Venkateshvara Temple → Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Tirumala – The present name Venkateswara Temple is not correct as it is not a common name, but a generic name. There are hundreds of such temples across the state of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamilnadu and other locations across the world. I give few examples for which articles exist in Wikipedia already: Venkateswara Temple, Dwaraka Tirumala, Venkateswara Temple, Minnesota and Venkateswara Temple, Ramenahalli. As a person born and brought up in Andhra Pradesh, the Indian state in which the temple exists, the temple is more commonly referred as Tirupati, Tirupati Konda (meaning Tirumala hill). So in this context, the official name of "Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple", along with location "Tirumala" is more appropriate. Alleged alteration of origin of the word "Tiru" to Dravidian instead of Tamil. Why do you want to live in false pride?

Hello all, I would like to raise a concern about the recent modification made to the article on Tirumala, where it is stated that Tirumala is of Dravidian origin. I believe this change is inaccurate and needs to be re-evaluated. Historically, the term "Tiru" (meaning "sacred" or "holy") is a widely recognized Tamil word and is frequently used in Tamil place names, religious contexts, and literature. It is deeply rooted in Tamil culture and tradition. While Dravidian culture encompasses several languages and regions, attributing the origin of the name Tirumala solely to "Dravidian" rather than recognizing its strong Tamil connection dilutes its specific cultural significance. The original content accurately reflected this connection, and the recent change seems to overlook the historical and linguistic importance of the Tamil language in this context. Manipulating historical and cultural facts can mislead readers and disrupt the authenticity of the information. It is essential to present accurate and well-researched data, and I urge the editors to revert the article to its previous version, acknowledging the Tamil origin of "Tiru" and the cultural significance it holds. I encourage open discussion and fact-based contributions, but we must ensure that regional or personal pride does not distort the truth.
