Help with location map template

[edit]

Hi Dr. Blofeld, hope all is well with you. I tried to make Template:Location map United States Chicago Exelon Pavilions for use in the Exelon Pavilions article, based on your Template:Location map United States Chicago Downtown. I made File:Chicago Millenium Park Exelon Pavilions.png by adding dots for three of the pavilions to your map File:Chicago Millenium Park area.png. The fourth dot would be the one generated by the infobox, and I was going to tweak its coordinates and the size of the other dots as needed. Only problem is that (although I copy and pasted your template) mine does not work. Anything you could do to fix it would be most appreciated. Thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:13, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks - I have made exactly one edit to the template (copying yours and swapping the name of the base map). When I wrote you above it was not working, now it is. Tony already got Exelon Pavilions to GA, now we are about to take the article to FAC. The new template is in the box - a bit of a kludge, but it shows four dots for four pavilions. Thanks again, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:29, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Vietnam articles

[edit]

Yes, it was a huge taxing task, which I would not rather repeat again where translation from other languages is involved. I have added extensively on Lao Cai today and left a message on Yellow Monkey's talk page also requesting him to suggest a link with the provinces and the Don Bock region. I made a thorough search but could not find any reference. I will try to locate some other hook where all provinces are mentioned in one reference.

The simplest text to be inserted in all articles, with change of the first name to match with the article cited, could be the following. Bắc Giang, Bắc Kạn, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Yen Bai are part of the 59 administrative provinces and 5 municipaltites in Vietnam.[1]
Done. Hook modified. I hope it is OK. You may like to give a fresh copy edit to all 11 articles with some more text to the lead with your gifted skills in editing.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 13:02, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
The hook has been removed from the DYK page by User:Itzjustdrama. I don't know why? You may like to check.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 21:21, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
I have checked. It is not in the preperation either. It needs to be restored. I have seen an entry by User:Itzjustdrama in yesterday's date history of DYK nomination page stating that it is not required on the web page history. Material Scientist has written on his talk page that it is in the prepration area but it is surely not there. If it is purposely deleted then it is a waste of our huge efforts. Only you can get it rectified-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 14:57, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Millennium Park FT

[edit]

See WP:CHIFTD for the latest. September 1st arrived with us one article short of the 50% needed to retain FT status. Millennium Park just passed on August 31. Exelon Pavilions is currently at Wikipedia:Peer review/Exelon Pavilions/archive1‎, but may be ready for WP:FAC by the weekend. Feel free to drop some comments at the PR to help us improve the article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 15:55, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your help with the monastery. I did a triple co-nom with the creator, Your Uber Monkey, you and self. Can you find a pic for it? --Sulmues (talk) 18:28, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

This is the monastery. --Sulmues (talk) 18:32, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Dhuvjan is different from Dhrovjan yes, I messed up. And Saint Eleftherios is nothing but Eleutherius and Antia, Antia being Eleutherius' mother I'm afraid. The Greek spelling is Eleftherios and the Albanian one is Lefter. Alexikoua might confirm the Greek spelling: I'll give him a buzz. --Sulmues (talk) 19:42, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Fellow seems to keep a low profile, so a decent bio on his BLP will be difficult. However, as enough of the works he's produced have received enough coverage themselves so as to themselves be considered notable, there could be a reasonable argument made toward his meeting WP:CREATIVE, even if the article remains a stub. Hey Dr.B! Things are good... busy with work and trying to enjoy the last of summer with fam and friends. What's going on in your part of the world? Yes, we do share similar interests in a number of areas. Let me know if you want to do some collaboration, maybe focusing on creating or expanding articles that can get at least to Start class. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:45, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Let me look at Arctic Hotel and see what I can find. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:52, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Lucky sister; probably has some great stories and photos. I have the same fascination with places northern. Starting studying them in college days. In Alaska, I've gone made 100 mi north of Fairbanks. In Europe, my furthest north = Oslo and Uppsala. Been through much of Canada, but haven't made it yet to the territories. British listed buildings, fab idea! I think there's a lot of info out there on them and would be easy to give them a go. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:02, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Went kayaking in Milford Sound a few years back; was my furthest south. Northeastern coast of NZ's South Island comes closest on the planet to capturing my heart. Places like Maesmawr Hall -- I like it. I'll do some looking around. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:32, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Slovenia

[edit]

OK all are done except a few hundred which are mainly municipalities - these should not go inside their own cat unless they are both a municipality and a place within the municipality - even then there should ideally be a redirects with possibilities from, say

to Bloke, Slovenia. (Of course I chose a bad example.)

And these redirects can contain the category information specific to town and municipality.

I have added a "main" to each of the municipality categories, some need disambiguating.

There are a few duplicate cats still to be deleted. After that I noticed one or two are empty, as none of their places have been added.

Rich Farmbrough, 18:05, 4 September 2010 (UTC).

As I say, each cat has a "{{Main}} referring to the municipality article, so it's really a manual job of moving only those that are a municipality and something else. The rest should be in the Slovenian municipalities category anyway. Also I juts picked up Pece which is a Croatian village, linked to when a Slovenian place of the same name was meant. IS there any QA on this? Rich Farmbrough, 18:20, 4 September 2010 (UTC).

