Thank you so much for the snazzy new userpage. And kudos for choosing the general blue appearance! Here's a generic message :-) SoLando (Talk) 23:33, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

I just realised you are actually a girl! Here I've been thinking that the first person to greet me, the person who I consider a friend, was a mid 30's male! To my eternal surprise I now know you're a 14 year old girl!!! Well anyways.... Spawn Man 07:56, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Hello, I saw what you left on my talk page. I stumbled onto the ISFDB end of wiki recently while googling myself. I periodically check to see if I have received any new reviews of my novels. They had a stub up for me, but no article yet and had not yet moved my ISFDB bib over to it. I asked ahaseurus if it would be okay to go ahead and put the bib in or if I should wait for them to do it. He said that it was okay, but I might as well double-check because I don't want to offend anyone. According to him there is already a general wiki stub up for me also waiting for an article and he said to put up a bib there also. But again, I don't want to overstep the bounds of propriety.

I'm not that well-known these days because I quit writing fiction for fifteen years and went into journalism and editorial work. And, I'm really not certain what I would put into the thing anyways besides just a plain bib.

I would appreciate getting some directions and advice.

AfD

[edit]

Seeing as you have some experience with VfDs, what would you do in the case of the article Snaps (game)? An anon added the AfD template [1] on May 22nd but did not list the page under AfDs or create the discussion page. (he couldn't create it though) The voting page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Snaps (game) was finally created by a voter on May 29th. SandBoxer 03:01, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I am trying to edit the Jean Marsh Page. I am able to edit the article but not view the Discussion page. I would like to see the Discussion page to see what people say about the article. It says you blocked me for vandalism, but I din't vandalise any pages. I'm assuming it's a mistake right... I really am not a vandal! I'm new to this and a bit confused! Delete Rhiannon Waits??

[edit]

Excuse me but she has done more than write a book. She has her own Talk Show and she is a syndicated columnist. There is more to her than one book. Why would you try to delete pages that I add? It is not vanity - I am not Rhiannon Waits or Richard Sutphen so how could this be vanity? I may be slow at adding but it is because many of you come in and try deleting before I am done with pages. I have turned this in to Tony Stubbs who has two New York BestSellers to see if I had edited correctly and before I get it back someone is trying to delete it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MichaelleWoodbury (talkcontribs)

Requesting your assistance

[edit]

Since you were so friendly welcoming me to the Wiki community a while ago, I decided you would be the person to ask. I think I have stumbled across an idea that could strongly benefit Wikipedia, but I would need some help doing it, or someone to show me how. I think that there needs to be a new Template:Infobox in the spirit of Template:Infobox_River for lakes; specifically Template:Infobox_lake. Unfortunately, I am having some difficulty finding a resource to show me how to do this.

Of particular interest to me would be the bathymetry of every lake. As it stands, if you read the wiki article about a random lake (such as Lake Baikal or Lake Huron, there is information about the maximum depth, number of islands, etc. But I think it should be standard for a lake to have an image depicting the floor topography so that a reader understands that most lakes are not merely big holes in the surface of the earth to a specific depth, but rather have unique and very interesting floors.

But even without said bathymetry images, a standardized infobox would very much benefit lake related wiki pages. If you know of a resource with regards to creating templates of this nature, I would be very interested to hear your thoughts on the matter. If such a template already exists (I have looked quite hard for it, but sometimes looking for wiki-policy type info is like looking for a needle in a haystack) please let me know. Finally, if it's fast and you feel energetic, by all means feel free to create this template for me! Haha ... fat chance, right? :D Anyway, thanks a bunch. Em3rald 18:23, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Thank you for your prompt reply :D ... and yes, I am not totally done with my layout yet, and I wanted to make sure it was all good before I tagged it with your name -- wouldn't want to sully your reputation with a crappy rip-off now would I? :D And I will indeed take the time to review the links you've given me about my template idea, but it will indeed take time. I will be sure to let you know if I need your input. With reference to your layout - you might consider formatting up your code sorta like I did - it makes it easier to navigate, and for blokes like me to rip you off hehe 8). I don't think I have cleaned up ALL of my code as of yet, but it does make it easier to see what y'er doing. CHEERS! And thanks again ... Em3rald 00:22, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for deleting them. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to recreate them as redirects to Barney & Friends cast? Though that would probably require that they be semi-protected. Let me know what you think. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 16:20, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

The AfD which you recently closed as "keep" is being contested by the submitter who has listed it as "withdrawn" on all templates. He did withdraw his nomination, but not until well after a concensus was reached that he did not agree with. I do not care which of the two states it should be in (though "keep" implies that it won't be AfD'd again, while "withdrawn" leaves that open), but you should be aware since you closed the AfD and may have an opinion on the subject. Hey hey hey! Well there we go. It wasn't so difficult, actually, but as you can see, Template:Infobox_lake is complete. If you have any suggestions as to additions, changes, or anything else with respect to our new Template, please let me know ... or go ahead and do them, I will see them eventually. Otherwise, just have a boo and let me know what ya think.

