Talk:Test Drive Unlimited 2
Not enough information for it's own article
[edit]I think it's too early to make this article don't you think?
Yes, the game has been confirmed but there isn't much information yet, also the information cited here is not relevant —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.165.93.187 (talk) 02:54, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Agreed, and speculation made on a Forza forum is not a verifiable source of information :p BetaTesterDLA (talk) 14:40, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- Wow, that looks like three sockpuppets right there 198.6.46.11 (talk) 17:18, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Release date?
[edit]Where did you get release date? Atari hasn't announced it! --77.254.140.153 (talk) 12:38, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
The release date has been confirmed a number of times in press releases, including at E3. --The_PC_Gamer (talk) 11:04, 20 June 2010(UTC)
- It's recommend that the official press releases are used as references rather than using New Game Network. Davtra (talk) 02:40, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- New Game Network gets their press releases directly from the publisher, and they are accurate (unedited) The_PC_Gamer (talk) 10:20, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Progress
[edit]Article says five categories, goes on to list four categories. Can someone who knows more about this than myself either change the 5 to a 4 or explain what the fifth category is, as applicable? jfoldmei (talk) 19:06, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Critical reception
[edit](Someone who is savvy with writing for wiki should add this section to the article)
So, the game is out and it seems there are a lot of issues. Primarily:
- PC version being limited to 60 fps regardless of hardware due to porting.
- Discs being shipped are review demos and you need to patch to get retail build.
- Many cars promised have been changed to DLC.
- DLC not available on launch.
It seems only fair that people are warned, so this should be added. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.227.187.153 (talk) 04:26, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- Not an issue as most monitors can only run 60 fps before tearing occurs which is the reason for Vsync. On a proper spec system, for this game, the fps limit will not be noticeable.
- Doesn't mean its not an issue, just not a major issue. Most CRTs and many LCDs can run up to 120hz and beyond, and if a player's rig can play this game at 120fps, they will be quite disappointed to discover it only plays at 60fps. A player would only experience tearing if they were trying to play the game above 60fps on a monitor that can only run at 60hz.--moeburn (talk) 23:29, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Atari has already mentioned the difference in version numbers, and confirmed that the difference does not affect gameplay. They plan on matching up the versions in a later patch if not already done. Also patching is a normal process in any game, so whether it is a normal retail or a review copy, the game will have to be patched to a recent version (after retail).
- Even though a car is on a list, it does not mean that it will be included into the retail package. Sometimes cars on a list are planned additions to the game. Some content may have also had to be reworked and could not make the retail version, therefore it becomes DLC or an "add-on."
- DLC has been available since launch, it is just some users are having issues in redeeming their DLC codes/cars. --Hugenhold (talk) 01:17, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Problem with Hard Drive selection??
[edit]The person who put that statement on tdu 2's page is either dumb or blind. To change installation path, there is a custom installation you can click a tick right before terms and agreements (or was it after...). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.48.117.20 (talk) 04:13, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Caution to those wanting to edit the article.
[edit]There are no pending class action lawsuits, or any kind of lawsuit against Atari for this game. The game works as intended, and the problems that are being spread around are exaggerated reports. Atari has announced that a patch has been sent to both Sony and Microsoft for the console versions, the same patch that the PC version has been using for the past two weeks or more. It has fixed most connection issues, but it is up to Sony and Microsoft to approve the patch before it is released. The game is not broken in any way, as it is playable from beginning to end in all versions with the minor exception of some features being periodically disabled for maintenance. Even though it is advertised as a racing MMO, the multiplayer function is not broken for everyone and works as intended. If any edits contain any content that is an anyway disparaging to the wiki article or the game itself, it will be removed and further action will be taken upon any offenders. --Hugenhold (talk) 07:43, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
- If you wish to add something to the article, it is best to create a discussion section about your entry on this talk page. The proposal will then be considered and added to the article if approved. --Hugenhold (talk) 07:56, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Issues section
[edit]It is worth mentioning that the TDU2 DLC1 or Exploration Pack has been released on the PC Platform.

Vehicles
[edit]In the article it says that the pc version does not have the Ferrari 458 Italia, this is not true it does have that car. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blackwolfsa (talk • contribs) 15:31, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Reworking.
[edit]I'll be reworking the article, adding references and sources, images and all that is needed to transform this article into a proper VG article. I'm also considering to put it against GA criteria after the changes.
Terribly Written Article
[edit]I've noticed there are many weird things in the article. I've modified a couple, but it just makes the article poorly written.
Like this: "Bryan Stratton from G4 praised the replacement of the motorbikes from the original game with four wheel drive SUVs, stating that it was "an excellent decision considering how broken the bike physics were." This just goes to show that this person knew nothing about bike physics or similar. Replacing bikes with SUV's was the worst decision that could have been made. The bikes came out a year later and had a DLC cost." to this: "Bryan Stratton from G4 praised the replacement of the motorbikes from the original game with four wheel drive SUVs, stating that it was "an excellent decision considering how broken the bike physics were." Motorcycles were added a year later as DLC."
There are more: "The official Test Drive Unlimited 2 web site is also now defunct. One is no longer able to purchase Atari tokens for DLC vehicles and items, as well as being unable to post on the community forums. http://forums.testdriveunlimited2.com/ This just goes to show the lack of care and professionalism on Atari and Edens behalf. The site has been offline for two months as of 7/11/2012."
I'm just left speechless… Off we go (talk) 23:12, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
- Tell me about it. Looking at the history, it wasn't always like this, but someone with a serious grudge against this game seems to keep on reverting the changes or re-adding stuff that talks down on the game. This article is supposed to be from a neutral point of view. Whoever it is, stop it. Not cool. 71.224.114.8 (talk) 05:23, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