I just started this, having done the research last night. There's enough material to get it to Start. Delightful article in the it-wiki I haven't found the hook yet though I'm betting there is one. Me, too! Do you think there is enough material on Amankila to bring it to Start class, with a hook? --Rosiestep (talk) 15:52, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Fantastic photos. That's where I want to go! BTW, I've started working on Amankila. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:07, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

I worked up Amankila and co'nom-ed it at dyk. This working together really does work. Especially if we do it like this where each of us starts an article, and then we switch midstream so there's no edit warring. I'm not used to working on hotels and had to deal with some re-wording after I noticed it was starting to sound like an advrt vs. honing in on the architecture and building materials. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:48, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Right, and history/architecture is really the part that I enjoy. You did a great job on the constable, and yesterday's too, and if I forgot to mention it, the caerhys castle photos really make the article pop. I'll come up with something new for tomorrow, too. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:09, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Sure, why not. Note, at least initially, I'm having trouble finding quantities of info on Dunyvaig Castle, but I suspect you might have some leads. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:30, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

And another, Mitford Castle, as I found at least 6 good references that aren't mentioned in the article, and I think the references in the article can be mined for additional info. --Rosiestep (talk) 06:07, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for adding those photos to Aboyne Castle. "A picture is worth a thousand words", right? I'll get a jump start on Mitford Castle. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:51, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Expanded and nom'd Mitford Castle. Maybe Church of Saint Andrew, High Ham next? Now must skidaddle. --Rosiestep (talk) 20:10, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Enslaving students :)

[edit]

A couple of years ago, I had two classes of advanced English students in Toluca, Mexico write articles for WP. Im going to do this again, this time with my Business English class, with an eye on having them write a B class (minimum) article as their final project. The last time I did this, I was a relative newbie on WP, and I went around willy nilly looking for folks to help out the class as mentors, especially in wiki-tasks like wikifying, categorizing, etc. as I have limited time to teach wiki skills. I would, of course, teach the academic English skills and citation. Might you be interested in helping out and/or spreading the word that I need mentors for my students? I'll have them look for mentors themselves (gotta remember to find the newbie pages), but any head start would be great due to the semester calendar.Thelmadatter (talk) 20:56, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Oaxaca

[edit]

Thanks for your kind words about the Oaxaca article. I went through the GA process once with Mexico City Cathedral and to be honest, it really turned me off of the whole thing. I spent a lot of time wrassling with nitpicking over weeks, which, frankly, I didnt enjoy. I prefer to focus on adding content, creating decent articles or making poor articles into decent articles. Since I can read Spanish and write in English, it is the most useful thing I can do, as much of the needed info is most often only available in Spanish. I put into that article everything I could find but if you have specific suggestions of info to add, Ill see what I can do. Im working on expanding Morelos now.Thelmadatter (talk) 23:04, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. The important thing is to improve the articles, especially the state.... GA status is icing on the cake. If you want to go for GA status, Ill back you, especially in looking for missing info. Oaxaca is a good candidate, as is Veracruz as they receive about 1,000 hits each one per day.Thelmadatter (talk) 13:08, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

OK, Ill translate the rest of it and work with the sources Ive found on health.Thelmadatter (talk) 17:59, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
I'll hit up the education part. I'm afraid we're going to have to "work backwards" and find sources for the information that already exists. One of the many things that frustrates me about Spanish Wiki is the hap-hazard way that citations are handled...and the fact that "IDONTLIKEIT" is, in practice, an acceptable reason to slant/delete an article. Sometimes I think that the PRI must be in control of the admins there....but I'll digress :-) --nsaum75¡שיחת! 18:29, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I just saw the listing. The only church maybe that should be discussed is the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, Oaxaca. There are a few other interesting colonial era churches and (former) monasteries, such as that in Tlacolula de Matamoros and Ocotlán de Morelos. However, I think the religion section is pretty long as it is. Why do you think the demographics needs to be cut down? Its one of the, if not the, most important aspects about the state.Thelmadatter (talk) 14:55, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
I looked at the Byzantine navy article and its a completely different citation method. The last time I worked on a good article nom, I was told you cannot mix citation styles. Honestly, Im not willing to redo all the citations. BTW, Im going to ask students to take a look at the history section of the article tomorrow for suggestions as to what to cut. Saw that you finished it off and got it nom'ed. Thanks; I was tired. As for Sisimiut Museum, I wasn't able to add much other than its Greenlandic name and some info on the curator who found an archaeological site at Nipisat, so I worked up that article. No, I didn't know (or didn't remember) that you were Welsh, though I think now that you mentioned having a Welsh poet relative, perhaps an aunt. I went through Wales in the mid 1990s in pouring rain. You may be (partly) right about the French stations, I have just continued what was already there. I think for the main stations in Paris "Gare du Nord", "Gare de Lyon" etc. are also used in English. If you prefer English translations, maybe you should start a discussion at some wikiproject (I guess WP France, WP Stations, WP Trains). Markussep Talk 16:03, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Sí, sí hablo espanol como una segunda idioma...pero mi ingles es mucho mejor :-) The education section should be easy for me to expand...plus I'll see if there is any WP:RS I can harvest from the es.wiki Oaxaca article. --nsaum75¡שיחת! 16:39, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I'll work on it when I get home from work this evening. --nsaum75¡שיחת! 18:23, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Si si si.. Futbol!!! Actually the Guerreros de Oaxaca, a Mexican-league baseball team, is pretty popular state-wide. --nsaum75¡שיחת! 18:43, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
I added a little on sport, but that's not my favorite subject.Thelmadatter (talk) 15:02, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Mine neither...speaking of sports...the last game I went to, one of street vendors was cooking red, white and green salchichas on some sort of cook top he'd rigged up to the exhaust system on his car... I'm not sure what put me off more, my curiosity of what exactly they dyed the hotdogs with, or if you could some sort of poisoning from cooking with automobile exhaust. --nsaum75¡שיחת! 01:55, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Education

