Requested move 13 October 2021

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: (non-admin closure) MOVED to Shilpi Sharma (actress, born 1994). User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 04:09, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus this person is not the primary topic over Shilpi Sharma (DJ), who is also an actress. Policy based comments agree that Shilpi Sharma (actress, born 1994) is the proper disambiguation here. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 04:09, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Shilpi SharmaShilpi Sharma (born 1994) – or Shilpi Sharma (actress, born 1994), whichever is the usual Wikipedia convention. A different actress, who is currently described with the article title Shillpi Sharma, also seems to most commonly be referred to as "Shilpi Sharma". The article about the other actress attracts about three times the number of pageviews as this one. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:19, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support some disambiguation for both, and DAB at base name. Seems that both use the same WP:COMMONNAME spellt "Shilpi Sharma".--Ortizesp (talk) 20:14, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. There is a related move request at Talk:Shillpi Sharma. These really should be a multi-move request. If that article is not moved, neither should this one, per WP:OVERPRECISION, since the titles will not conflict and each article already has a {{distinguish}} hatnote on it. If the other one is moved to Shilpi Sharma (DJ), as currently proposed there, then this article could be moved to Shilpi Sharma (actress). - Station1 (talk) 18:58, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Although it might have been nice if this was a multi-move request, the other move was actually suggested first, at WP:RMTR, by a different proposer and without a suggestion to rename this page. Since that original request did not suggest to rename this article, I concluded that submission of an additional RM was needed, per WP:RMCI#Moves of other pages ("Even if consensus is clear, when closing a move request do not move articles that have not been nominated to be moved except in the very clearest and not-even-plausibly controversial situations."). The fact that the other request was via WP:RMTR was a further complication, since it wasn't completely clear whether an RM discussion would be opened or not for the other page. Once that RM discussion was opened, I did put a note in that discussion to call attention to this other RM. — BarrelProof (talk) 14:52, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • Yes, this is an unusual case. Sorry that my comment sounded critical of you. I was intending only to point out that these two RMs should be considered together. (I originally wrote an "oppose" comment before I realized that there was a proposal to move the other article.) Station1 (talk) 04:16, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Shilpi Sharma (actress, born 1994), since both are actresses and we don't just use a DOB without another disambiguator. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:29, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support the move to make room for a DAB page. With regards to the parenthetical disambiguation it ought to be one or the other-- that is, either the year of birth OR their profession. If they're both actresses then adding that provides no added clarification, so the birth year is helpful. Conversely if it was felt that DJ was the primary profession for why the other Shilpi is notable, then simply the vocation (DJ vs Actress) would suffice and more concise. TiggerJay(talk) 15:23, 26 October 2021 (UTC) --(partially struck on 02:04, 27 October 2021 (UTC) based on Necrothesp's correct comment.)[reply]
    • No, it doesn't work like that. We never use simply YOB without a further qualifier except for people for whom there is no good occupational disambiguator. See WP:NCPDAB. Both are actresses, so this one's occupation without her YOB is no disambiguator at all. See WP:INCDAB. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:56, 26 October 2021 (UTC) -[reply]
      • I agree that we never use birth year alone except as a last resort, but I agree with TiggerJay that if, as you say at the other RM, the other Shilpi Sharma is better known as a DJ and therefore "DJ" is used as her qualifier, we could use "actress" alone for this one, who is more well known as an actress, as long as a hatnote is in place to avoid possible confusion. It would be even more important if the other one is primary topic with no qualifier; that would avoid a dab page. Station1 (talk) 19:20, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • Yes, of course, you're correct. (Shaking the dust off) It's been a while. TiggerJay(talk) 02:04, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