On a different note, do you have any suggestions as to how to promote it a little? How do we tell the world that it exists??? Em3rald 06:43, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

CSS and Wikipedia

[edit]

Here I am bugging you once again. Hey, I work nightshift sometimes and I get bored ;). Anyway, since I am fairly well-versed in the usage of CSS, I was curious if there is a way to use it any other way than INLINE within Wikipedia. I would love it if I could create a .css file (similar to monobook.css I guess) so that I don't have to keep re-writing the CSS code on every page. But even just having a CSS script at the top of a page to simplify page formatting would be cool. Any thoughts? I suppose I could just create templates for everything, but I don't think that would be optimal. Em3rald 07:46, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the info on CSS and the Templates. As for the correction, LOL! You know, I had indeed noticed that you are female (though you don't prominently advertise it aside from your one section 8.5), but for some peculiar reason, I defaulted with the him. Don't ask me why ... haha, but itsallgood. Glad you caught it :D Now I am off to see what ya did with the template ;) Em3rald 02:33, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Annoying Question

[edit]

You say on your userpage that you maintain a policy of mass annihilation of vandals. If this happened, (which is very unlikely) administrators like you would only be useful in deleting pages. You would likely get bored with no vandals to revert. So here is a question for you: What would you do if there were no more vandals to revert? You don't have to answer, of course, since it is past 10:00, and you are probably sleepy. :) BANG! 02:06, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

A couple of questions

[edit]

Hey there Sango123, how are you? I've been doing alright, can i ask you some questions:

1. when you put to brackets like this [[ ]] around a word, does it turn it into an article? Also, are the red articles, the ones that are empty, do they still count as articles?

2. Hypothetical, lets say some moron deletes my entire User page, how do you revert it?

3. Are you very popular on wiki? I frequently see a lot of "Thank you messages" etc?

4. Do you have in term holidays at your school, i'm having them now?

See you Pece Kocovski 04:54, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

I hope you don't mind that I answer some of these - to take some work off Sango.
  1. Watch as I link a bunch of silly words. If you link to something and the article exists, you'll see a valid link. If not (as above), you'll see redlinks indicating that the page does not exist. You have to actually go in and create an article for it to exist where it wouldn't otherwise.
  2. Go to your page history, edit the version below the vandalised one (and save) and you've just reverted vandalism - see how easy it is?
-- I'll leave the rest for Sango to answer -- — Nathan (talk) 05:25, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, i was meant to ask that: In the main page, you knwo how there is the "1,199,432 articles in English", well does it inrease simple by addind bracits to any word like i or you did before?

Pece Kocovski 10:03, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

I know what you meant and no. Again, an article has to be created for that count to increase. Simply linking to nonexistant articles (aka "redlinks") isn't going to do it. Just linking to some nonsensical article, doesn't automatically create that article. You still have to go in, type some stuff (bearing in mind the Wikipedia Guidelines) and save it, thus turning it into an article. Only then will the count increase because you just created that article. — Nathan (talk) 21:49, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

An editor has nominated the closure or deletion of the article UCIP for deletion review. Since you closed the deletion discussion for, or speedy-deleted this article, your opinions on this will be greatly appreciated. Hi Sango123, just trying to make sure that admins are made aware of DRVs for *fDs that they've closed. --Deathphoenix ʕ 18:55, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