[edit]

I tried to expand the Education section using what sourced information I could find from Es.Wiki article as well as some stuff I found on my own. I also added primary and higher education sections, but need to find more reliably sourced info to include. Primary education here in Oaxaca is so fractured (and outside of Oaxaca de Juarez, the title of "Elementary School Teacher" often falls to a 13 year old "graduate" of the same elementary). Anyhow, I'll work on it more later. I'll also snap some pics for the recently-expanded healthcare section too. --nsaum75¡שיחת! 01:55, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Chocolate

[edit]

FYI - I removed the chocolate photo and added a short video I took of chocolate being made in a Mayordomo store. I was concerned that since a branded logo was somewhat prominent in the chocolate photo, it might pose a problem during the GA review process. That said...I'm not really sure if a video belongs in the article. Alternatively, I do have other photos of chocolate being made, I just thought a video might be more informative. --nsaum75¡שיחת! 07:09, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Idea for getting development of articles

[edit]

There are to my eyes two basic impediments to some people developing articles about what might be called "less significant" people, places and the like. One of these is the question of notability. The other is finding sources. Particularly for some areas where English is not a broadly used language, the latter might be a bigger problem than the former. That is one reason why I am slowly trying to go about making lists of relevant periodicals and books for various areas.

There is also another problem, unfortunately. That can often be finding people who are even sufficiently interested to make the effort of creating articles. This may well be the biggest problem in many of these cases, particularly for smaller non-English countries.

There might be a bit of a way going about maybe generating interest for at least some of those articles. I know you are aware of the WP:1.0 group who tries to determine which of our material is most important and find ways to improve it. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, they have only selected a comparatively small number of articles yet, so people whose particular interest is, for instance, skiing, won't have that many 1.0 articles to deal with, and thus may not involve themselves.

We have a rather large category, Category:Halls of fame, which specifically deal with groups who have selected the most notable people and works of a particular field. There are some other similar "awards," like Westminster Abbey Burials and Memorials, which are somewhat more arbitrarily limited (maybe someone prefers being buried elsewhere), but things like that might serve as a rough basis for a "British Hall of Fame". And there are some sources, like Timetables of History, which could, possibly, be used as a source for some of the matters which might be important but not relevant to any of the "award" groups mentioned.

If (and that is an if) we could get interest from the 1.0 people and the various other relevant projects and groups out there to maybe create a WikiProject to deal with the articles relevant to hall of fame inductees, significant historical developments included in Timetables of History and other similar sources, and other important matters for areas which aren't discussed by either, would you have any interest in being involved in it? The group could apply a rough general importance rating to each individual "award", and apply the highest relevant importance rating to each article. Being listed in Timetables of History or similar sources might be a generic "Mid" importance rating, for example. Such a group might also be better able to draw attention to less frequently discussed areas, like Oceania and the Baltics. Granted, those areas may not have comparatively many articles or inductees, but it might help bring more attention to them. God knows how low the importance rating given to an inductee into the Purina Animals Hall of Fame as per here, but they could be eligible, as well as stories in the Science Fiction Hall of Fame collections and other such literary awards.

Any interest? John Carter (talk) 17:07, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

For the most part, I agree that most wikiprojects are a waste of time, and this is the guy who started many. Like I said, I myself have found sourcing to be a problem in lots of cases. However, WP:1.0 is kind of static right now, given the comparatively few articles it deals with. Some sort of expansion beyond the articles currently selected might generate more interest, and maybe more cooperation on those comparatively important articles. And hall of fame inductees are pretty much granted importance of some kind, particularly in national halls and the like. Basically, I noticed your comment about autogenerating the remaining DNB articles, and thought that something like this, which in lots of ways might include individuals in an unofficial "World DNB" might be similar. The one thing it would need is lists of individuals inducted into these halls, and I don't think I myself here in the US can necessarily gain access to all those lists. But you, as a Brit, might have access to similar recognitions there and maybe elsewhere. John Carter (talk) 17:25, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
I myself have never assumed that my doing a good article would get others to follow suit. If anything, people are more likely to leave the work to the person who did the first article, and go on to other things. But if we could create the lists of sources, which I am slowly working on, and maybe establish notability by listing them as inductees at a notable hall, that would get us closer. But, yeah, right now there are about 2004 projects listed in the directory, of which at least 900 are sub-topical (subnational entities, fictional series, etc.) and about 200 others are music and/or sports related. And, just to clarify, although there are several DNBs out there, they tend to list a lot of people, including several of comparatively little importance even in their own country. This would allow a bit of focus on those who are judged to be of the greatest important people and things from a particular country. Anyway, just an idea. John Carter (talk) 17:45, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

DNB

[edit]

My posting to Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)#Dictionary of National Biography auto-generated content:

