[edit]

Hello, Dumoren, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions; I hope you like it here and decide to stay. We're glad to have you in our community! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian. Although we all make mistakes, please keep in mind what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful.

Re: Dumoren message

[edit]

Hi, Dumoren, thanks for dropping by my talk page. :)

1) My 'specialty' is fiction and humor, preferably in short-story format.

2) I've been here since late March 2005.

About the image dilemma: In order for it to show, you must first upload it onto Wikipedia. First, save the desired image onto your computer. Then, go to the panel at the left of the screen and find 'Upload file' as one of the listed links. Click on it, upload the image from your computer (using the 'Browse' button). Provide a summary; make sure to include an image copyright tag. Wikipedia:Picture tutorial can be helpful in positioning images. Please let me know if you need anything else.

Regards, Sango123 13:45, July 16, 2005 (UTC)

P.S. You can sign your comments (on other people talk pages, for example) by typing in ~~~~. This produces your name and a time stamp and should look like this:

[edit]

I'm glad the image uploading worked. About my name... 'Sango' means 'coral' in Japanese, and I suppose I just like the sound of it. :) And '123' was just a random number I added to my username so it wouldn't get confused with the article Sango. Regards, Sango123 14:40, July 17, 2005 (UTC)

Excellent pictures! However, to prevent them from being listed on Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion, I would suggest citing the websites where you found the images and adding an image copyright tag (see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags). Please let me know if I may offer assistance in tagging them. Thanks, Sango123 14:06, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading Image:Lich.jpg. Its copyright status is unclear, so it may have to be deleted. Please leave a note on the image page about the source of the image. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for a list of copyright tags that you can use. Thank you. Bryan 07:48, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Having just scanned through your recent uploads, there are quite a lot of images in here with no source or licencing information. Please make sure to provide that for all images you upload in the future, Wikipedia can't keep stuff that it can't determine the source for. Bryan 08:05, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging

[edit]

Please provide the websites where you found these images, and I will help tag them for you:

Sango123 13:11, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

I'll help too, if you like. I already tagged a few that were obviously screenshots from movies and games, for example Image:Uruk Hai soldier.jpg is clearly from Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies. I suspect a lot of the monster images are from Dungeons and Dragons monster manuals, the art style is familiar, but I didn't tag those because I wasn't certain. Bryan 23:31, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I crossed out the ones that have already been tagged. However, I removed Image:Www.brickshelf.com gallery SaberScorpion DungeonsAndDragons Sarevok sarevok yougofirst game.jpg from the list because it's orphaned and has been listed on Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. I was hoping that the others could be tagged as {{fairuse}} if the original websites could be obtained. Sango123 23:40, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Bolter.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bolter.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much.

The same also applies to Image:Bolter_pistol.jpg and Image:Warhammer_40000_Dreadnought.jpg. Please provide source information for all images you upload or we just have to do this, which is a waste of both your time and ours. --Pak21 08:05, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

here is the website for Bolter:http://www.nimbacreations.com/Attractions.htm
bolter pistol:http://www.40konline.com/community/index.php/topic,53235.0.html
dreadnought:http://www.danscottart.com/Warhammer.html
(previous unsigned comment from Dumoren).
Unfortunately, none of those sites would appear to allow reuse of their images on Wikipedia, so the images will still have to be deleted: see the second paragraph above about copyright tags for some more information on this. --Pak21 09:11, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging

[edit]

Hi, Dumoren. Please note that not all uploaded images can be kept or tagged, as mentioned above by Pak21. Check the source of the image, browse through Wikipedia:Image copyright tags, and if one of the tag descriptions applies to your image, then place the template on the image description page. For example, if you have an image of the cover of a book, then you would add {{Bookcover}} to the description page.

Also, please take a look at Wikipedia:Public domain image resources for a list of public domain image resources. Oh, and don't worry about my talk page archive. That edit wasn't permanent (I reverted it); other versions of the page are accessible through the page history. Thanks, Sango123 (talk) 17:04, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

For answers to your questions, please read Wikipedia:Image use policy#Copyright (images) and Wikipedia:Preferences. Thanks, Sango123 (talk) 00:15, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Lasgun.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lasgun.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Please, please, please provide valid copyright information for all images you upload. However much we would like to, we cannot accept images without copyright information. Various people have now tried to help you with this process, but you still seem to be largely ignoring the requirements of Wikipedia; if you continue to upload images without valid copyright information, I will request that you be blocked from uploading images, as your current contributions do nothing other than create problems for other Wikipedians. --Pak21 12:23, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use

[edit]

