Commercial model?

What commercial model? I don't see anything like that. 71.111.215.224 20:15, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

The excessive use of the passive voice should be replaced by names. Who has raised these criticisms? Documentation. Sproutviewer 23:00, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

"When PBS KIDS Sprout was launched, it replaced the PBS KIDS Channel in some markets. The change was met with some criticism from viewers who stated in online blogs (such as flagrantdisregard and bloggingbaby, for example) that they could no longer find certain popular shows (e.g., Arthur, Clifford) or who did not like that many shows on the linear channel last only 15 minutes to reflect kids' shorter attention spans."

My understanding is that shows like Arthur and Clifford cannot be shown on Sprout due to licensing issues. HIT Entertainment owns 30% interest in the network, and those programs are not HIT programs (like so many Sprout programs are). Wkargel 02:26, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Bill Kargel

What about Comcast, PBS and Sesame Workshop? They owned interests in PBS KIDS Sprout with HIT Entertainment. [User: Nate Speed]

Can someone help with the problem that this page is having? There is a user (no name, but IP is 68.175.18.142) who keeps adding incorrect facts to the PBS KIDS Sprout page. He/she is listing many many programs that are not on Sprout (e.g. Curious George, Wishbone, Lamb Chop's Play Along, Puzzle Place, etc). Perhaps these are on a local PBS station or even one of the few PBS cable channels (like WGBH in Boston?), but they are NOT ON Sprout. I see some have tried editing, but the changes are added back in again and again. Is there some way to clarify this? Anyone looking for Sprout program info can go to their website. Any assistance in this matter would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.[1/3/2007, User: George6b]

I didn't list Lamb Chop's Play Along on the list. But look: NOTHING'S WRONG!!!! I want to contact PBS KIDS Sprout! [User: Nate Speed]

The co-star [along with Melanie] was a handpuppet named Star.

So? The co-star on the show is a star. Sort of like how Bear is the star of Bear in the Big Blue House. -- Zanimum 18:44, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

The co-star along with melanie was a goldfish named hush. Star did not appear until season 2, which was never aired due to Melanie's youtube issues.

Criticism section

It's still pretty weasely and doesn't cite sources, but I did add a few blog sources to justify the first paragraph. I'm leaving all of the tags, though, until someone does the same for remaining paragraphs.--Sproutviewer 18:11, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Despite all the criticism that Kevin and Melanie had apparently attracted, and especially what surrounded Melanie's termination from Sprout, the new 'The Good Night Show' format is even worse, in my opinion! My two year old son does not seem to be terribly interested or impressed with the Star puppet in particular. And he *DID* notice that Melanie was gone after her departure from the network...he asked me where the "girl" was! Wkargel 02:26, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Bill Kargel

Why was the section on the termination of Melanie Martinez deleted? This was a major news story. Who, cough PBS, would want that deleted?

Someone deleted another section on Melanie's termination and also deleted mention of the controversy over the new host Michelle Lepe. I someone from Sprout doing this?

Look, kids don't need to know about a*nl s*x and this info shouldn't be on a page where they might surf. There is a link here to Melanie Martinez page where all this information exists in full detail. Let's put information in the right place with appropriate links per Wikipedia guidelines.

This is supposed to be an encyclopedia. The fact that kids may surf this page doesn't warrant censoring what happened with Melanies termination. If you want to edit the refference of a.s. out and simply say Melanie was fired over sexual inuendo, then I believe that would be accurate. I definately don't think you can edit out the allegations having to do with Michelle Lepe.

Shows currently on Sprout

Something needs to be done! The show descriptions are copied from Sprout's website (and are way too informal)! --Gray PorpoisePhocoenidae, not Delphinidae 02:16, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

I removed the descriptions and converted the section to a list. --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 00:55, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Not only are they informal they're waaaaay too promotional and advertisement-like. I originally tagged that section a few days ago (shown here) but all warning tags were removed by Hatman5 (talk · contribs). See Wikipedia is not a soapbox, if that makes anything useful. -- M (speak/spoken) 21:01, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

HELP! Someone keeps posting a lot of inaccurate info! The Electric Company, Fetch, Clifford, etc are NOT airing on Sprout. When this is corrected, the inaccurate info keeps being added back - why? And why the strange references to FLOAM? Is this some kind of vandalism or spam? What if someone is really trying to find out what's on this channel? How is this helpful? (George6b, Dec 18, 2006)

so all this talk about melanie

what about Leo? was he just a fill in till they found another woman host? Or did he have "issues" has well. and are thease problems going to effect the programimg or even this station? my 2-year-old loves this channel to death. Being a working mom, it has helped me to teach him so many things, and dispite what goes on behind the scenes, it is programin that parents can trust. so what's next for sprout? is it's future doomed because of peoples private lives or what nots are being blown up. Is this really fair. And do they honestly think that they will find a host that has a perfect background? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.165.51.188 (talk) 01:35, 4 February 2007 (UTC).

Vandalism warning

Could someone please delete "Dragon Tales: Generation 2" and "The Super Special Awesome Ultra Sexy Good Night Show"? Also, whoever it is, please do not vandalize the articles or add nonsense.