I am against bot generated content. Over the last year I have created a lot of DNB based content here (eg see here), but this is not a simple process. The first point is that most of the DNB pages on Wikisoure have yet to be proof read eg see volume 33 (Here is one I created earlier would someone like to finish off as the two Liblurne brothers are as about 4% of that volume?). The second is that before the text is put into WP it needs massaging. For example, the opinions expressed by the editors of the DNB need to be altered to be WP:ASF compliant as do the in-line citations (citing the DNB for the secondary citations) The old WP:CITE "say where you got it". I think it is far better that the articles are created as stubs the list Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/DNB Epitome using {{DNBIE}}. It does not take days to transfer a page as a cut and past (which is what the Bot would do) it takes minutes. What takes the time is cleaning it and bringing it up to standard, and the bot does not save any time in doing that.
So what I would suggest is
  • That a new parameter is added to {{DNBIE}} "wstitle=" for a link to article on Wikisorce and that it flags a hidden category stating that an article exists on Wikisource (similar to what is done for {{1911}} and {{catholic}}). -- I have just finished editing the last two and intend to do {{DNBIE}} and {{DNB}} next.
  • That a bot is run creating a stub articles, for any DNB articles that exist on Wikisource, based on the topic entry in Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/DNB Epitome list.
  • Editors can go through the entries in the category stating that an article exists on Wikisource (created by the {{DNBIE}} stub entry) cut and past them across (easy to do with the link provided by the bot in the template) and modify them by hand.
Of course "first catch youe hare" the entries in Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/DNB Epitome need to be cleaned (sigh)! -- PBS (talk) 01:01, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

My proposal is a sort of halfway house. But I suggest that you notify User talk:Charles Matthews of your posting to village pump as he is heavily involved in the Wikisource DNB project, and I value his opinions on this. -- PBS (talk)

I have been looking at this in the background, since discussing briefly with Charles. Keep me in the loop on this. Rich Farmbrough, 14:09, 14 September 2010 (UTC).
I noticed that you created a new article Richard Arnald. Although it is not yet documented the {{DNB}} template now takes all the arguments that the {{DNB Cite}} template takes. What is already working and documented is that "{{DNB|wstitle=name}}" has replaced "{{DNB|name}}". This change will allow us to catch errors when a person accidental makes a mistake with a parameter eg "p. 101" instead of "pages=101" and it will allow the passing of "title=" and "url=" for pages from the DNB that have yet to be ported to Wikisource. This will be implemented as soon as I have worked thorough the last 300 pages of {{DNB}}that currently do not use a named parameter.
BTW You will find a complete list of volumes linked to the Internet Archive at the wikipedia article Dictionary of National Biography if you can not find a ported article in Wikisource. -- PBS (talk) 00:50, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Lithium in Tibet

[edit]

See this here User:Nvvchar/sandbox/Saptha Badri. You may be able to find imgs of the lake and also more text to add. You may like to invite User:Materialscientist to pitch in with his expertise. Shannan Prefecture artciles will take some more time. It will be a 6 articles hook.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 10:14, 10 September 2010 (UTC) Handsome, Yes. I notice a very nice new picture of yours on this page in a very pensive mood.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 04:26, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. I am hesitant to intrude in to other Users articles posted for GA and invite snide remarks or deletion of any texts added. I have read the discussions on the talk page of the article Sisimiut. That is why I did not work on the Mexican article. But you have already moved the text on Transportation and Education after parphrasing the traslated text to the main space. Where are the references for the parks for me to work on? -- N.V.V. Char Talk . 09:51, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
I have added text of three pars to Oaxcaca article. I hope they are adequate on the parks aspects. On the Lithium issues, User: Materialscientist has rightly chanaged the title to Lake Zabuye and improved the article substantially, since many of the references were found to be unreliable. However, he needs the exact meaning of the word 'Zabuye' either in Tibetan or Chinese language. I tried but the reference I have given him may not be fully satisfactory. Can you find the meaning of this word from your source books and confirm to Materialscientist? Thanks.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 14:36, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
If you feel that they will go through the GA process, please suggest which of the six articles Glacier Bay, Margerie Glacier, Deer Rock, Chilkoot Lake, Chilkoot River and Salmon Creek Dam should I nominate. Of course all are well referenced. You would have to help me in case of too many snide remarks, and I am very pessimistic about GAs, as the last one on Ashokan Edicts in Delhi was a disaster.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 14:49, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the comforting words. I will nominate Glacier Bay, after I complete the six articles hook on Shannan Province. I should be able to post the first few by tomarrow evening. You would need to add lots of pictures and also add from your book sources on Tibet. I am very tired today working since morning. I will call it a day, but a good day overall. Thanks.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 15:09, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
  • I have added a Section on Religion and also on Yagul Monument. Yes, your proposal for the main page is fine. Give me the tutorial to d fix it on my page. Thanks.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 06:19, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
The skin is Monobook. I have not fitted the modified main page that you have designed on my user talk page yet to check the space available. Please see User:Nvvchar/Sandbox 4 for Shannan Prefecture to fit the infobox and for addtional text and imgs.
I have both. I will be adding more on Shannan and also posting other five articles in the my user pages in the next day or two.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 10:23, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
I tried the main page insertion as suggested by you but there was a warning that I should consult at Village Pump before proceeding further. Hence, I did not continue. Tibet lakes will take some time as at present I have very heavy office work related to my consultancy firm. I have not been able to complete the Shannan articles also. Bear with me, pl.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 09:57, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
I tried and I got this message. "Code that you insert on this page could contain malicious content capable of compromising your account. If you are unsure whether code you are adding to this page is safe, you can ask at the appropriate village pump. The code will be executed when previewing this page under some skins, including Monobook".-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 10:13, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Burma towns and townships

[edit]

Yes, cleaning these up has been on my list for awhile. I have finally gotten a hold of the three volume Myanmar Historical Commission Fiftieth Anniversary Conference Proceedings (2005) which, in addition to history and theory, contains some interesting geographic data. I have just barely begun to explore it. When I am trying to reconstruct where certain edits in articles come from, I find the edit summaries in the View History very useful. One thing that would help, is if you could indicate in your edit summaries what you've dealt with. --Bejnar (talk) 22:07, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

The article Asaf Ataseven has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lots of people are Physicians, but is there anything that makes this gentleman a notable Physician?

