Merge them. This is the same school. Zephyrprince 19:49, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He's right. They should be merged because it's are the same school. Jim Glass, Class of 1967.

Pronunciation of the name

[edit]

I suggest adding the phonetic pronunciation of 'McCallie' near the top. It is pronounced as "McColley". Floridasand (talk) 05:42, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sports alumni

[edit]

Are these lists of sports alumni really necessary? Could they be moved to another page (i.e. "List of McCallie Alumni")? MithrandirMage 05:48, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I'll start moving it. Cs92 23:17, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Athletics

[edit]

This subsection had unclosed parentheses, and did not list basketball, which I believe to still be an important varsity program. I am not, however, on the scene, and have no contact with the school, so I hesitate to assume and correct: this section needs to be looked at by someone with access. Ragityman (talk) 01:43, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I see that someone added basketball. In the interest of consistency, I will make it a hotlink like the other sports, though I'm not sure any of them really should be links.
On another topic, someone has strongly suggested (mandated?), that this article be moved to "McCallie School." I cannot give documentary evidence (I'll look into it), but as a 2nd generation alum, a four-year boarder, and a descendant of a valedictorian, I can tell interested editors unequivocally that the official name of the school is "The McCallie School," familiarly known as "McCallie," but NEVER "McCallie School," "McCallie H.S.," "McCallie Prep.," or any of the other mis-names I occasionally see in print here and there. PLEASE, give us a break, and leave the name ALONE.

Can't find sources

[edit]

I can't locate many of the books cited in this article. I suspect that the books are self published by the school. I will remove the citations unless someone provide more details on them, such as the ISBN numbers. Billhpike (talk) 20:59, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I pruned content supported by books that were not in OCLC. Billhpike (talk) 01:39, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you eds pick on certain schools? What led you to this one? There are tens of thousands other schools you could pick on.BillVol (talk) 05:51, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@BillVol: This one was blatant WP:PROMO and lacked WP:RELIABLESOURCES. Billhpike (talk) 15:46, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Billhpike: Isn't it unusual to require a reference for every notable alum, especially if the article about that person has a reference?BillVol (talk) 18:12, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@BillVol: See WP:ALUMNI

Many edits made to this page have been by the accounts PennantMcCallie and 2018McC, both of which are username violations with respect to WP:ORGNAME and WP:ISU. While some of the information may be fine, it lacks sources and in many places requires edits for tone and for neutrality. PriusGod (talk) 01:07, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
