoted to featured article status. In November last year, seven articles were promoted, earning the month its official title of "Featured article month" of WikiProject Australia, and making it the month with the highest featured article achievement. Viva la featured article revolution! Also seeing some activity were featured portals – many have already been promoted, and a wave of excellently-crafted ones hitting our shores very soon.

Candidates for Deletion
Hello, I just finished talking to jj137♠ about a page he deleted, "My Michelle", by Guns N' Roses. I was pretty upset when I found out the page was deleted, because that's one of my favorite Guns songs, and it had a lot of info on it, which is hard to track down on the internet. He undeleted it for me, but said that he only deleted it because it's tag was expired; he had nothing to do with tagging it in the first place, and said I should voice my concerns to you.
Keeping that in mind, the tag said it was proposed for deletion because it lacked "notability". This is what I wrote him regarding that:
Firstly, it is a song from what is undisputed considered a landmark album. While I am not very familiar with the official policies on album articles, it is certainly an unofficial convention that just about every song from a landmark album is considered notable due to its presence on said album. Just because it wasn't released as a single doesn't mean it is not notable. Please see The Dark Side of the Moon or pretty much any Beatles album for examples. Secondly, disregarding the "landmark album" angle, it is a song that is rather famous for its content. The story behind the song is famous and has intrigued many people; just do a Google search for the story behind it. Thirdly, following logic similar to the second reason, it is simply a loved song. I know from viewing pages on the internet and just my own experience with friends and other fans that this song is very popular, and deleting the page does a great disservice to any fan that wants to learn more about it.
Finally, I'd just like to say that whether or not a song is from a notable album or whatever, Wikipedia has becomes a great resource for fans of just about anything: video games, music, movies, whatever. When an article such as this is deleted, it really does a great disservice to fans who are just skimming and looking for info: the type of people that aren't active and don't participate in Wikipedia maintenance or what have you, but still make up a very large portion of the user base. I would ask that that be kept in mind when looking at potential articles to be deleted, when they relate to a cultural (and ESPECIALLY musical) matter. I mean, if Wikipedia is really hurting to get rid of some pages, there are plenty of absolutely useless import model pages laying around. But of course, I suppose that's all in the eye of the beholder.
Hi GrimmC. Jj is right, his part in the deletion was minimal despite the fact he actually made the deletion. I proposed that the article be deleted because there were no claims of notability in it. This does not mean that the song is not notable, full stop. This means that I could not find any part of the article that meets a single criterion in Wikipedia:Notability (music) (which I strongly recommend you read). My grandma may be the oldest superstar in Hollywood but everyone knows her under a completely different name – if I was to write an article about her and just put "she is my grandma", it would be obvious that the subject is not notable; however, she clearly is notable, yet the article has not said anything about her being a superstar. Articles need to say why they are notable, or face being presumed to be non-notable. You see how this works?
I'm not sure about unofficial conventions on other websites, but our official conventions are listed on Wikipedia:Notability (music). The unofficial convention of "every song from a landmark album is considered notable due to its presence on said album" will not apply here. If you find that the song "My Michelle" meets any of the criteria on Wikipedia:Notability (music), in particular, criterion 1: "It has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable", then I advise you to tell me about this.
I know it seems like it is important to have a base of all music-related information and all that other stuff, but we can't just create articles over nothing and expect people to consider them to be reliable. It's true, we're trying to build a comprehensive encyclopedia. But we're also trying to make it a reliable encyclopedia. If we were to be as comprehensive as comprehensive gets, would you want to read through thousands of articles about your virtually-unknown neighbours and include totally inaccurate information? If you have been paying attention to technology-related news in the past few years you would know that Wikipedia isn't considered to be the top source for information when researching a topic on something that Wikipedia covers, especially considering the fact that anyone can change any detail without providing any source whatsoever, and can do it without anyone immediately knowing who they are. We're trying to build a comprehensive encyclopedia here, but at the same time we are trying to make it a reliable encyclopedia.