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ϢereSpielChequers 12:15, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

The Writer's Barnstar
Probably you've gotten many of these, and more will follow, but I wanted to express my personal appreciation and gratitude for the hundreds of Balkans articles written, without mentioning the 60K+ articles in Wikipedia you've written overall. You are an example to follow. The knowledge, the enthusiasm, the great attitude, and the love of sharing knowledge and put it in wikipedia so that all can access it easily, make you one of the best wikipedians of all time. Oaxaca Regions Districts

[edit]

I can do that. Aymatth2 (talk) 18:25, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

See User:Aymatth2/Sandbox. Municipality names don't work - too long and too many of them. Now I have to find the data... Aymatth2 (talk) 19:49, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
You mean I can't just make up the numbers? Is this some sort of new policy? Time for a beer. Aymatth2 (talk) 20:51, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

There is a discrepancy. The lead says total area is 95,364 km², citing Mexconnect. The table of regions and districts gives a total of 93,967 km², citing Oeidrus, which should be definitive. I believe there has been some dispute over the boundary with Chiapas in the Selva Zoque area, which may account for the difference. Aymatth2 (talk) 02:40, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

The areas in the table add up to the total at the foot of the table. The individual areas and the total both come from Oeidrus, which is consistent as one would expect. I assume the Mexconnect number is incorrect. Aymatth2 (talk) 12:05, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Got it! You were looking at the infobox number: 93,952 km², which is 15 km² less than the Oeidrus number. That is exactly what would be expected if you rounded down the area of each of the 30 districts and then added them up. The table rounds the district areas up or down to the nearest km², adding up to the right total. But the 95,364 km² number, quoted in two places and sourced from Mexconnect, is out by 1,397 km². I will fix and source. Picky stuff. Aymatth2 (talk) 12:39, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Generally, yes - I like the colors and the layout. Mining Encyclopedia, nice one:) Good job! Shouldn't be, possibly, Mining Encyclopedia (Ukraine)? What if there are similar ones in English-speaking countries. Than it would look awkward, I think. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 21:54, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

I do not see it, though, while googling. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 21:57, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Wow! It will be tough to transwikify the whole Ukrainian wikipedia. It is one of the biggest communities out there. Myself, I also sometimes drawing some infos when composing or editing articles. Sometimes also look into Russian, Polish, and German analogues as well to confirm any bias info. Feel free to throw me something to lend a helping hand. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 22:30, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Just as FYI I used the official transliteration, however, there are some variations such as Latynka, for example that mostly is based on a German-like version and somewhat similar to the Slovakian alphabet. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 22:33, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Med map template

[edit]

See, you were absolutely right ;) Seriously, it slipped my mind, as so far I haven't had an opportunity to use it. Which reminds me, I meant to ask you: if a location is known with some precision, say, off the coast of a specific island, why should we not prefer to use a more close-up map, rather than the Med as a whole? 'Cause there's a couple of articles in my mind, on battles which took place in the Aegean, and on your map, it would be pretty hard to distinguish where exactly they were. Constantine 21:26, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, given that galley warfare was essentially coastal, it'd be problematic for anything prior to the Age of Sail. It would certainly be great say for WW2 articles, or for showing multiple engagements within a single campaign or expedition... Constantine 21:35, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Communication

[edit]

You're right, unfortunately. Changed hours at work, combined with the inability to access the net from work (both building structure and policy are involved), slower connections at home, and other things have combined to give me, unfortunately, a lot of time to develop ideas, but significantly less time to actually do anything to implement them. The sources I'm trying to use for publications are all also, unfortunately, reference at libraries, which means they can't be checked out, and I am not going to pay for copies of about 2,000 pages of basic data, which is the approximate length of the main work I'm using for the names and subjects of the various newspapers, journals, and the like. Particularly when a lot of it is nothing more than a statement that a given radio station plays country music, christian music, or whatever, which is basically useless to us anyway. So, yeah, lately, I've been trying to maximize the use of time on the net to try to accomplish the various purposes before me.

