Sydney Olympic Park Station Move Proposal

[edit]

I understand that currently the train station is called 'Olympic Park'. The metro station is called 'Sydney Olympic Park'. I propose a move of this article from Sydney Olympic Park metro station to Sydney Olympic Park railway station. I would also add in a for/disambiguation page/template on both this article and the Olympic Park railway station article. Fork99 (talk) 07:51, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have just also realised that my move proposal also would currently mean that the redirect for Sydney Olympic Park railway station links to the train station and not the metro station. Fork99 (talk) 07:56, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
North Strathfield railway station and Parramatta metro station also explicitly states metro station rather than just leaving it as just Sydney Olympic Park. Fork99 (talk) 07:59, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sydney Olympic Park metro stationSydney Olympic Park railway station – Sydney Olympic Park is different from Olympic Park. They are two separate stations with two different names. Also see Talk:Sydney Olympic Park metro station#Sydney Olympic Park Station Move Proposal, WP:COMMONNAME, WP:D. @Fleet Lists: Is it really identical though? I can see your side and the naming convention, but I personally think that they are just enough to be different. Also, I think either way it could be confusing, and a disambiguation template/page for either side of this proposal should be made, regardless if this is supported or opposed. I would suggest removing metro station from the infobox services preceding/following station part for Sydney Olympic Park (only if the consensus is that the two names are NOT identical), as it's not the official name of the station. But on the other hand, does the naming convention apply to within an article? Or could it be too confusing if we removed 'metro station' from that part of the infobox? Olympic Park railway station; I've found the disambiguation page for this, which currently does not disambiguate between the train and metro station, only between Sydney's train station and an overseas station. Fork99 (talk) 09:11, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Note the map on [https://www.sydneymetro.info/} shows the name as "Sydney Olympic Park metro station" as we have it. But this can change over the years before this opens as has happened on the Metro NorthWest and Light Rail stations. So I suggest we dont muddy the waters even more, before we know what the final result will be. Disambiguation page [[Olympic Park railway station}} can be changed at any time to point to this and I suggest you do this now as a more constructive step.Fleet Lists (talk) 09:22, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
