User:Hashmi, Usman

I saw your warning notice on Hashmi, Usman's talk page. I have been watching him for quite some time and basically all he does is create non-notable articles and categories that mostly get deleted, which when warned about he never replies to. He just blanks his talk page, which was discussed recently, and continues doing the usual stuff. I was considering if he should be brought to [[[WP:RFC]] to account for his generally disruptive actions but I suspect he will just ignore any talk page notices and refuse to interact with anyone as usual. I don't think he has ever actually interacted with anyone since his arrival. I have made 2 attempts to help him as have some other editors, but now I just observe. Excellent. I started working on a script to re-create a single page with all the messages left on the user's talk page (because it has been blanked so many times, it's very hard to get an overview from the history, and I felt that people were missing the picture). I abandoned that when people made an effort to work with the user (and because it was pointed out that restoring comments blanked by a user is not desirable). On a band

Uh I am new to this site, but I manage a band, Group Therapy. I took the time to make a wikipedia page for them today, but you deemed it unessecary for them to have one. I spent over 2 hours on the page, for you to just delete it. Would you delete them if they were signed? They actually do have relevance to alot of people in my area, so I would appreciate it if you would just msg me before you delete my page. I followed the rules to making a page, and I will make a Group Therapy page again. Deleyaman

Hello, I've received a proposed Deletion message after spending most of my day working on a page for a band called Deleyaman who is one of the most important, active and unique bands in the spiritual, ethereal, world music genre today in Europe and particularly in France. They are known in the U.S. by the connaiseurs of the genre and immensely appreciated. The band recently toured California and performed at the Herbert Zipper Concert Hall in Los Angeles to a sold out crowd.

In 2005, The Armenian Duduk music was proclaimed by UNESCO a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. This International four member band called Deleyaman is probably one of the armenian duduk's best representatives in contemporary alternative music today. I've included the references on the Wikipedia page, from where I've gathered most of the information. I sincerely hope that this page will not be deleted but on the contrary expanded. Thank you. If they are notable, then there's nothing to worry about; just add the independent reliable sources that show that they meet the notability criteria, and it won't be deleted. Yes, once you've finished adding the sources you're welcome to remove the tag. If anyone disagrees that the band meets the notability criteria they can recommend a community deletion discussion, but if they are as you describe them and the sources are there, I doubt anyone will do that. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 02:37, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello, I don't mean to bother you but I guess I need your help again. I saw that there was a message about genereal notibility guideline again on the Deleyaman page I'd provided. This time, I have no idea whom it is from since there was no message in the talk page nor an indication of a received message as I'd initially received from you. I have a hard time understanding why there is an objection to this article, since not only the band is notable but the page was expanded with more references and I also noticed that a correction was contributed from another source. The new information I gathered since I started this article only helped reinforce the credibility of this band to be in Wikipedia pages since the founder of Deleyaman happens to be noted in the Billboard Encyclopedia of Record Producers as a co-producer on a 1983 record release, with the quite famous and influential producer Spot from SST Records. Both, the producer and record label are on the Wikipedia pages. Is this message an automated warning or is someone behind it and if so, what shall I do to avoid removal of the article ? thank you for your advice. regards.(Araeolsaju (talk) 11:59, 9 June 2008 (UTC)).

I checked the block logs and it seems I did block the account I was intending to block as well, it seems to have happened a few minutes later but it's for the same thing, so it must have gone through at the same time. Nice work. Maintain a firm line against vandals. Seems to be a few more in the unblock queue--not actually the most clear cut case, as the two parties involved seem to be warring over a linguistic term that shares a linguistic connection. John Underhill

You removed the geology professor and SPL referee from this dab page because, according to your edit summary, he only referees children's matches (I've no idea where you got that from, he refereed an SPL match less than a month ago), Professor of Geology was apparently not notable enough on its own. I was expecting it to be removed because it was a red link, not because of lack of notability. I've put him back and started an article, hopefully you won't feel the need to remove this as well. When I removed it, there was no indication of notability and no sources cited; if he is notable and an article is created with reliable sources, then I have zero problem. Hello, members and friends of WP:LGBT! I'm not one to be writing newsletters, but I miss our cruise director, Miss Julie, and our project is drifting along with a few leaking plugs in the bottom of the boat. Hey, it happens. Every group we join goes through changes. If Wikipedia weren't so interesting it wouldn't also be so frustrating sometimes. And vice versa. More than one Wikiproject has tumbleweeds blowing through it, but this is one that can't afford to let that happen. Even if you pop in to the talk page of the project, you can let us know you're still around.

