Proposed merge: West Spokane Street Bridge
[edit]It seems as though the naming of this article ("West Seattle Bridge collision") is deeply suspect, because the bridge that was involved in the collision was NOT the West Seattle Bridge, but it was the West Spokane Street Bridge (or rather, the westbound lanes thereof). User:JJMC89 bot just removed one of the few remaining pictures of the bridge (this one: File:West Seattle Bridge spans after being rammed by the Chavez on June 11, 1978.jpg). I suppose we don't need pictures from the 1970s of the bridge, and only people who know the history of West Seattle will know (and have been over the Spokane Street Bridge on a bicycle and the West Seattle Bridge in a motor vehicle) will be able to figure out the history from the mess of articles on English Wikipedia. -- RobLa (talk) 07:29, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- Done: I performed the merge for you, seeing as there was no objection to it. This article had very similar content to the one it was merged into (West Spokane Street Bridge) anyway. SmartAn01 (talk) 18:51, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, @SmartAn01:! The page histories should probably be merged too (which is something I can take care of). The West Seattle Bridge collision article dates back to 2014, but my work was only this year. -- RobLa (talk) 01:54, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

West Seattle Bridge collision → West Spokane Street Bridge collision – The bridge that experienced the collision was the old bridge, not the current West Seattle Bridge. RobLa (talk) 07:30, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- Support, but what the heck is this article? It gives no indication whatsoever as to where this happened (other than what river it crossed) Red Slash 17:26, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for reviewing this! The West Spokane Street Bridge article describes the location better, but in short: the boat that rammed the bridge was navigating the river (hence the focus on the river rather than surrounding locations). The collision happened in the Duwamish Waterway between the western portion of the Industrial District of Seattle and Harbor Island, Seattle, near the current location of the Spokane Street Bridge. The history of this area is really confusing, because of the century (or so) of river engineering of the Duwamish and tributaries and the multitude of bridges that were constructed over the various rivers in this area. -- RobLa (talk) 03:59, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