You wrote (on my talk page): "Fairuse: is if i found in on a website, right?". Unfortunately, this is wrong: if you find an image on a website you may not reuse that image (on Wikipedia or anywhere else) without explicit permission from the copyright holder. --Pak21 15:09, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • "so i use GFDL instead of Fairuse, right?" You can use the GFDL for any images you created (ie images you made the original of, not images you uploaded to Wikipedia). Images found on random websites cannot be used on Wikipedia without permission. --Pak21 14:13, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Then what do i use?" You may not use images found on random websites on Wikipedia. It is a copyright violation. There is no tag you can put on the images to deal with this. --Pak21 10:11, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • "how can i find out if the images are able to be put on wiki?" The various reasons that an image can be used by Wikipedia are listed at Wikipedia:Image Copyright Tags (as you have been pointed to multiple times). Of these, the most common are images explicitly licensed under the GFDL, or images which are covered by "fair use" (eg computer game screenshots or book covers). Amy other images may not be used on Wikipedia. "Have you answered my previous messages, particulary the one where it doesn't say anything about images?" No. --Pak21 10:59, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"how about before i put the message on wiki, you see for your self if its applicable": if you're going to upload images for which there is some reasonable belief that they may be covered by either the GFDL or fair use, I'll certainly help you put the correct tags on them. If you're just going to give a list of images you found at random on the web and want me to work out which ones you can use, I don't have the time to do that! --Pak21 12:16, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Josh Parris 00:47, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I found you because you had [[Victoria]] on your user page. But there's lots of Victorias - it's an ambiguous term. You happen to be in the one that Wikipedia:WikiProject Melbourne is interested in, and as such I though you might be interested in the Wikipedia get together on Tuesday. I intend to be there, and we have a vistor who's come to Melbourne to make a presentation at a conference, and wanted to meet up with local Wikipedians while she was here.
Yes, Josh is my real name. On Wikipedia I spend a lot of time disambiguating. But I'd rather be figuring out how to dig copper out of the ground. Maybe when enough other people are disambiguating I could do more article writing. Josh Parris 03:28, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I get that. I don't think there'll be drinking or any other "adult activities". It's not like there's any obligation for you to come, it's just an opportunity to actually talk, face to face, with some of the people kicking around on Wikipedia. Feel free to bring someone else with you, if that'd make you (or them) more comfortable. Josh Parris 06:22, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The meeting

[edit]

It was okay, a bunch of guys talking about "what Wikipedia means" and how it's going to change the world. We talked about changes afoot to make a "stable version" that could be vetted and printed out and stuff, that's kind of interesting. My highlight was the salmon steak I had for dinner, it was super nice. Check out the photos. Josh Parris#: 07:00, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

More unsourced images

[edit]

I have just tagged Image:Dungeon's and dragons Troll.jpg and Image:Bg skull2b.jpg as having no source information; again, these will be deleted in a week unless you provide valid copyright information for them. --Pak21 12:12, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • For what it's worth, I'm not "mad" at you; I'm just trying to make Wikipedia free from (potential) copyright problems. However, from those links you provided for these two images, they both look like having them on Wikipedia is a copyright violation, so they're going to have to be deleted. What reason did you have for believing them to be acceptable for use on Wikipedia? Thanks --Pak21 15:49, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

More images

[edit]

Of the images you mentioned, the only one which does not appear to have been already tagged or deleted is one image from the Sarevok page. If this is another screenshot from the game, you should tag it as "{{game-screenshot}}". If it's not, it may need to be deleted. --Pak21 11:47, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you're not sure an image can be kept, it's probably best to delete it. I wouldn't say the image is crucial to the article
"What does rendered mean?" Which bit of Rendered do you not understand? You may have heard of a fantastic resource called Wikipedia on which you can look up things like this without wasting people's time... --Pak21 10:12, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I removed your addition to this talk page in which you ask how to achieve something in the game in which this character is apart of. I've done this because a more appropriate place to ask that is on a game forum; Wikipedia talk pages are for discussion on how a topic pertains to its article, not on the topic itself. Thank you. Nufy8 18:07, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Talk

[edit]

Hi, Dumoren. I'm sorry if I had offended you by letting another user answer your question here, and for assuming you had accepted his explanation, as you came back to make this edit. All the answers to your questions are already on your talk page, by the way. ;-) My nationality is here, my age (before my last birthday) is here, and as for being an administrator, Wikipedia:Administrator can explain it in the depth you're looking for. Please don't form a misconception; admins are here to help. I'm always open to questions from new users, so feel free to contact me on my talk page, as long as it's about Wikipedia and not personal questions. Happy editing, Sango123 (talk) 19:58, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: query

[edit]

Yes; take a look at the following excerpt from Wikipedia:Copyright problems:

In general, copyright exists automatically upon publication. An author does not need to apply for or even claim copyright for a copyright to exist. Only an explicit statement that the material is public domain or available under the GFDL makes material usable, unless it is inherently free of copyright due to its age or source. Under fair use guideline, brief selections of copyrighted text may be used, but only with full attribution and only when the purpose is to comment on or criticize the text quoted.