WP:LGBT's Role in HIV / AIDS articles

It wouldn't be a proper gay community without a li'l bit o' drama! That's right. If we aren't arguing about something, then we should be asking if we're still queer. Maybe that's for the best, since we know we're still kicking. Our most recent topic is how far the role of our project should go in dipping our toes into HIV/AIDS articles. The main AIDS article was delisted as a Featured Article last month, sadly. (Sending a swift kick to WP:Medicine.) A spirited discussion is available for your entertainment on the WP:LGBT talk page about just how much of HIV and AIDS should we take on. As ever, we'll take your opinions under advisement. We're going to have to, because it doesn't seem to have been settled.

Is Pride POV?

We have a pretty cool sidebar that identifies core LGBT articles. Its symbol is the iconic gay pride flag, much like other Wikiprojects have iconic symbols denoting the topic is a core subject in a series of articles. However, a question recently arose asking if the symbol itself is not neutral. Should a pride flag show up at the top of the article on Conversion therapy? How else would anyone know the article is about queer issues? Is there another symbol that is as widely recognized and that includes all our many splintered facets? At what point do we stop asking ourselves all these questions and just go have a mint julep on the verandah and stop caring?

Harvey Milk and Jim Jones

For the love of all that is holy, no Kool Aid jokes. However, an editor involved in pioneering San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk's article has included a section about the late supervisor's support of Jim Jones and the People's Temple. While it may be accurate, there is a Request for Comment regarding how much emphasis the section places on Milk's support in light of his overall political influence on the city, and indeed the rest of the United States. Milk's article is a sad one in more ways than one. It lacks the detail and heart that honors its subject. Anyone want to do a barter with me? I'll bring Harvey Milk to featured status (give me a month or two so I can read stuff), if you do something of equal value to WP:LGBT?? Make me an offer...

Queer Studies is offensive!

The established branch of study known as Queer studies was brought up as an category for deletion because an editor was offended by the use of "queer" in the title. It was overwhelmingly rejected mostly by the usernames I see here on our Wikiproject page. (A clue that I know you are out there, hiding...biding your time...) So, I wish I could congratulate you, but now I'm all confused by my sympathy for the editor who was offended. So, if you're reading this, Moni has a short memory and can't remember your username. Don't be put off by our demonstrative pushiness. Join us. We can always use involved editors.

Lambda Literary Awards

What can you do to help the project out? Be a wiki-fairy, on many levels. There are all kinds of articles that need help. Why, just this morning I removed those ugly wikify and cleanup tags from four articles at random. If you can put [[ ]] around stuff, you can clean up articles. There's a list of articles that need attention at the top of the WP:LGBT talk page. Or you can start with the Lambda Literary Awards, where the goddess of my altar received a pioneering award, and was "reduced to rubble" by Katherine V. Forrest's wonderful speech. The 20th ceremony of the Lambda Literary Awards, which celebrates LGBT literature, took place in West Hollywood on May 29th [1]. The page needs to be updated with the new winners, to be found on the official website [2].

Yeshayahu Leibowitz, Arthur C. Clarke and Bernard Montgomery

Why on earth would someone want to delete material about homosexuality? 'Tis truly a mystery. But these embattled articles have some random evil gnomes removing information that places these folks under our queer umbrella. Help us keep an eye out for the deletions. Take a peek at the articles, familiarize yourselves with the info, and be handy with the undo function in the article history. If tempers flare, take it to the Hall monitors and let them sort it out. Best solution is to make sure your sources are immaculate.

This month's Wiki stars

This is what I get for opening my big fat mouth and suggesting the newsletter should be revived. Here I am writing it. So, to pat self on back (*cough*) Mulholland Dr. became a featured article in May. This is A Good Thing since it is my personal declaration that there is no such thing as lesbian porn. I don't care what Benjiboi says about the video collection at goodvibes. Instead, we have hot women who connect on a deep, personal, soul-touching level, so this film should qualify as some of the skankiest porn available for lesbians. Plus, it's completely confusing and surreal! D'you think Laura Harring would care that the article is featured? I don't think so either... (Call me, Laura!)

Compulsive hoarding of templates

Once I saw a harrowing episode of Animal Planet's Animal Cops where this guy had, like, 250 cats in his house and it freaked me right out. I'm drawing a parallel between 250 cats and, well...three, really, templates in articles involving LGBT issues. Can we stick to one, maybe? In the aforementioned Harvey Milk's article there's a core LGBT template, a link to the LGBT portal, and a sidebar for LGBT rights. Jiminy! You'd think we weren't the folk to set industrial grey carpeting and track lighting in vogue. An LGBT footer was designed to link to articles of interest that aren't the aforementioned core articles. What do you think, can we have either an LGBT template for core articles, a footer for LGBT articles that are high profile but not core, or an LGBT rights template? As ever, anything's up for discussion on the WP:LGBT talk page.

