Laerytion station
[edit]Laerytion Station is a major interchange station between the Rhybales, Schyntopolis-Haloucia, and Corphis & Airport lines. The station serves as the northern terminus of the Rhybales line, facilitating travel between the metro, commuter networks, and the city's airport.
The station serves the primarily residential communes of Laerytion Central and Tenabition. The station is immediately surrounded by Sanctus Mazoles Avian College, Temple of Atragia, and Iessima Food Centre. Since 1006, the station is connected to Laerytion Bus Terminal via an airconditioned underground underpass. The station has been wheelchair accessible since 1007.
History
[edit]The original Laerytion Station was constructed and opened as Laerytion North station in 894 during the height of Baeticia's railway construction boom. However, low ridership and a lack of demand forced the closure and eventual demolition of the original station in 949. With the completion of Baeticia International Airport in 965, renewed interest in Laerytion station resurfaced, and a new Laerytion station was built half a kilometre southwest of the station's original location. The station became the new southern terminus of the Schyntopolis-Haloucia Line. In 971, the Rhybales Line was extended towards Laerytion, the final most recent time that the Rhybales Line was extended.