I've had another look at the article and have noted that no sources whatsoever have been used in the article. I'm not particularly sure about the other criteria and if the track meets them, so I'll leave that up to you to decide. Basically, by that guideline, singles are automatically considered to be notable, yet other tracks are different. This passage is from the guideline I keep citing in my reply to you:
Most songs do not merit an article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for a prominent album or for the artist who wrote or prominently performed the song. Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been performed independently by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable. A separate article is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; permanent stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album.
I am willing to give you another chance to rewrite the article My Michelle. If you can find reliable sources, and I can't stress this enough, reliable sources that verify the claims in the article about the subject or find that the song charted highly on major charts or won significant awards, feel free to rewrite the article from scratch (if you want, I personally find it easier to work from scratch and know what you're writing rather than to improve with all existing text polluting your mental workspace) and include these claims. If you're not particularly sure what counts as a reliable sources, check out Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

Right-o. I hear ya on the notability thing--it rather annoys me when I read an article that has no sources. It just upsets me when articles are outright deleted. Fortunately, I happen to have a copy of Slash's autobiography at arm's length, so it will be no problem at all to add in a reliable source. In fact, that's how I discovered the article was deleted to begin with--I've been going through all the Guns N' Roses articles I have reliable info on and have been updated/adding sources to them. I'll check it out in a moment. Just as soon as I'm done reading the notability guidelines, heh.
Okay, so I read the guidelines and re-wrote the article a little bit, but not too much because I already liked its format. But most importantly I added some new info and found some sources for the various claims it makes. Hopefully this will be acceptable.

As the closing admin for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Armless, what would you suggest should be done with Category:Bethany Hamilton albums, also mentioned in the discussion? I apparently have to wait four days before tagging an empty category for speedy deletion, but that seems pointless -- there is no evidence Bethany Hamilton will be launching a music career -- but at the same time, the category seems to have been (mistakenly) created in good faith as a response to the creation of the hoax article, so it can't properly be considered vandalism. --Popplewick (talk) 10:36, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Cascading protection
Beware when using cascading protection, as it not only protects the most immediately transcluded page (e.g., your archives), but also every other article and template, image, or other media included in it and below it (i.e., it would fully protect any template or image that occurs in any of your archives-- regardless of where it occurs) --slakr\ talk / 23:16, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I received a message on my talk page asking me if I would unprotect User talk:Lollipop-3. Of course I wasn't going to accede to such a request (banned users don't need talk pages! :)) but I noticed that in fact it's no longer protected. You probably know better than me whether protection is required or not, and I don't know if it was removed intentionally or accidentally. I'm looking at the logs now at it appears to be protected until January 2009, which is when Lollipop-3's block (and/or ban?) will expire. I think it is an accepted convention to redirect a user's talk page to their user page when they are banned, and or indefinitely blocked, because a), they won't need it like you said, and b) to avoid confusion. Although I'm not particularly sure whether an article belongs here about it, I know for sure that it can't be deleted through speedy deletion. WP:CSD#G1, which is the criterion for deleting "nonsense" things, states, "Patent nonsense and gibberish, an unsalvageably incoherent page with no meaningful content." It goes on to state that the following are not included: "poor writing, partisan screeds, obscene remarks, vandalism, fictional material, material not in English, badly translated material, implausible theories, or hoaxes of any sort; some of these, however, may be deleted as vandalism in blatant cases". The Hahl article does not meet G1 at all, which is why I declined its speedy deletion. However, this does not mean the end of the road for deletion. If you still have a problem with the article, I suggest you either list it at Articles for deletion (debated for up to 5 days, or whenever a consensus is reached, by the community) or propose its deletion through PROD (the article will be tagged for deletion [not speedy] and if no one contests within a 5 day period, it is deleted). That sounds like a good idea. Perhaps we could even consider putting the whole table syntax into a separate template titled {{Award table}} or the like. I don't think anyone has ever considered doing this; I certainly haven't, and no one I worked with on the Powderfinger awards list brought it up (maybe because we didn't spend as much time on it than we did on Powderfinger discography, whose infobox was later implemented into a template). I would say for Rodney Davies to be deleted it would have to undergo another AfD. Many articles are deleted through one debate if they are in a particular series, however, this one differs, and I think it would be best if the Rodney Davies article is debated again. Thanks for the tip. I usually allow creation of an account because many IPs are shared by different users and blocking innocent users' ability to create accounts can cause collateral damage. Copy of a deleted page?
