Missing controversies section
[edit]I've noticed that there isn't a "controversies" section for this article, like the one that happened two years ago when two twitch streamers gave strong negative review of Chrysler K medium tank and how Wargaming.net reacted. 91.185.106.14 (talk) 17:19, 18 September 2019 (UTC)
- The issue with this is that it wasn't covered by media. reliable sources are required so as to differentiate it from just run-of-the-mill in-game drama. Additionally, blogs are not considered reliable sources either — IVORK Talk 08:30, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

The focus is on player vs. player gameplay with each player controlling an armored vehicle.
World of Tanks has been ported to multiple gaming consoles. The PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox Ones version was developed by Wargaming West studio. World of Tanks has also recently expanded to mobile platforms under the title World of Tanks Blitz, in addition to a board game titled World of Tanks Rush and a collectable card game titled World of Tanks: Generals. World of Tanks was followed by World of Warplanes and World of Warships.

The focus is on player vs. player gameplay with each player controlling an armored vehicle. Players have a choice of five different vehicle types (light, medium or heavy tank, tank destroyer, or self-propelled gun), each of which have unique gameplay styles and roles in battle. It is built upon a freemium business model where the game is free-to-play, but participants also have the option of paying for “premium” features. A four-time winner at the Golden Joystick Awards (“Best MMO” in 2012, “Best Online Game” in 2013 and back-to-back “Still Playing” awards in 2017 and 2018), World of Tanks has also set two Guinness World Records. In 2011, it set the Guinness World Record for “Most Players on One MMO Server”—91,311. Later, the PC title would set another for “Most Players on One Server Cluster”—1,114,337.
Throughout its development, World of Tanks has collaborated with Swedish power metal band Sabaton, former Italy captain and goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, Japanese anime franchise Girls und Panzer, tabletop wargame Warhammer 40,000, Swedish actor and martial artist Dolph Lundgren, and Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka.
Since release, World of Tanks has become a cultural phenomenon in several countries across the globe and as of March 2018, the PC title has over 160,000,000 registered players worldwide.
The World of Tanks series has expanded to mobile platforms with World of Tanks Blitz and on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Xbox 360 as World of Tanks: Mercenaries. In addition to its platform expansion, a board game titled World of Tanks Rush was released in 2013, and a comic book based on the World of Tanks universe, World of Tanks: Roll Out, was written by Garth Ennis and Carlos Ezquerra, and published by Dark Horse Comics. Request from Wargaming team
- Not done We are not here to help out with your marketing. The article needs to be based on facts, not opinions. See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. It also needs to be based on sources, other than the website of the developer. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources. The wargaming group, more or less recently Decided to "remove" some popular historical tanks in tiers I-V, In the game "World of tanks Blitz" and other. Tanks in tiers I-V that were not "removed" were relocated into a different tier. Thus removing lots of popularity in the game so many people played. The update that followed the the tank disappearance so far has not shown any way to repurchase any vehicles that were removed. In result has made players upset about the condition of the game. They say "that we never asked for this". I have read that they do say that the game would be better if they updated the maps and added tanks instead of getting rid of them. As a 4 year WoT player, and a 15 year old, I too am very upset about the vital change to the game. I have read a large amount of currently incorrect information as of thu, march 12. If any of the information makes any viewers upset, I apologize. I'm just going off of the information I know and have seen. The Wargaming group is hopefully working on resurrecting the fallen tanks that are no longer purchasable. But until then, as gamers, we must hold on. 172.58.87.73 (talk) 04:21, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Why is World of Tanks semi-protected?
[edit]Why is World of Tanks (WoT) semi-protected?
I think there is a problem regarding this semi-protection. With semi-protection, we have issues like...
1. No routine updates. World of Tanks has many things happening. Semi-protection limits editors from adding in new content. By comparison, Fortnite Battle Royale has been keeping up to the latest season. But this article is outdated.
2. Little idea about the game itself. The article may recognize different types of game modes, and give somewhat of an idea on what you drive, but it is very vague in description. I could assume that Tier I is a Leopard I (actually tier 10 in-game) and Tier 10 is a Pz III E (actually tier 3 in-game) We have little idea on that. The game mechanics are also not explained well. There many key details, such as penetration, types of rounds, etc.
3. More ideas on the promotions are needed. In WoT Console for instance, there have been partnerships with the WWE universe and Hot Wheels. Twitch regularly partners with WoT. But this article does not say so.
Even World of Warships, World of Warplanes, and Wargaming.net's page aren't semi-protected. Even if these simple ideas are not done, my only goal is to remove semi-protection. There are a lot of issues, and I am sure there are many users who want to edit this article.