Sango123 (talk) 00:54, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Despite Sango123's unfailingly helpful replies and advice that you can usually use Wikipedia to find answers for yourself, you've still posted yet more irrelevant questions on her user page. Read my reply there, it answers your questions. Then please write some articles and stop bothering other users. --JRawle 13:35, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What is Wikipedia for?

[edit]

Hi Dumoren, I don't want you to feel too bad or think you make too many "mistakes". You just have to remember that the idea of Wikipedia is for people to contribute to a colaborative encyclopedia. It isn't a general chat board for making new friends. There are plenty of other websites for doing that! The talk pages are there to discuss issues relating to the articles, or about the workings of Wikipedia in general. I hope you will go and contribute to articles on topics you are knowledgeable about, as I'm sure you'll make a great editor! Just concentrate on that rather than trying to strike up general conversation with certain members via their talk pages! Best wishes, JRawle 01:06, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with JRawle. Don't call your questions "mistakes". You undoubtedly have good intentions and potential for great contributions, but you need to familiarize yourself with the Wikipedia policies and guidelines and become more independent in regards to research proficiency. Our goal with Wikipedia is to create a reliable and free encyclopedia: The largest encyclopedia in history, in both breadth and depth. [...] Its goals go no further. I welcomed you with helpful links back in July and provided even more throughout my other messages for a reason; it would be a shame if you didn't browse through and consult them to discover how beneficial and convenient they can be whenever you're seeking answers. ;-) Regards, Sango123 (talk) 01:26, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

All the information's there...

[edit]

Dumoren, the answers to your questions (as always) can be found on Wikipedia. Take a look at my user page for info about me, and look at the date when Sango123 welcomed me on my talk page (although I actually made my first edit on 8 February 2005 in the days before I had a username). Happy New Year

Did you stay up? Did you watch the fireworks? Wasn't it hot!

You must be on school holidays. Are there any subjects that you're looking forward to doing next year? Do you have to read any books over the summer holiday? Josh Parris#: 02:23, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, have you seen Wikipedia:Gaming Collaboration of the week? Josh Parris#: 04:17, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's an easy way to find out if wiktionary:hypothetical is a word: look it up in Wiktionary.
To clear the type-ahead in Firefox, Go to Edit|Preferences|Privacy|History and press the "Clear" button.
There are people called Wikipedia:Bureaucrats who can match usernames to IP addresses, but generally there is no relationship drawn between edits from an IP address and those from a logged in user. Wikipedia is almost an anarchy, but some people have a little more power/capabilities than others. It's like PKing in games - some servers let it happen, and then the population has to work to ensure it doesn't happen, by PKing the PKers.
So, you didn't answer any of my questions. What's with that? Josh Parris#: 00:49, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, when I did English they made us read the novels during summer holiday so we'd be ready to talk about them when we got back to school. The books you are doing in English this year probably have Wikipedia articles on them, it might make reading the books easier if you read about them first here, and maybe also about the authors. You might even impress your teacher with your background knowledge!

Graphic design, I did that in year nine (I think). You can look a bunch of stuff up about it, isometric perspective is something I remember learning about (and Orthographic projection). Diablo uses isometric perspective. There was some other good stuff too, like how you can draw a grid on a picture, and copy it one square at a time and it comes out looking pretty good (even for me, and I can't draw!). I did that with a sports car, I thought it was so great - problem is, cars date, so if you look at it now, it just looks lame. Meh.

That fund-raising drive finished - I think they ran it for three weeks. they raised USD$320K

I've stopped working so I can spend time with Cathy and our new son. I'll go back to work sometime, when I get bored and look for a job. Looking after the boy takes pretty much all of my time, even with Cathy and me doing it together. Josh Parris#: 07:57, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They spent USD$321K in the last 3 months, so yes it's a lot of money, but running a really big website can cost a fortune. Last year they spent USD$750K, and the traffic has been growing and growing. I think they only run it for 3 weeks because it's annoying to be asked for money all the time.
One thing I've learnt is that even things like drawing and singing, you can learn to do them with enough practice. So if you want to draw for a living when you leave school, practice drawing so you get to be good at it. Josh Parris#: 04:31, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, Wikipedia:Gaming Collaboration of the week is where people get together and make an article on gaming better. Arbitration Committee tries to sort things out when someone gets really annoyed by someone else. They can have people kicked off, or other things. People seem to get really annoyed by other people. Josh Parris#: 03:33, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Dumoren, I've been pretty good, but too busy to spend time on Wikipedia. Simple way to start the article is to edit it at Hunter: the Reckoning: Redeemer. Just like Sango says, read the articles on how to make a page, you could cut-and-paste the contents of Halo into your Hunter page, and then delete pretty much everything and replace it with Hunter stuff rather than Halo stuff. Templates put one page inside another. For information on templates and how they work, see wikipedia:Templates. If that doesn't help much, look in the template category, it might help. You can nominate and discuss (it's not a vote) future featured articles by going to WP:FAC. — Rebelguys2 talk 00:15, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