Cable

I changed the listing for Cox Cable from "Channel 218" to "channels may vary." I have Cox Cable, and it's Channel 217. Go figure. Bdure 00:15, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Partnership

PBS KIDS Sprout is not owned by Big Idea Productions in partnership with Comcast, HIT Entertainment, PBS and Sesame Workshop. And VeggieTales does not air on PBS KIDS Sprout. VeggieTales aired on qubo, and Big Idea Productions is owned by Classic Media. [user: Nate Speed]

Broadcast

Since when will past PBS Kids shows (such as The Big Comfy Couch, Tot's TV, Puzzle Place, ZOOM (1970s version), Kidsongs, etc.) (excluding Lamb Chop's Play Along, Theodore Tugboat, The Magic School Bus, PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch and other shows that moved to commercial TV) (excluding Redwall, which is not awesome), Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George, It's a Big Big World, Super Why!, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Reading Rainbow, Between the Lions, more HIT programs (such as Wishbone (HIT now owns rights to Wishbone), James the Cat, Art Attack, Rubbadubbers, Shining Time Station, TUGS, Fraggle Rock, Oswald, Sooty, The Wiggles, etc.) and more Sesame Workshop shows (such as The Electric Company, 3-2-1 Contact, Square One Television, Ghostwriter, etc.) rerun on PBS KIDS Sprout? I checked on the list and nothing lists them at all. [User: Nate Speed]

Let's Go Show

Can we make a page for The Let's Go Show and Birthday Show. 70.107.125.12 (talk) 19:21, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Programming sections

I'm about "this" far away from removing the Programming sections. Unverifiable, subject to vandalism, and WP:NOT, not a programming guide. Just look at the history for this article. And any other article which has a programming section, which is one of the reasons why those guidelines are in place. So here's your chance to disagree before I do so. Yngvarr (t) (c) 20:42, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

No, I'm behind that 100%. We happen to have among us a highly-persistent vandal who feels a need to disrupt perfectly-useful content (I disagree with your WP:NOT, but I'm willing to accept it if it will allow me to relax my watch over this section of the article, which seems to get vandalized more than any other piece) and thus renders it, and by extension, the rest of the article, suspect. Truly, I can't wait til WP finds some way to deal with this sort of activity; clearly, the original solutions no longer scale to the current state of WP. (Ban 'em all, if you ask me, but then again nobody did.) Endorse removal of programming section; is there a policy called WP:ThisIsWhyWeCan'tHaveNiceThings?Gladys J Cortez 23:00, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Nicktoon Studios

Since when is this afilliated with Sprout? The only relationship between Nickelodeon and PBS Kids is in the Summer of 2000, when Nick Jr. aired a syndicated version of Shining Time Station. Other than that, there is no relationship between PBS and Nickelodeon, including PBS Kids Sprout. I know this because I have a tape of the syndicated Nick Jr. Version of Shining Time Station, but there is no list of Nicktoons Studios at this area of Sprout's website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.183.13.166 (talk) 15:20, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Star Channel Mistake

Since when has PBS Kids Sprout been called The Star Channel. I looked at my TV and it was plain PBS Kids Sprout, so was the website. Who whould do such a thing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bun39 (talkcontribs) 22:40, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Former Names

I do believe the channel was known as PBS Kids before it became aimed at Preschoolers 209.30.145.239 (talk) 23:47, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

PBS Kids Sprout came from the same feed as a previous PBS Kids Channel. The PBS Kids Channel was a seperate TV channel that launched in November 1999. On September 26, 2005, this channel got replaced with the current channel PBS Kids Sprout. Its previous schedule can be seen here through Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.114.254.142 (talk) 19:38, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

The Wiggles

Can someone Please Add this Info for me Please? I'm not sure how to do it Right The Wiggles Move to Sprout Thanks!

--Jena I LOVE ANTHONY FIELD! (talk) 23:57, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

If PBS Kids Sprout changed it's name to PBS Kids, why is the logo on television still have the PBS Kids Sprout logo? Besides, the website is still around.

Also, I demand a redirect. PBS Kids Sprout should remain, but there should be an article known as PBS Kids (TV channel). PBS Kids should become a disambiguation page, and the content on that page should go onto PBS Kids (block). Some PBS stations like WNET have a subchannel that shows PBS Kids shows, so I suggest that you make an article for that channel (with one section for affiliates) known as PBS Kids (syndicated subchannel) (which will go on the PBS Kids disambiguation page). I suggest this happens. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.66.81 (talk) 19:34, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm not taking it back. PBS Kids Sprout did become PBS Kids again.--68.37.66.81 (talk) 12:32, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

The info about that in the 2009 in American television article was unsourced so I just removed it. As you can see in this Google news search for PBS Kids Sprout it is still on the air. Powergate92Talk 23:37, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Commercials on (PBS Kids) Sprout

I find it odd that a channel co-owned by PBS and Sesame Workshop would have commercials. (I know Comcast and HiT Entertainment also co-own Sprout.)

FiOS and U-verse carry Sprout

Can you please add Verizon FiOS Channel 263[1] and AT&T U-verse Channel 337 (SD)/1337 (HD),[2] to the availability portion of the infobox? They carry the channel, yet someone kept removing them for no reason. Thank you. 14.136.236.129 (talk) 22:39, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. If someone keeps removing them, you should discuss here whether it belongs in the article or not. That is the point of Bold-Revert-Discuss: There is an assumed consensus for any change so you can boldly add it, but if that assumption is wrong, an actual consensus needs to be developed. Earth to Luna

You know, we really need to make an article about their newest show Earth to Luna. I don't enough about the show to do it, but it's worth the time, because it's a very well-writen show.