No problem. It's happened to me a couple of times in the past when I wasn't notified of a DRV for one of my AfD closures, and I've often felt more than a little annoyed when it happened (it's just lucky that I sometimes keep an eye out for DRVs of interest). I put in some instructions for DRV nominators to notify the closing admin if they submit a *fD for review, but no-one ever reads those instructions anyway. After someone else complained about it, I decided to do something about it and am going to notify closing admins of any new DRVs that pop up if the nominator doesn't do so. :-) --Deathphoenix ʕ 20:06, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I'd like it to have like a t rex skull in the middle of a barnstar, or a bone barn star or a bone barnstar with the t rex skull in the middle etc etc. I'd appreciate anything or if you could point me where to go in a step by step easy to read way... Thanks mate (or a more girly way of saying it such as See ya?). Bye, & thanks, Spawn Man 09:54, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Absolutely fabulous! Now what do I do with it? Do I have to get it approved or anything? You're really special! Thanks a lot! Spawn Man 02:36, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch! You're awesome!... Spawn Man 02:42, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Oh, I hope this is right: Wikipedia:Other awards/Wikiproject.. And I also hope you don't mind that I credited you too. Thanks again, & if you need anything, (you probably wont cause you're soo much better at barnstars than me), then don't hesitate to ask... Spawn Man 02:52, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
  • There is an infomal protocol, that before an award, or star, is listed on the Wikipedia:Other awards page that it first get vetted on the Wikipedia:Barnstar and award proposals page. I went ahead and made the move for you. Please feel free to have evryone involvbed with your wikiproject comment on the award design. --evrik 15:11, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Olympic barnstar

[edit]

Hi there Sango. I was wondering if you could do an Olympic barnstar for me please. I did ask Mopper, but he seems to be away at the moment. Anything goes, more or less. All the best, and mail - Blnguyen | rant-line 02:44, 22 June 2006 (UTC).

  • Check out Olympic Barnstar and Sportive Award. --evrik 15:11, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
    • It seems like it would be a good idea, but twice (mine included) the idea was shot down. Mainly, I think this was because of the fact that the Olympic rings are a fair use image. If someone could think of a better way to create an Olympic barnstar without the rings, that'd be great and would make a wonderful proposal. For now, though, I'm not so sure that it'd work. Please, though, give it a try if at all possible! JARED(t)  17:35, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
      • Yes, I am aware of the previous discussions and was thinking of using an Olympic Flame instead of the rings. The Running Man Barnstar already covers work in sports, but this could probably serve as an award for WikiProject Sports Olympics. Sango123 18:03, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
        • That might actually be a good idea...I hadn't thought about it. I'll try to see if I can come up with a nice design myself...you're on...! Haha. Just kidding. JARED(t)  18:23, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
          • Here's my slightly simplistic rendition of an Olympics award for WP:OLYMPICS, in an award box. Please feel free to critique/edit it. JARED(t)  19:47, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

[[Image:Olympic Torch award.png|right|thumb|50px|The Olympics Barnstar]]

I added a comment to Jared's talk page, but thought I should add it here as well. This image of the torch is even worse than the rings as the main part of the torch is actually a copyright violation. Sue Anne 20:15, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
I don't understand what you're trying to say. If you're suggesting that I got the picture from the Olympic.org page (which I did, so you're good!), I thought that everything on that page was free use. I guess I don't know where I got that though, but I thought I remembered reading it somewhere, so I pulled the image from: http://www.olympic.org/uk/games/torino/open_torch_uk.asp

So now, what are you suggesting that I do? JARED(t)  20:40, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Torch draft
I like your image quite a bit, but if it doesn't work out, maybe we could have something like the torch to the left over a barnstar. What do you think? Sango123 20:55, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
I do, also, like that image. I'm not sure of placing it over a barnstar, as that seems so "cliché" now on Wikipedia, haha! I'm sure it'd work though. I'll see if I can either find a similar image, or so something ... I really do like the one I made though (...) JARED(t)  21:05, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Heh... I like it too. :D Maybe the handle of the torch could be tweaked so potential problems can be avoided. If the torch were to end up over a barnstar though, is there any way we could make it more unique, like Image:WPD Barnstar.png? Sango123 21:35, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Aha! Could we somehow make the flame into a 5-pointed star shape?! That might be interesting... I'll see if I can work that out... right after I do something with the image. JARED(t)  21:45, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Great idea! I'm off for now, and if you don't beat me to it, I'll try to play around with the image later tonight. Can't wait to see what you do with it! Sango123 21:55, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Discussion continued here. Sango123 17:12, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Trading spaces

[edit]

Hello, Sango123, thank you for signing up to participate in the trading spaces program. As you requested to renovate another user's page, you will be renovating Ikiroid's userpage. Please contact Ikiroid on their talk page about the renovating. The renovating will be listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject_User_Page_Help/Trading_Spaces#Undergoing_Renovation, please feel free to update the status as it changes. Enjoy!