Right now, the bibliographies and lists of publications for the various topical and geographical projects seems to me to be the most important thing to do. If and when I get done with the list of magazines, etc., the bibliography articles for most subjects should be comparatively easy and quick to make out. Also, it should make it a bit easier for those who want to develop that content to find information to do so. But, given the sheer numbers of serials out there, I have been more gruff than I like in general, trying to get the bloody thing done. Unfortunately. John Carter (talk) 21:21, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I have been told by some others recently that some of the projects might not want these lists, particularly not if they are incomplete. I have sent some early words to some of the Africa projects and like, and if they don't get any responses I'll just add them anyway. But, yeah, until they're a lot closer to being done than they are now, it probably makes sense to assemble them elsewhere until they're finished. And that site is useful. I've also checked at the local library, and have started to gather together some of the publications that are used on the Gale and Infotrac databases as well. The downside with working on articles myself is, in some cases, the really over the top hysterics some editors show when any changes to their content are proposed or made.
When this gets done, then there should be any easier time getting at least a few editors to be willing to collaborate on developing a broad range of articles, given that they will all have some sort of sources available to them. I actually intend to try to work personally on developing the articles on a lot of the standard books on given subjects. Particularly in the religion fields, there are a lot of trashy books out there, even, to my surprise, in seminary libraries. I think getting together the information on where a given book is considered good and where it isn't might make it a lot easier to develop some articles. Right now, I've got multiple reviews of around 40 books on the Jehovah's Witnesses which I hope to soon transfer into articles, probably in offwiki time. Some of those suckers are in the range of 30 to 40 pages long; I'm not sure if they're actually reviews or separate works entirely. But, with the comparatively few "bibliography" articles I've already started, and with the lists for the projects, I think we should be able to make it easier for more editors to spend more time on the articles than just I alone could do. In respect of the new article suggested by you count me in.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 10:09, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
I have also added more text to the airport and its almost 5x now (1406 vs 7030 pose expansion). Please verify.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 13:52, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
Baci is done. You may like to post it on DYK. Can you check from your records if there is a village named Gonggar in Gonggar County, since I am not able to find much information about it? What is the status of Oaxcaca Are you posting it for GA?-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 07:41, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
Please see here User:Nvvchar/sandbox/forts. I could not find more text and pictures. May be you have some to supplement. The Gonggar Chode Monastery is also without any photos in flickr. Can you locate it from any other source? I will post the artcile soon but wihtout any photo it will look bland. Since I could not find any useful text on Gonggar Town we have to limite the artciles to five only for the hook. Smoking in Indonesi got good viewer response- 5100.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 09:41, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
  • I have added more text to Shannan and Gonggar County. I have linked the table also made some accetable (to me) changes on the disputed area. I am amazed by the blatant progoganda stuff doled out by official sources. I again tried to get some imgs of the monastery but failed. Another two days, the articles should be ready. -- N.V.V. Char Talk . 11:01, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
I am not keeping well. right now. I am soemhow managing to sit and type this. Iy Africa artciles can wait a for a few days then I will be ineterested. Shannan still needs minor editing and convesrions. -- N.V.V. Char Talk . 23:26, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

At the DYK suggestion page I came across the article you created Amantaka. While reviewing it I was drawn to the part about Sienna Miller and Jude Law staying there. I sort of rewrote that section with what I found to be more notable content. I am running that past you in case you had issues with that. I am also notifying you of the stub I started, Baci, which was inspired by what I found at the article. The subject matter is wholly foreign to me so it won't be that easy. If you don't mind, please keep an eye on is to correct any mistakes I may make, and of course add to the article as you please. Sincerely, --PinkBull 01:47, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

German maps

[edit]

Are these on "commons" ?

There are 6 bn people, therefore 1 million entities of size 6,000, Qagang has 5115 pop. If there was no "great firewall of China" we might have the articles nonetheless. Maps will, I think, have to wait. Rich Farmbrough, 13:45, 14 September 2010 (UTC).

Kafka has nothing on this:

Distributed to 49 social security subsidies, total amount of 51,744 yuan; processing card 19 re-employment benefits; handle employment services card 120; to apply for small loans unemployed 4, handle 2 million in loans per household, total handle 8 million in loans; free employment agency 36; training 1,450 landless peasants; labor export 1,700, 650 administrative jobs.

that's a lot of administrative jobs! Rich Farmbrough, 15:08, 14 September 2010 (UTC).

I simply removed all the undefined fields. When we get the population figures or maps we can add back skyline image if we wish. I corrected the problem with the infobox template that was causing the odd display. Rich Farmbrough, 19:50, 14 September 2010 (UTC).
Are those the all the ones that are wanted? It's no problem to add back the info fields 1 and 2, based on the presence of the type fields 1 and 2. Rich Farmbrough, 20:16, 14 September 2010 (UTC).
Like this? Rich Farmbrough, 21:05, 14 September 2010 (UTC).
OK, the ordering and the default parameters are done (including the changes to Quijang after your note), there's some white-space differences, everything else I'm happy with. Example. Rich Farmbrough, 21:51, 14 September 2010 (UTC).

Fair use rationale for File:DarGhorbat .jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:DarGhorbat .jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Nomination of Lake Lobake National Park for deletion

[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article Lake Lobake National Park, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lake Lobake National Park until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 21:42, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

I've given Lobéké a go but it could use some expansion within headers before nom. I also did some research on Dzanga Sangha Special Reserve, currently a one sentence stub, and I think there's enough material for content expansion >5x so it could be a double nom. Mañana. --Rosiestep (talk) 04:58, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Good job! I've just touched up Lobéké, and I'm doing a bit on Dzanga Sangha Special Reserve now. What do you think about moving it to Dzanga Sangha Forest Special Reserve? Yes, let's look at making it a 3 way and I'd love to work with Nvvchar, something I haven't done before. I need more coffee. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:37, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

I put them in quotes and checked the ghits. I put the ghit info on the talk page as I see there's already been a redirect or move. This will give others a chance to weigh in. I'll add redirects for the other name variations later. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:06, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Created and working on Dzanga-Sangha Complex of Protected Areas which ties some things together. Don't know yet if it'll qualify. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:37, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Is there a map already available, or can you create something like Figure 1 of this for Dzanga-Sangha Complex of Protected Areas? --Rosiestep (talk) 17:55, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