I was wondering if you'd be able to furnish me with a copy of an article that was deleted in January 2007. The article in question was Degrassi's 40 Go There-ist Moments on The-N. The article was first deleted in November 2006 as a result of an AfD. After that it looks like it was created as a redirect to an inexistent title and later speedy deleted. I can provide you with the contents of the article (the version deleted in the AfD). Are you willing to improve it with intent to later put it back in the main article space? Hm, it hasn't arrived yet. How long do emails through Wikipedia usually take? I have no idea of my intent yet, not without seeing it. If it can be expanded on, then maybe I would. I would probably work what's there into List of Degrassi: The Next Generation miniseries episodes, or the main Degrassi: The Next Generation article. They take the same length as normal e-mails take to send. You may not have the e-mail you use regularly set as the e-mail address in your preferences, and so by sending the e-mail through the Wikipedia e-mail interface, I've sent it to the address set in your preferences. The article itself does appear to be a list of the 40 moments, however, it appears those who commented in the AfD debate were not under the impression that the list was the actual "40 Go There-ist Moments on The-N"; many were under the impression it was the creators' who decided what episodes would appear on this list. Requesting undo of Prod (Frïs Vodka)
I checked deletion log, not there, went to DumbBot (Prod summary) found it in archive on Dec 8. I see the justification for deletion was simply "advertising". This was not designed as advertisement or marketing for a brand of vodka, I simply considered it to be a notable vodka (one of only two mass produced brands from Denmark, as opposed to the several dozens from say, Russia) and this is written in a way that should be in line with other articles on brands of vodka. I deleted Frïs Vodka (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) because its proposed deletion tag was in place for a period of 5 days, and the deletion was left uncontested. I did not take any part in proposing the deletion at all, I just carried out the deletion, however, I have restored the article in accordance with the Wikipedia:Proposed deletion policy. Looking at the article now, it does not appear to be advertising at all, however, if it is listed at Articles for deletion be prepared to back up claims of notability. Hi. I didn't start the page, Tentac (talk·contribs) did. A proposed deletion (PROD) tag was placed on it, and according to policy, if there were no objections to the deletion, the page will be deleted after 5 days. The reason was "Written in second person--does not state notability", and the tag was placed by Zginder (talk·contribs) on November 19, 2007. After the 5 days passed, I deleted the page. However, I can restore the page for you, but be prepared to defend the article should it be listed at Articles for deletion for the same reasons the article was proposed to be deleted in the first place. Powderfinger's philanthropy consists of charity concerts and the ATGD tour, which have a lot of information about them, and so it requires its own section. Bernie differs, and the only philanthropic acts he has done were the ones that Powderfinger did, so unless we can dig up some more acts or large donations, or solo performances at charity concerts that we can add, the info should be merged into Music career (in chronological order) or just be removed at all. I have blocked Applletree for impersonation of you and Cvcc as an abusive sockpuppet of Koreakorea1 per checkuser evidence. I really don't see any reason to not just create a new request; you obviously have a lot of evidence that I think, for better organisation and maintenance, should be placed in a new request. It's not hard to put together another case. Sometimes you can add a small extra request to the end of an existing request, but in this situation it appears that a new request is warranted. Yep, I deleted those as duplicates because {{Oppose}} and {{Support}} were both deleted in this TfD from June 2005 (however, I'm quite sure that they have been deleted in another TfD in later times) and so they qualify for deletion under WP:CSD#G4. Sure does. The templates I deleted were exactly the same to the ones in the TfD (with the exception of {{NeutralVote}}, which I think used a different grey icon). The community has decided as a whole multiple times that voting templates with icons are unnecessary and should not be used, so it looks like they will stay deleted if this goes to DRV. Over the past couple of months, I've been assisting a couple of gentlemen to write revisions for the article on "Social Credit". As they are not familiar with editing on Wikipedia, I suggesed they write their revisions in a text editor, and then I would help them post the changes. Last week, they sent me their changes, and I created a "Sandbox" page, where we could all to edit it together. Then yesterday, I received an email from one of them stating that he's been banned from editing Wikipedia. After checking Wikipedia guidelines, I asked him to verify. While he hasn't provided and details as to why he's been banned, he confirms that he's been banned until January 2009.