- Register an account and contribute to Wikipedia and you'll be able to edit this article. It's protected due to long lasting and persistent disruption. Your example of Fortnite Battle Royale is a little off, as all Fortnite articles are also semi-protected. A lot of your second bullet would be considered gamecruft and outside the scope of Wikipedia. It belongs on Fandom/Wikia/Gamepedia. For the third bullet, reliable secondary sources are needed to show that the promotion has some relevance. Semi-protection will not be removed on the basis of these arguments, and if many people wanted to edit, we would see more frequent edit requests than we do. -- ferret (talk) 20:25, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
How about this,
This is a revised list of requests.
1. Give examples of some more well-known tanks in-game and note not all tanks are real. Also note there are special tanks that need to be purchased. 2. Note the partnerships that the game has had. Like for instance: https://www.gamasutra.com/view/pressreleases/370581/World_of_Tanks_Console_Launches_Season_2_with_Hot_Wheels_Collaboration.php or https://www.polygon.com/2020/10/26/21534678/world-of-tanks-halloween-event-akira-yamaoka-masahiro-ito
You don't have to add the other stuff. I am just requesting these two. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:644:8900:A88:24D7:CFD9:58FD:802D (talk) 21:25, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
No mention of Nintendo Switch anywhere on the article
[edit]So in the infobox it mentions the NIntendo Switch as a platform. But no where in the article does it say this. I know its true because I own World of Tanks Blitz on my Switch. Someone PLEASE add this. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 04:42, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

Change the phrasing about Xbox 360 accounts being upgraded for free. It should be in the past tense. Also, I don't see why this page is protected SuperMaanas (talk) 04:44, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

World of Tanks only on Windows?
[edit]It seems that World of Tanks was not on MacOS anymore?
Controversy Expansion
[edit]Just a request to add the name of the tank along with some additional context of what SirFoch was perturbed about.
The tank (Chrysler K) was incredibly well armoured in the front and at the time, immune to frontal penetration from standard ammunition by a majority of tanks in the game at the time of its introduction. The gun lacked sufficient penetration for facing most same tier and higher tier vehicles, making it almost a necessity to fire premium ammo while playing it.

There is a typal error concerning the first paragraph.
[edit]It should be 'massive not "massively". 106.202.154.148 (talk) 14:48, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- That is incorrect. English Wikipedia uses Massively. -- ferret (talk) 15:46, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
Changing the description of Wargaming company

- What I think should be changed:instead of Belarusian company Wargaming should be global video game company Wargaming headquartered in Nicosia, Cyprus
- Why it should be changed: as in article about Wargaming (company) https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wargaming_(company) it is global video game company headquartered in Nicosia, Cyprus
- References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wargaming_(company)

I believe the fact that it is labeled as a Belarusian company is because not many Belarusian companies are well known and it started in Belarus. It is true that it's headquarters now is in Cyprus, Wargaming has about 2000 employees at their offices in Belarus. Founded in 2 August 1998 in Minsk, Belarus and out of more than 20 offices globally, the one in Minsk is their largest. Overall, the removal of the moniker of "Belarusian company" is a PR move to try to distance the company away from the government of Belarus' support of Russia in wake of the recent invasion of Ukraine. However, I believe WP needs to be transparent in the matter and the the public need to be informed that is indeed a Belarusian company. In 2019 the user Tankist2020 (a self-proclaimed Wargaming employee) tried to add and edit several paragraphs of information but was denied because a wikimod Snaevar thought it was inappropriate for them to market their game on Wikipedia rather than make neutral inputs of informative content. Here is the user's own description from their sandbox "World of Tanks (WoT) is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online game developed by Belarusian company Wargaming, featuring mid-20th century (1930s-1960s) era combat vehicles" Germanator 04:51, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
https://www.polygon.com/23009709/wargaming-world-of-tanks-leaving-belarus-russia-ukraine-invasion This might satisfy as Wargaming becoming more unaffiliated from Belarus. Eventually, when they finalize the closure they will no longer be a Belarusian company but historical significance of its origin in Belarus is still important. Review bombing
[edit]The World of Tanks Blitz players are initiating a review bombing similar to War Thunder's review bombing with a similar cause of in-game economy. Please add this information. 103.125.41.181 (talk) 11:18, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- The said review bombing did not really impact the game, and most people except some reddit users did not really care. If one were to add the review bombing, then one needs to add all other significants update as well, such as 5.5. BingoDitto33 (talk) 02:54, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