The Violet Quill and magazines

Zigzig20s suggests we create an article on The Violet Quill, as it seems such a milestone in the advancement of gay/queer literature. Members of the Quill all have pages of their own (Edmund White, Christopher Cox, Robert Ferro, Michael Grumley, Andrew Holleran, Felice Picano, and George Whitmore). We need to find more info on the Quill per se to reference the page that we create. Perhaps Google Books - and libraries? - can help.

A number of magazines also need articles, perhaps most notably QW, LGNY, and Lesbian Feminist Liberation.

Mom's nagging for Pride Month

It's June, Pride month. Wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, get a designated driver, then go half-dressed in the streets find a girlfriend or boyfriend, or some homo who's standing there looking lonely and kiss 'em up real good. Remember, it all started 39 years ago when a bunch of drag queens just got fed the f*ck up by the cops raiding the bar and dragging them all out to the pokey again. Rock on, queens! Enjoy your celebrations. My town's is in October, and 200 people attend. I miss Denver.

Question

Isn't it possible usedfan is just trying to bring down another editor with him in pure spite of the user? I'm not convinced they are the same person. Silverorion actually knows how to write in proper English. I'm talking about spelling and punctuation when usedfan is editing the mainspace and trying. Is it possible you could request a checkuser before blocking silverorion to be on the side of caution? However, I'm pretty sure usedfan has many sock puppets. FisherQueen, I agree that its clear that SilverOrion is a USEDfan sockpuppet and should be immediately blocked. The editing pattern and the distinctive language styles are unmistakably similar. Unfortunately, I also have to conclude that his reference to another USEDfan account clearly means your account, and I see no choice but to indef ban you forthwith without any recourse to CheckUser or other checking mechanism. Re: Welcome Back

Thanks for welcoming me back. Not entirely fuzzy warm welcome, but its a welcome. For the nightmare thing on the reference desk. When we have a nightmare it's not generally what we are afraid or what to inspect on our lives. It may be more or less just a dream. People tend to put more thought into dreams. Yes, some dreams refer to something in reality, but not all time. I can't remember exactly where I read this, but it was in a small little article. I believe the magazine was called uh Science News and had little tiny science articles in the style of news. I believe it was a Professor of physcology(spelled extremely wrong but whatever.) and that was what he said he had discovered and studied. The one where I said that those people aren't on televisions. It was just um I was watching a show about Life. All the scientist were saying stuff I disagreed with and they um talked about all the stuff I complained about. Now I'm sure there are some people who say what I say you know that aliens may be a whole different chemical then us. The story one when I insulted the lady. I remember she wrote "I am working on a novel were the climax is when BG cuts the rope or ladder and G cannot get back on the yatch." That has been done before. You read in books all the time. Spy books, normal books without supernatural things, horror. Now they may not necessarily be uh yatchs, but ships yes. I should probably help her, but it's her novel and I don't want to rewrite her "climax". I'll rework the sentences to make it nicer. I'll rework all the sentences.

The way to cite a magazine article is to include a link to the article online, or to include the name and date of the magazine and the name of the article, at least. The way to cite a television program is to include the name of the program and the channel you saw it on. All right then I'll do that. I would like to make a comment before I have had any of my personal problems I think I did pretty well on the ref desk. It seems I'm having a better life once again. So I'm sorry for any problems or anything harsh I have said before. I tend to say stupid and wild things when I am angry. When my fuse is lit I can't control myself. And it wasn't you who got me upset as I said before it was personal problem offline. I would also like to note that my internet is being controlled by my roommate(I have stopped calling him my friend) who hates spam. Instead of trying to control the problem of the spam he got rid of the problem sights .coms and .nets. So my searching on google is a little harder because I have to find the educational sights and the government sights. The sad thing about google is half of the stuff is .coms and .nets. So I tend to find myself a little lazy when it comes to answering questions. Once again I'm sorry. I will now work to the quality I was before all of this. I will start adding sources to the best of my ability with the limit of my internet. Thank you for understanding. I hope you give me a second chance. Re: Deleyaman

Hello, I'm back for some help and advice about the below. I saw that there was a new message about genereal notibility guideline on the Deleyaman page I'd provided. This time, I have no idea whom it is from since there was no message in the talk page nor an indication of a received message. I have a hard time understanding why there may be an objection to this article, since not only the band is notable but the page was expanded with more references and I also noticed that a correction was contributed from another source. The new information that I gathered and found since I started this article only helped reinforce the credibility of this band. There are many articles in several languages and hundreds of reviews (Cultural internet sites, very credible print, Uncut magazine) about the band. The founder of Deleyaman also happens to be noted in the Billboard Encyclopedia of Record Producers as a co-producer on a 1983 record release, with the influential producer Spot from SST Records. Both the latter, producer and record label, are on the Wikipedia pages. Is this message a usual automated warning when a new article is proposed or is someone behind it and if so, what shall I do more to avoid removal of the article ? thank you for your advice.(Araeolsaju (talk) 08:56, 19 June 2008 (UTC)).
