Trevor's color

[edit]

I noticed some of the GTA character's pages have a color around the charcater's name that something significant to their character. Such as CJ's being green, because it's the color of the Grove Street Families. Trevor's color should be orange. Each GTA V character has their own chosen color (for their map icons, menus ect.), Micheal's is blue, Franklin's is green and Trevor's is orange. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.187.101.127 (talk) 10:40, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar in opening paragraph

[edit]

The opening paragraph ends "He is shown as mentioned to somehow have both American, and Canadian citizenship." I'm not sure what the context should be, but this grammar is clearly incorrect. Changing to "He is shown to somehow have both American, and Canadian citizenship.", although the correct edit MAY be "He has mentioned that he somehow has both American, and Canadian citizenship.", or something like that.

Image quality

[edit]

The image on the profile is quite pixelated, and hard to see. I suggest replacing it with either a shot from GTA Wiki or a in game "Snapmatic" photo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Queen Lover 9 (talkcontribs) 21:59, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

Does anyone else think that the Fictional American people of European descent in video games category and/or the Fictional American people of English descent category should be on this article, if so let me know on my talk page or on this talk page. I already know SNUGGUMS doesn't think so because he claims that its not reliably sourced but I've seen other characters that may not 100% have a reliable source or American nationality for the category such as Niko Bellic and Mario and Luigi. And the Fictional characters with neurological or psychological disorders category was also removed and claimed it was not reliably sourced. Didn't Rockstar confirm that trevor is a psychopathic character? and his mothers faint English accent hints that she or her family were English-born whether it's an interpretation or reliable source or not. But anyone besides SNUGGUMS let me know what you think about all this, on this talk page or my talk page. Wikiman103 (talk) 12:39, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Accent alone does not determine nationality/heritage. I haven't seen anything other than fansites claim she's English. For other characters you mentioned, WP:OTHERSTUFF isn't a good argument. If Rockstar said he was psychopathic, provide a link to that statement. Also, since Trevor grew up in Canada, it has only been verified that he is Canadian as opposed to other nationalities. You repeatedly inserting original research is a violation of the WP:Verifiability policy. Snuggums (talk / edits) 19:13, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Let's Make Sense

[edit]

I'm fine with this being its own page, but is it really fair if Trevor gets his own page and the other two protagonists don't? Maybe they should be merged into one page, or this page should face the threat of deletion, for the better of Wikipedia. Idk. 72.69.187.111 (talk) 16:41, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The reason this has a separate page and the others don't is because Trevor had lots of publicity while Franklin and Michael didn't get so much attention, likely in part due to controversies involving Trevor's actions. See WP:Notability for more. Snuggums (talk / edits) 17:12, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

National ties (or lack thereof)

[edit]

Pinging TheBD2000, Rhain, and TheDeviantPro. This page has been fully protected due to edit warring over national ties. Please discuss here what ties (if any) should be applied and why. I don't personally have a strong opinion on the matter. Snuggums (talk / edits) 19:41, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Birthday

[edit]

When Trevor was born? -TeQuatro (talk) TeQuatro (talk) 22:11, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure, and I don't think it's ever been revealed Snuggums (talk / edits) 22:15, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Uhh

[edit]

I wasn't aware that Trevor Phillips was a pansexual as in the article he is filed under the category of 'Fictional Pansexuals'. Can someone clue me in to where exactly in the gameplay it was made unambiguous that Trevor exhibited pansexuality? Because I don't remember that.

SpicyMemes123 (talk) 04:53, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The game subtly indicates that Trevor is (at least) bisexual. There are phrases like "I'd rather suck cock than smoke weed, and I've done both", "a hole's a goal", or that other characters like Michael imply that he has molested sailors. I don't know why the article doesn't develop on this. (CC) Tbhotch 21:40, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Mr. Raspberry Jam knows it's true. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:24, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I mean, I know he "mutilated" Mr Raspberry Jam and I recall Lamar Davis saying that Trevor Philips "fucks dudes" in that mission where you make that long drive delivering the stolen cars for that billionaire but that would make Trevor bisexual, not necessarily pansexual...at least to my knowledge.

Nationality

[edit]

should the term "American" be added under the character's nationality following "Canadian"? Kabelo Lesooana (talk) 06:03, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Kabelo Lesooana: If it's sourced then yes—but since Trevor's nationality is Canadian (and not American), I don't believe this is likely. – Rhain (he/him) 06:07, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Rhain Okay but again nationality is membership of a parcticular nation or state,by origin, birth or naturalization among others. Kabelo Lesooana (talk) 06:11, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Kabelo Lesooana: Do you have a source stating that Trevor fits any of those criteria? – Rhain (he/him) 06:19, 27 December 2022 (UTC) this is in my watchlist; you don't need to ping me[reply]
@Rhain No,just merely thinking out loud. Kabelo Lesooana (talk) 06:22, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: American is anyone born in the American continent, so that is implicit to being a Canadian. RodRabelo7 (talk) 15:11, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

[edit]

I have removed the pansexual category because, in my opinion, it honestly does not make any sense. There is no mention, as far as I am concerned, of this term in the game, let alone the concept itself.

