Amerivision Song Contest

The Amerivision Song Contest 1969 was the fourteenth edition of the annual Amerivision Song Contest, organised by the American Broadcasting Union (ABU) and host broadcaster National Broadcasting Company (NBC). The edition was hosted in Radio City Music Hall, in New York City, United States, as the winning country of the 1968 edition, the Netherlands Antilles, refused to host the event, alledging a lack of budget and a big enough venue in the country for the contest, the offered was also made for runner-up Brazil, initially accepted to host the event but ended up denying the offer on March 1969 due to complications related to the recent aggravation of the censorship made by the dictatorial government at the time, therefore an offer was made to all countries interested in hosting the event, with Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and the United States making offers to host the event, with the american bid being the selected one.

This edition marked the debut of Barbados in the contest, as well as th Netherlands Antilles becoming the first country to win the competition twice in a roll, with the song "You're the One for Me" by Marva Hodge.