==Firkraag== A tag has been placed on your article Firkraag, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be a biographical account about a person, group of people, or band, but it does not indicate how or why he/she/they is/are notable. If you can indicate why Firkraag is really notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly, and also put a note on Talk:Firkraag. Any admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. You might also want to read our general biography criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that admins should wait a while for you to assert his/her/their notability, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and then immediately add such an assertion. It is also a very good idea to add citations from reliable sources to ensure that your article will be verifiable. AmiDaniel (Talk) 08:57, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed my nomination for speedy deletion as you have sufficiently asserted the significance of the topic. I must admit I am not at all familiar with the topic, and as the article contained no links to related articles and was in no way categorized, it appeared nothing more than sheer nonsense to me. Now I understand what the article is about and recognize it as a notable topic; however, I still feel the article is seriously lacking and needs significant improvement. I wish you the best of luck in improving the article in the future, and I apologize for trying to delete your work. AmiDaniel (Talk) 09:41, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How do you change the name of any article, image etc?

Use the move function for articles. For images, upload the same image with a different name, and tag the original with {{Isd|name of replacement image without the Image: prefix}} (for speedy deletion).

In america, how long are the holidays, two weeks for every turn and 6 weeks at the end of school?

We get summer vacation, spring break, and winter break (1-2 weeks).

How do you get awards on wikipedia, i notice alot when browsing along you user page.

Wikipedians often reward each other Barnstars and other awards for "hard work and due diligence". See Wikipedia:Barnstars, Wikipedia:Other awards, and Wikipedia:Personal user awards.

Hey, thanks for uploading these, but I'm afraid you can't use them on your userpage. When you have copyrighted fair use pictures, they can only be used in the articles about them, otherwise they're not fair use anymore. Can you please remove them? Thanks, Rory096 00:53, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not saying they have to be deleted, they just can't be on userpages. --Rory096 06:06, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Because they're copyrighted, and fair use only applies if you're using it in an article. User pages aren't articles, so we can't use fair use images there. --Rory096 06:11, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, you can use images that aren't fair use. And it's exactly because they are screenshots that they're copyrighted, since the game they're a screenshot of is copyrighted. --Rory096 06:15, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Repeated vandalism

[edit]

Hi Dumoren. Users who fight vandalism at times become targets of it themselves, as some vandals will attempt to get "revenge" when their edits are rolled back. However, all harmful changes can be reverted quickly and semi-protection is always an option in severe cases, so user page vandalism isn't anything to worry about. Re: A couple of questions

[edit]

Hey Dumoren, hope you're well. I'll continue the discussion here:

  1. Watch as I link a bunch of silly words. If you link to something and the article exists, you'll see a valid link. If not (as above), you'll see redlinks indicating that the page does not exist. You have to actually go in and create an article for it to exist where it wouldn't otherwise.
  2. Go to your page history, edit the version below the vandalised one (and save) and you've just reverted vandalism - see how easy it is? — Nathan (talk) 05:25, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, and there's more at Help:Reverting.
  3. That's not for me to say, sorry.
  4. Yes, I think I mentioned that before. We get summer vacation (which we're on until the end of August), spring break, and winter break.

License tagging for Image:Vin Diesel 3.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Vin Diesel 3.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned fair use image (Image:KraytDragon 1280.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:KraytDragon 1280.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:McDonald's_Happy_Meal_toys_(Australian)_.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Adalon. Speedy deletion of The Longest Memory

[edit]

A tag has been placed on The Longest Memory requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Chap5dameadalon.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Chap5dameadalon.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:Paramite.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Paramite.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 02:46, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have tagged Image:Two_Ogres.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. MECUtalk 14:12, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Two Ogres.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Two Ogres.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:32, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Paramite.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Paramite.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:57, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. Re: BG articles

[edit]

To answer your question directly, the CVG project had a discussion regarding those and it was decided all but Minsc had sufficient notability for Wikipedia. To explain it a bit better, the others didn't cite third party reliable sources that referenced the character in question; instead everything was from the trilogy. In a case like Jon Irenicus, most of the article was based on original analysis rather than cited fact. And the cleanup tags on those pages had been on there how long and in most of the cases touched by nobody in terms of improving them?

I have every right to merge them. If you feel you can find third party relevant sources to back up one of them, just do so. But the articles are gonna need an overhaul too. Look at how other character articles that have GA or FA status are setup and see what you can base it off of. In truth though you'll probably only be able to salvage Sarevok.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 13:31, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