Meanwhile, I am now aware that editing Wikipedia on behalf of someone who has been banned places me at risk of losing my own editing privileges. Therefore, I have placed a tag at the top of our Sandbox page, requesting that it be deleted. Please tell me, have I handled this appropriately, and are there any further precautions I need to take? Most importantly, have I avoided getting myself "banned" or "blocked"?

Suggestion regarding the FA wall
I just wanted to point out that the Alternative music FA wall is cluttered again. I also have a simple suggestion that could reduce your work in shifting all that text whenever new FAs come in. Maybe if you had the left side column longer than the right side by around 5-6 entries then whenever a new FA came in, it would be easier for an editor to add a new FA entry to the wall correctly and also you would need to shift text around only once in a month or so. Challenge
Here's a challenge as I recall you liked playing around with user pages, can you make one with a torn, old-parchment like border and a beige, mildly textured and stained background, on which the text can be set in Ye Old Englishe so as it looks like some 15th century document or something? Brrr, these eyes creep me out... Just a note since I've seen that you often don't move the cases in the main RFCU page: There's a handy script from Voice of All that allows to do it easily (as well as archiving). Message to you from Kermanshahi
I see you had tagged all those accounts as Sockpuppets for Kermanshahi... However I am not the sockpuppeteer and do not have any involvement in this scandal. Twice I have been accused and both times I was not found guilty and was unbanned. I've been on wikipedia for over 1 year now and have made over 4100 constructive edits. I inted to carry on editing and have been doing so quietly, please do not involve me in this. Also you can easily see that I am a different person, geographic locations might be close but IP's are different, I edit completely different subjects, have a totally different style, ect.

The request was filed under your name, however, evidence linking the sockpuppets to you or Mrlob came up as stale, and so it was not possible to compare the accounts to you or Mrlob. Out of interest, am I, as the blocking admin, allowed to decline the request for unblock when (as with the above) it's so clearly a vandalism only account, and their request shows no merit whatsoever? Or should I leave it to another admin? GBT/C 22:15, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, valid unblock requests should generally be left up to another administrator to review, however, as the request in this situation is totally invalid it is fine to revert it (declining probably isn't the best option) as I have done. Use your judgement to determine what is an invalid, bad-faith unblock request and what is not. Cheers, Spebi 22:18, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Regarding this, I'm glad you picked up on that—I originally had it as "it", but settled on "the text", so as to prevent any confusion: "it" could possibly be misinterpreted as "the decision"—"The final decision was not to promote. My request for bureaucratship
Dear Spebi, thank you for taking part in my RfB. As you may know, it was not passed by bureaucrats. I would, however, like to thank you for taking the time to voice your support, despite concerns cited by the opposition. Although RfA/B isn't really about a person, but more about the community, I was deeply touched and honoured by the outpouring of support and interest in the discussion. I can only hope that you don't feel your opinion was not considered enough - bureaucrats have to give everyone's thoughts weight. I also hope that the results of this RfB lead to some change in the way we approach RfBs, and some thought about whether long-entrenched standards are a good thing in our growing and increasingly heterogenous community. I was a little miserable after the results came out, so I'm going to spread the love via dancing hippos. As you do. :) I remain eager to serve you as an administrator and as an editor. textured backgrounds

Entirely possible. Unfortunately, the software disables using the background-image: parameter when styling with CSS, although you can use a z-index (an object with a higher z-index appears on top of other objects with a lower z-index) to position it just behind the text for a textured look. I guess it would make the whole page load a bit slower, particularly if you prefer to archive only when there is a full moon, or when you reach 100 items on the table of contents. I personally, speaking from a point of view of a person who isn't highly knowledgeable in the area of server strain, don't think a tiled background would be ideal. Although we aren't really meant to worry about server performances, I think this would be in the interest of everyone who visits your talk page.