As for the LGBT category, I do not think it is very relevant, bordering on original research. Apparently, if I understood correctly, this last category was added because supposedly there are some phrases spoken by GTA V characters that imply it. The example given in the discussion was I’d rather suck cock than smoke weed, and I’ve done both. Well, that does not mean anything. To suck cock does not imply being LGBT, especially because it does not imply attraction to men; for instance, women can also have penises. As for Michael imply that he has molested sailors, Trevor is a psychopath, so molesting sailors does not necessarily refer to sexual attraction, but cruelty itself.

Therefore, the LGBT category does not seem relevant to me, so I suggest it be removed from the article. Best regards, RodRabelo7 (talk) 15:04, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just saw this, I think you are indeed cleared to go ahead and make the changes you have already made per WP:SILENCE, but for the record I agree completely, except that I think you understated your case when you called it borderline original research. Beeblebrox (talk) 17:17, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think Trevor is at the very least bisexual. This isn't something that's super subtly implied ot hidden either, whenever I've played this game.

He frequently expresses sexual attraction to both men and women on countless occasions. He seems mostly romantically interested in women, but has been shown to both engage with sexual activity with men onscreen, discuss it, and mentions enjoying it.

Examples I can think of including when during a random event side mission out in a rural highway area, Trevor finds a man tied to a telephone pole wearing nothing but panties, and says that there's "few things he loves more than a man in panties", which to me definitely sounds sexual. He can also be seen spooning and cuddling with Floyd sometimes when you switch to him, and will tap Floyd on the buttocks when this happens. That last part especially seems like it to me.

These aren't isolated examples either, during random events, cutscenes, and missions, Trevor's bisexuality is demonstrated and talked about not infrequently, and not always in clear displays of dominance either. Trevor's sexuality along with his bold and aggressive sexual behavior and expression aren't tiny parts of the character either, given how often it comes up. During conversations when hanging out with Michael, Lamar, and Franklin, Trevor more or less outright states he "swings both ways" and is attracted to both women and men.

I do agree that the previous category of "Fictional LGBT men" is redundant and unnecessary if he's already listed under "Fictional bisexual men" though. Especially given the latter is a direct subcategory of the former. I also think it's notable since it's pretty clear to me that Trevor Philips is the first LGBT protagonist character in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, which to my current knowledge, has never happened previously. And I should know IMHO, because I've played and beaten almost every single main entry in the GTA series multiple times, excluding only GTA Advance, GTA 1, and GTA 2.

Like you guys, I am more than open to debate on this however, and think that it's good and necessary for the best possible article quality and accuracy. Thanks for looking out. Titanoboa Constrictor (talk) 15:06, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Titanoboa Constrictor, can you provide the names of the missions you have referred to? (Can random events be considered canon?) Also, are there any reliable sources that support he is a bisexual man? Pinging @Beeblebrox. RodRabelo7 (talk) 04:25, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No conclusion we reach ourselves based on our observations of the game is a valid source for a detail like this. If, somehow, in all the writings about this immensely popular character, nobody mentioned his sexuality, then we don't have a source. (If we were to go with my personal opinion,Trevor seems to be pansexual, or maybe just a sexual psychopath. The way he acted with Wade's cousin was certainly sexually and psychologically abusive.) Beeblebrox (talk) 06:15, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Y'know, whether or not random events could be considered canon is a good point I hadn't considered. I think I just do because most players opt to do them, and I could be wrong, but I think some Strangers and Freaks stuff in GTA 5 references previous ones from 4 as if they had happened, as does the explorable in-game internet reference both those things and the in-game internet from the previous main installment.

I know after completing the main game, when you have Trevor hang out with the other two playable protagonists Michael De Santa and Franklin Clinton, Franklin will point blank ask Trevor if he's gay when the subject of sexual relationships and escapades comes up to which he makes a number of homoerotic comments, and Trevor will always say different variations of saying that he "swings both ways", which is well known slang terminology for being bisexual.

Even if you don't have to use the hang out function in this game, I do think it's canon and citable if the character themselves more or less admits that's the case.

There's a number of telling dialogue in the main story and elsewhere throughout the game that I feel like makes Trevor's sexual interest both men and women pretty clear too.

His relationship status on his LifeInvader page (Satirical GTA universe parody of Facebook you can browse on phones and computers in-game) being "Any hole's a goal" seems to strongly indicate Trevor being bisexual to me as well, or possibly pansexual.