Hi Sango. Thank you for volunteering to help me out. I've looked over your previous work, and I have to admit that I'm impressed. I like your style of soft colors and rounded borders, it adds a very friendly effect to a userpage. My only request is that my avatar image and my visitor's box be kept in the end. Anything else is really up for grabs. If you want, you may feel free to add userboxes from my userbox page. Thanks again, and feel free to ask me any more questions you might have about style and content. The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 01:28, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

A New Wiki for you to look at

[edit]
The Logo for the Psychology Wiki.

Hi Sango,

I found your userpage randomly because I had seen you help a lot of other wikipedians. I've only been editing Wikipedia for a few months, but I've used it for a couple of years. Anyway, I have recently got involved in this huge project, The Psychology Wiki and am now an administrator there. The only thing is, I'm still quite new to editing, and while I can happily write Psychology Articles, my coding and wikitext skills are still developing.

It would be really great if you could have a look at our Wiki, offer advice or criticism, and maybe offer some tips on how to fix some of our templates, which are clashing, e.g. this article, which we are trying to clean up as an example of how the Psychology Wiki will work, and how it will be different from Wikipedia.

See also my Beginners Guide. What else should I add to this for new people?

Thanks very much in advance :) Mostly Zen 12:12, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update

[edit]

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

RE:Admin Coaching

[edit]

Oh yes, I saw your additions just now, it all looks good, I have nothing further to add at the moment. Shall we give him a couple of days to read your answers and then move on to policy knowledge? -- Banes 15:10, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

That sounds like a good idea. :) I'm going to be online very little this next week (a bit busy) but I'll see what prescribed reading I can dig up. Cheers -- Banes 15:25, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Nice Welcome

[edit]

Thanks for the nice welcome note. I'm new to Wikipedia, but I will be back. This is amazing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NormStephens (talkcontribs) 15:47, 25 June 2006.

Now you've got mail!

[edit]

I'm sorry not to have responded for so long. I've just sent you an email. Please check it out. Thanks --Srikeit (Talk | Review me!) 18:11, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi Sango, I'm on IRC right now, can you come? #wikipedia or #wikipedia-esperanza. Thanks --Srikeit (Talk | Review me!) 18:01, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you!!!

[edit]
Here's a barnstar created for you.

Thank you so much Sango!!! The page looks totally awesome!! Plus, If ever add anything, you've given me a great format to build off of: if I need to add something else, I can just copy one of the rounded boxes and change what's inside. Here's a barnstar for your wonderful work!--The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 18:41, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Userpage Q

[edit]

Hey, Sango, you're the userpage expert around here. Anyway, Ikiroid doesn't mind me stealing the design for his page, so I'm gonna change my page and use that basic design (see my sandbox). Is there a way to get the blue box to entend down the entire page so it contains the userboxes at the bottom? I've tried moving round bits of code, but it just ends up in a mess. I'll be grateful if you can help. -- Steel 19:12, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Ah, you've actually solved a different problem. I was actually referring to the two huge groups of userboxes (From where is says "Blank space" to "This user is a student of economics"). Sorry for the confusion, probably my fault for not being specific enough. -- Steel 19:58, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, that's it. Though now I've seen it, it looks a bit weird. I'll play around a bit more. Thanks a bunch. -- Steel 20:08, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Hello Sango123

[edit]

Sango, you deleted Snape's Worst Memory but another user recreated this with no deletion review. Do you think you could delete it again and leave a message on the user talk page of the user who created it again? Reply on my talk page. ForestH2 21:28, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Already deleted --ForestH2 21:38, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

I have decided to retire

[edit]

Hello Sango123. I just wanted to come here and thank you for everything before I retire from wikipedia. I have decided not to stay for various reasons, mostly from the past. I have seen what this place has done to people, and I have decided to not let it happen to me. I don't know if I will come back, but regardless I wanted to thank you. You were always nice to me, and for that I am forever greatful. Thank you my friend for everything. Matt B."aka" Thetruthbelow 04:42, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey  :)

[edit]

My secret is out! Hehe, it probably doesn't help that I offer to tell anyone... See you around the wiki. :) Wikibout-Talk to me! 19:58, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Can I ask you a favor? If you are any good with Image tags, please look at this page. The image seems to be free to use on websites, but I don't know how I would tag that. If you don't know what to do, I'll find someone else. Thanks. Wikibout-Talk to me! 21:42, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. I'll probably use that. Wikibout-Talk to me! 19:37, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