It's a start and better than not having one. Yeah, we (errr people like you as I'm no map techie) need better mapping tools so keep your money in technology. Can you insert it into the article, or I will later on? I have to run out for a bit. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:25, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Can you polish off Dzanga-Ndoki National Park, then nom it as a three-way with Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve and Dzanga-Sangha Complex of Protected Areas? And flesh out Bénoué National Park (see de-wiki article, etc.) so it can be nom'd with Lobéké National Park? Or a 5 way nom if you can come up with something. Right now I'm at a loss for a great hook, except for kleptoparasitism at Bénoué. Thanks. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:42, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Yeah I can only think of a nom for the tri parks. i guess the extras will have to be seperate hooks. I'll try to expand this evening its a Sunday morning here and I'm feeling unusually lazy! Thanks for your edits. I remembered a map I uploaded for my Gabon national park articles ages ago and managed to find one on the CARPE USAID website. Stroke of luck. Dr. Blofeld 09:27, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Completely understand that. Doing family stuff today so I won't be on wiki again until maybe tonight. The only editing I was able to do was added an important bird in the Lobéké article and then nom'ed it. The map looks great! --Rosiestep (talk) 21:14, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

I got started on Sirmilik National Park as Nunavut is a passion of mine. Date of establishment is 1999 in some articles and 2001 in others; that needs to be locked down better; I'll drop a line with CambridgeBayWeather. I expanded and nom'ed Batoufam. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:15, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Hope you're feeling better. Saw that Bénoué National Park was done so I nom'ed it. I think that leaves Dzanga-Ndoki National Park, Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve and Dzanga-Sangha Complex of Protected Areas needing nom'ing? --Rosiestep (talk) 03:32, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

The 4-way natl parks nom was a good thing. I expanded Padilla Bol and added a photo. I put all of the images on the right just to keep them out of my way when adding content but can you check that out and move them around for best viewing? I'll try and get to the town's namesake, M.A. Padilla, tomorrow. --Rosiestep (talk) 05:55, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Manuel Ascencio Padilla could use some attention if it interests you. --Rosiestep (talk) 07:37, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

I think M.A.Padilla is almost done but I'll give it a proof read tomorrow; sometimes you can only do so much with an article. I didn't notice all the work you had done on Sirmilik National Park. It looks fabulous! I'll re-read it and then it's bedtime. --Rosiestep (talk) 09:30, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

The article Södertuna Castle has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I do not believe that the subject of this article is notable. It has been tagged with a notability template since July 2009. Since then, in my opinion, nothing has been done to establish that the subject is notable. I did check Google scholar, and only three hits showed up. Nothing showed up in Google News, and the plain Google hits did not seem promising.

Rockfang (talk) 20:19, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Being compared to User:PericlesofAthens is very flattering, although undeserved. Thanks for the ego-boost :P Constantine 15:19, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

I agree wholeheartedly with your comments on WP content and sourcing. While I have no problem with the flood of popular culture articles (since I read quite a few of them to be informed on movies, books, music etc), serious content (and even more, seriously researched content) is sadly lacking, especially on topics from outside the Anglosphere. The gross inaccuracies that I found in Byzantine-related articles were what actually got me writing regularly here. Constantine 15:33, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Well, the problem with the core articles is that they are huge. How do you go about bringing the Loire, or topics like literature for that matter, to FA? The amount of work involved is too much for any one editor, and cooperation between multiple editors (more than two or three) has a tendency of getting nowhere. I was lucky in the Byzantine navy because I had the article essentially to myself, because bibliography was limited, meaning I did not have to go through 30 books to write it, and because I got some great input and supplementary sources from User:Gun Powder Ma, which helped in going the extra bit from good to great. An exceptional set of circumstances, unfortunately. Constantine 15:54, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Question

[edit]

Does Bhutan have image copyright laws there? Theres alot of images we could use that are good but i dont know if there on public domain. I thought they might not have any beacuse they just started being mordern. Also i uploaded a better image of Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, File:Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.jpg. Im hoping to add more photos for the other kings. Spongie555 (talk) 04:41, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Burma

[edit]
State/division - just pick that form the article name? Rich Farmbrough, 21:58, 25 September 2010 (UTC).
Incidentally I sorted the categories out, thy were a bit of a mess, sub-catting various "people in foo" cats, etc. ~~

Yangong has

- Total 4,348,000
- Ethnicities Bamar, Rakhine, Mon, Kayin, Burmese Chinese, Burmese Indians, Anglo-Burmese
- Religions Buddhism, Christianity, Islam

I'm reluctant to mess with these without confirmation that I can simply suppress the fields. Rich Farmbrough, 07:45, 26 September 2010 (UTC).

Otherwise we are looking at this sort of change. Rich Farmbrough, 07:49, 26 September 2010 (UTC).

Alba Cathedral

[edit]

I expanded this one, but can you proof it and doublecheck my translation? Will start on Amalfi Cathedral next as I found plenty on it. --Rosiestep (talk) 05:03, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Burma: really important project and I'm glad someone will methodically work it; I'll peak in that direction from time to time. You've noticed I'm trying to do something similar with Nunavut landforms; much more left to do. I've spent some time in Italy, 3 visits in the 1990s, in various places but have never been to the Amalfi coast! Still on my list of places to go. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:47, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Definitely the photos would help... "a picture is worth a thousand words", eh? I'd like to see Nunavut schools get involved; it would be a humungous project for them. 38,000 villages?! I assume you have data to initially stub them. I have been wanting to do the same for Guatemala since July 2009 but have not started yet. So many villages have been wiped out and they deserve a voice. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:13, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

The Amalfi Cathedral has a good start but needs a bit more content if you have the time. There is much more info on its interior in the comaconf ref. I haven't translated any of the material from the it wiki article. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:12, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

I nom'ed Alba Cathedral; it's fine. Never mind about Amalfi Cathedral; I know you're working on the Burma project. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:45, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Free-tibetlogo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Free-tibetlogo.jpg.

