Amerivision Song Contest

The Amerivision Song Contest 1970 was the fifteenth edition of the annual Amerivision Song Contest, organised by the American Broadcasting Union (ABU) and host broadcaster Venevisión. The edition was hosted in Aula Magna, in Caracas, Venezuela, as the winning country of the 1969 edition, the Netherlands Antilles, refused to host the event, alledging a lack of budget and a big enough venue in the country for the contest, the offer then, was made to the runner up of the edition, Venezuela, that accepted to host the event.

This edition marked the debut of Nicaragua in the contest. Paraguay withdrew from this contest after disappointing results in the previous editions.
