ongoing since when?
[edit]It just says 'ongoing' — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A04:4540:10E:2401:1024:2218:8DF:8F13 (talk) 18:00, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
This page is about two different incidents
[edit]If you look at the history of this page, it's about two different events. It was started last November (2016) for what was the Great Smog of Delhi then. But since, it has been rewritten for a similar event in 2017. Should changes be reverted to the 2016 edition, and a new page be started for the 2017 incident?
Or should we just go ahead with this? If we do, I propose we rename the page to 'Great Smog of Delhi (2017)' to prevent future confusion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lunaroyster (talk • contribs) 11:29, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
The page is still categorised under 2016 events (look at the foot of the page) which is perverse if it's about a 2017 incident. It should be reverted and renamed as 'Great smog of Delhi (2016)', and a new page, 'Great smog of Delhi (2017)', should be created. 87.115.97.50 (talk) 22:28, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- I agree. The older information should be reverted and kept. Instead of 2 separate article of the 2016 and 2017 smog, we can cover both in this article itself.--DreamLinker (talk) 16:51, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, agreed. The news articles cited for this specific page were all incorrectly dated from 2017 but were from 2016.Windyrmt (talk) 03:05, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved to Smog in Delhi. Jenks24 (talk) 02:20, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
Great smog of Delhi → Great smog of Delhi (2017) – The edit history shows that the original article was for the event in 2016, but since has been rewritten for the 2017 event. Lunaroyster (talk) 16:00, 10 November 2017 (UTC)--Relisting. —usernamekiran(talk) 20:23, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). TonyBallioni (talk) 19:56, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Should be discussed. Isn't that a completely artificial distinction? Smogs don't know what year it is. They don't disappear in December and return in January. It seems much more plausible to me that a bunch of 2016-related material that was deleted should be restored (if souceable) to cover the overall "great smog of Delhi" history. It's misleading for WP to suggest to the reader this is an issue that just appeared in 2017, and certainly don't need two+ articles about the same topic. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 18:35, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- @SMcCandlish and Lunaroyster: procedurally converted to an RM. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:56, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- This article was started in 2016 and has material related to that year. It shouldn't be removed, just to force it to something in 20147 if both events are notable. The option suggested below (Smog in Delhi) is far better and can provide a year by year history of major smog-related events. Ravensfire (talk) 22:26, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
Another suggested title
[edit]- Smog in Delhi is a title I would prefer. Delhi has had these smog issues multiple times over the recent years. This article can cover all of them.--DreamLinker (talk) 16:50, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
- Support Smog in Delhi to cover all smog events, which should help prevent confusion regarding what the article is about. -- Tavix (talk) 19:33, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- Support Smog in Delhi. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:45, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
- Support Smog in Delhi. Makes sense. A page that covers all smog events, causes, government actions, et cetera. -- Lunaroyster (talk) 16:58, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