Hi from McLeod Ganj, Dharamshala!

[edit]

Hi! Hope you are well and happy and busily adding to the store of human knowledge as usual.

Well, we have had a fabulous 6 week trip through the Himalayas - very demanding and even dangerous at times but well worth every minute. We actually saw H.H. The Dalai Lama on 6 different occasions near the beginning of our trip - ranging from watching his car pass us churni9ng up the very muddy and slippery Rohtang Pass to receiving a couple of days' teachings in Jispa, a small Lahauli town - so we were most fortunate and felt that our whole journey was blessed.

Sorry I have been out of touch for so long but this is the first place with more than very intermittent email contact - most places we have been have had no internet services and only periodic bursts of electricity - if any. I have only been able to get a couple of messages out to close family and friends to let them know we were still alive. Part of the problem (other than the usual difficulties in remote regions of India) is that they have had the heaviest rains in over 100 years in north India, with lots of landslides, etc. It was terribly sad in Ladakh where several hundred people were killed right around the capital, Leh. We watched people frantically searching for relatives' bodies - it was terrible! Also the main power station and communications centre were completely destroyed. In spite of all this - we had a fabulous time in Ladakh (and all along the way) - everyone was so helpful and friendly and accomadating.

After we finally got out of the mountains (just in time - as the next day all the roads were cut by new landslides and snow) we made it to the town of Mandi where we stayed in luxury at the Palace Hotel for 4-5 days recovering and enjoying great hospitality from the charming 80-year-old Raja who kept us entertained with riddles and banquets. Then we went to Kangra where we explored the ancient fort - reputedly the oldest in India which contains a small Jaina temple with supposedly the oldes known Jaina sculpture said to have been blessed by Mahavira (the founder of Jainism) himself. Then, the day before yesterday we caught a taxi up here (only 28 km from Kangra) and are thrilled to be "home" again.

I have literally thousands of photos which I am now in the process of sorting and editing. It will take me some time to get them uploaded (as I have to access the internet in a cafe) but I do have the photos of the Nyingma Gompa in Ladakh (Thak Thog) that you asked me to get and many others I am sure you will enjoy.

We will be staying here in McLeod Ganj until the 5th November visiting with old friends, reading and just taking it easy. Then we return to Chennai (old Madras) for another 10 days in south India before flying home to Australia on 15th November.

I look forward to hearing from you when you have a chance to write.

All my very best wishes,

Nomination of Hiesville for deletion

[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article Hiesville, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hiesville until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Mr. R00t Talk 01:23, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

The article Noosa Film Festival has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Seems to fail WP:GNG Found only three passing mentions

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Word automation

That's an easy one. Copy the entries starting from "[[ Haka" and ending in "[[Zingalaing" to Word. On the first pass, replace →^p^p← with →^p←. On the second pass, replace →^p← with →]], ^p←, remove the junk from the very end, then copy the results back to where they belong in the template, and you should be all set!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); September 30, 2010; 16:54 (UTC)

Oaxaca

[edit]

are you aware that I have started the GA review of Oaxaca you nominated? It can be found here:[[7]]·Maunus·ƛ· 02:27, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Heh.. I loved the "written by a non-native speaker" comment.Thelmadatter (talk) 15:19, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I do not have easy access to book/academic sources either despite working at a school. Pathetic eh? The important thing is that there is a good article for people to read with lots of information that otherwise might not be available in English. Who thinks anything under GA status is worthless?Thelmadatter (talk) 15:54, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
Gotcha... While there is some point to that... Isnt one of the main reasons that Jimbo started this project was that it took too long to write and painstakingly vet articles in the traditional way? The GA and FA process are essentially the this and most problems with articles are nitpicking, which take a long time to clear. Just because there are only 14,000 "officially sanctioned by the community articles" doesnt mean there are only 14,000 worth a damn. Oh well.... Ill just keep plugging along creating decent new articles and making shi---- er, lousy articles into decent articles. I learn a lot more about Mexico that way. Im currently working on a rewrite of the Puebla article (slow but sure) and plugging through the list of colonias in the borough of Mexico City I live in.Thelmadatter (talk) 16:06, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
I am sorry if you found the review to be too harsh. I apologize for suggesting that parts of the article might have been written by a non-native speaker if that is not the case, but it does have problems with unclear language, strange paragraph buildup and some non-standard sentence constructions in several sections. I also think it is a very decent article and I am glad that there is a place on the internet where readers can find a good collection of informatino about the state of Oaxaca - ity just doesn't fit the criteria in the form it has. I think it is a good idea to check whether the article at least passes the quickfail criteria before nominating - this article could have been quickfailed on the MOS issues alone (list and gallery incorporation and WP:LEAD) making sure that those things are taken care of before nominating saves grief for nominators and reviewers alike. But not being a GA article does NOT mean that the article isn't worth a damn - this article is definitely one of the best sources of information on Oaxaca on the internet.·Maunus·ƛ· 17:19, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
