Giridiana-Osterioë station is an interchange station on the Baeticia Metro and Corphis & Airport Line. As reflected in the name, the station straddles the border between the communes of Giridiana and Osterioë. With seven platforms and six tracks (five currently in use), Giridiana-Osterioë is one of the largest stations in the Baetician north. The station also forms an integrated part of Giridiana Plaza, a large shopping mall and convention centre.
Several notable landmarks within walking distance of the station include Giridiana Plaza, the Osterioë World Resort, Mythoraës Bouzelicus Market, Pethlametes Park and Aretoës Necropolis and Museum. The station itself has a several underpasses linking the station and Giridiana Plaza, allowing seemless sheltered travel between the mall and station.
History
[edit]Giridiana-Osterioë station is one of the oldest stations opened to the public on 4 Oghus 894. The station went through several expansions, that last major one being 27 Oghus 1013 when the Hieriscou Line was extended to Giridiana-Osterioë, where an additional side platform was added to relieve train congestion.
The station was integrated with Giridiana Plaza in 1004, forming one continuous building, Baeticia Metropolitan Services (BMS) bought a 70% stake in the mall.
Giridiana-Osterioë was one of several targets during the Giridiana Bombings by the GOC on 28 Avex 1005, in which ten people were killed on the station platform alone. Since 1007, Giridia-Osterioë is one of few stations to this day that do not have rubbish bins within the station's premises.
