Philippine Hot 100
[edit]Hi! Can someone edit the article for the PH Hot 100? The chart was revived last week, dated July 6.
https://billboardphilippines.com/chart/ Deibu2007 (talk) 08:33, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Deibu2007: While, in principle, I see no reason why we can't revive the automatic referencing to Philippines Hot 100, I don't see an easy way to make it backwards compatible. The old referencing used an idiosyncratic format where, for example, you would use
|date=november-13
to reference the November 13, 2017 chart, which is archived here. The new referencing method requires|date=07-06-2024
to reference the July 6, 2024 chart. As you can see, it may be difficult to identify which chart to use from the parameter alone. - The best solution is to archive all usage of
Philippines
and then use this code exclusively for the revived chart. This would probably require bot assistance and take some time. A simpler and more immediate solution is to introduce a new code,Philippines2
, for the revived chart. Muhandes (talk) 10:34, 28 July 2024 (UTC)- Thank you for replying! Is there any work that I can do to make the chart work again, since I still don't know how some things work here? Deibu2007 (talk) 18:23, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Deibu2007: I can't think of anything. At this point we wait a few days to see if anyone has anything to add to the discussion. Muhandes (talk) 18:54, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Deibu2007: Per your request I implemented
Philippines2
in the sandbox and you can see the result here. After I implemented it, I did some more testing, and realized the same data can some times be accessed, like all other Billboard charts, through the artist history page, e.g. Sabrina Carpenter or Tommy Richman. I'm not really sure what to do with this information, so let's see if anyone is interested in this at all. --Muhandes (talk) 15:29, 12 August 2024 (UTC)- @Deibu2007: It seems like there is no interest in further investing in this, so I implemented
Philippines2
for the relaunched chart using|date=
. This is now Done. Muhandes (talk) 09:00, 23 September 2024 (UTC)- Thank you so much! Deibu2007 (talk) 01:46, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Muhandes, I think this identifier is in error. I just used it on "Push 2 Start". For the date, I used mf (01-04-2025), but the ref says "
Philippines Hot 100 for week of 1 April 2025
" instead of "… week of 4 January 2025". Oh and I think it should also be in mf everywhere just like on the website. Thoughts? dxneo (talk) 12:22, 4 January 2025 (UTC)- @Dxneo: It's strange that no one noticed this until now—perhaps it wasn’t used very often. It seems the {{date}} template doesn’t accept the MM-DD-YYYY format. I used a workaround to fix it. I hope this template burns in hell. Muhandes (talk) 16:49, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

"Official German Chart": unless this is a proper noun, please change it to "official German chart". HandsomeFella (talk) 17:37, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- Any reason not to use GfK Entertainment charts directly? It seems like that is the official name of the chart. Muhandes (talk) 10:15, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- To match the others, it should probably be Germany (GfK). --Ahecht (TALK

CIS template
[edit]Hi, I'm wondering - if the templates of Russia and Ukraine for TopHit have Airplay in their name, why the same list but from CIS does not have Airplay in it's name? I think it should also have it, since we don't use All Media as general charts from Tophit anyway. Szyign (talk) 12:33, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Szyign: I can't think of a reason not to do it. Done. Muhandes (talk) 21:45, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! Szyign (talk) 22:01, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
US & UK Afrobeats
[edit]Hello Muhandes, I'm sure you already know that I'm bringing you lot of trouble haha, I'm so sorry. However, for charts, the UK and US use Afrobeats as an umbrella for "African Music", don't you think an identifier would do since the charts are now popular and used in multiple articles? Thoughts on this? dxneo (talk) 21:15, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Dxneo: This was already requested Template talk:Single chart/Archive 5#Billboard Afrobeats chart and two years earlier Template talk:Single chart/Archive 5#UK Charts. As before, I have no objection, but how popular are these charts? How many articles already use them? Muhandes (talk) 21:41, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- www.officialcharts.com/charts/afrobeats-chart/ says this was used 326 times
- https://www.billboard.com/charts/billboard-u-s-afrobeats-songs/ says this was used at least 192 times, excluding artist's chart history such as this.
- Honestly, I will not blame you if you don't create the identifier, but at this rate, I do think it will be used a lot more in the future. What do you say? dxneo (talk) 22:14, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Dxneo: Done I added
Billboardafrobeats
andUKafrobeats
. Now show me I didn't waste my time and use each of them a hundred times. Muhandes (talk) 14:05, 2 December 2024 (UTC)- On it, give me 24 hours. dxneo (talk) 14:06, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

New Zealand
[edit]I have opened a discussion about using the official RMNZ Aotearoa charts website in the templates rather than Hung Mediun after the website update, given there are now direct artist pages which can be generally used instead. It would be preferred if the hosted charting website can be used instead of a third party site. Rockmusicfanatic20 (talk) 21:52, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Funny 'cause I just came to talk about the exact same thing. Seems like the website is a lot better than Hung Medien. dxneo (talk) 09:35, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
BillboardID template
[edit]Template:BillboardID was removed as deprecated 5 years ago. Is there a reason why we haven't removed it from the {{single chart}} and {{album chart}} parameters yet? There are still 489 uses. Solidest (talk) 01:58, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Solidest: I'm not sure I fully understand your request. Dead code {{BillboardID}} was removed from the template code years ago. As far as I can say, this edit was the last of them. At the same time,
|artistsid=
was also remove from the template code for Billboard charts.
If you are requesting to remove|artistsid=
from the template entirely, this is impossible since it is still being used for Oricon and Official Charts.
As for those 489 uses, they are doing no visible harm since this is an unused parameter and is never called. There might be some CPU wastage so it's probably justified to remove them. Do you need assistance with that? Muhandes (talk) 08:13, 10 January 2025 (UTC)- I was just asking how safe it is to delete these values from the articles. Usually obsolete parameters are collected via maintenance categories rather than stored on pages because they don't harm anyone, right? In this case too, it would probably be worth either creating such a category to gradually clean them up, or just ask someone to delete them via with a bot. Solidest (talk) 08:19, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Solidest: It is completely safe to remove them. I can create a temporary maintenance category to collect them. I think AWB could be used to delete them without the need of a bot. Muhandes (talk) 08:24, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
