Political violence
[edit]I'm not sure if a NGO such as the Venezuelan Observatory of Violence can provide an insight in numbers of murder and rape. However, in the last year sexual violence has been becoming a pattern even between the security forces. Among the over 300 cases of documented torture in Venezuela that have been analyzed as crimes against humanity there are cases of sexual abuse and violence. Wuilly Arteaga is one of the detainees that has denounced this, saying that one time a girl was raped in top of him while they were inside an armoured vehicle. --Jamez42 (talk) 10:06, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
- I do not doubt this is true under chavismo; it is troubling that this article makes it sound common before the era of corruption. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:20, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Troubling article
[edit]This is a troubling article. It is extensively quoting a biased source (that has an ax to grind, Venezuelanalysis.com), never-before-heard-of "experts", and a few compromised women who participated in beauty pageants during the era of chavismo, and using those kinds of sources to incriminate an entire country. Very disappointing, in a country where women have long held more rights than in the United States.
The article is also presenting statistics with no comparison to other countries for context, and not adequately separating corruption under chavismo (which happens equally to all sexes, hello Requesens Marrero Alban Salazar et al) from the cultural norms of the country, to create a quite distorted view. Ángela Aguirre
[edit]Ángela Aguirre is one of the latests cases of feminide in the country, and it seems it has received important coverage in Venezuela. It could be added when appropriate. --Jamez42 (talk) 18:31, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Morella
[edit]Morella: la mujer raptada por 31 años por “el gordo Mathías” en Maracay - Woman kidnapped for 31 years in Maracay. --Jamez42 (talk) 00:41, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
- I might make a page on her ("Morella" maybe?), especially with more sources like this. Kingsif (talk) 22:43, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Kingsif: I've thought about starting an article in Spanish, but one of the things I've wondered about is which title it should have per WP:ONEEVENT: if it should be the victim's name, if it should be the captor's or if it should be named as an event. If there has been English coverage about the case, it could help giving ideas. Still, I think such a heinous and rare case, comparable arguably only with Linda Lozaiza 's, should have an article. --Jamez42 (talk) 00:04, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Jamez42: What I was thinking. Reuters covered it alright. Kingsif (talk) 01:22, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Kingsif: Kidnapping of Morella, maybe? --Jamez42 (talk) 01:25, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Jamez42: That could work. Kingsif (talk) 01:29, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
