Tier

[edit]

I don't really think she can be considered a mid tier character at all given that even people that don't know her combos can go up against someone like Abyss and only get hit once or twice. She's definitely a very high upper tier character, if not a broken tier. I've fought her with nearly all of the characters in the game and no matter who I select, I find her to be a borderline broken tier character.

The facts are: Her attack power is very high considering her speed, she's very fast, rather, incredibly fast, has almost no attack delay, and with the right combos, can almost infinitely juggle her opponents. --JBladen 11:47, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Abyss is a lower-mid tier character, so that example does not add up to much. She is not all that powerful, and once her VC throw was removed from the PAL/NTSC-J/AC versions her ranking dropped a tier, as her options were far more limited. She is not as fast as the likes of Taki (I believe her fastest attack is only i11), and is not as versatile as a Xianghua. If you had used her to successfully slaughter high-tier players, your arguments might hold water, but she is generally agreed to be a mid-tier character. I find her the hardest character to beat. I have the PAL version. - The 4th Snake

She definately is broken tier. The only thing preventing me from unlocking Nightmare's The Ancient Weapon is her!!! She has beaten me around 40 times now.

In case you forgot, all of these characters are pretty much subjective. You could take your weakest character, spend a day memorizing all their moves until you go through them in your sleep, and beat every opponent on the Extremely Hard setting. Personally, I hate the sword n' shield sisters, but officially they're in the top 5. And I also have fun playing with Lizardman, who officially sucks. So due to the fact that any of these rankings are subjective and point of view, no one will change her ranking until its "officially" confirmed she's a broken tier.

I've gone against Setsuka with my best characters and can't beat her to the point I give up. I now avoid her. Not to mention when i'm setsuka I can easily slaughter characters like Ivy and Mitsurugi. Setsuka13 22:41, 11 February 2007 (UTC)setsuka13

Image

I preferred Setsuka's previous profile picture to this one. This one is stylish, but the previous one was a prettier and more flattering image. JJ 80.41.14.187 23:27, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, is her hair actually black, I mean it looks brown on the picture and the game. Does it say officialy, cause thats really interesting. Setsuka13 02:12, 15 February 2007 (UTC)setsuka13

Vandalism

[edit]

All that extensive information regarding how Setsuka couldn't possibly be a Geisha or Oiran belongs on this page, not in the main article, and should be presented as a case to potentially make changes to the article. Personally I don't agree, as the game never claims to be historically accurate (after all, Sophitia and Cassandra still worship Hephaestus and the ancient gods when in fact 16th century Greeks would have been Christians for at least 1500 years already!) The game is fiction, and it's highly plausible the designers were inspired by Oiran and Geisha for Setsuka's look, and took poetic licence with the accuracy. Besides, the article doesn't say that Setsuka actually is a Geisha or Oiran, only that the designers had stated her look was inspired by the Oiran courtesans and The Queen of Hearts, and if the designers said that themselves then it is irrefutable. 80.41.21.11 02:50, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well I'm from Rome and have been to Greece many times and people still pray to shrines of Zeus, Hephaestus and others so it might happen, especially if you can hear the gods words like Cassandra and Sophitia.

Ehh?

[edit]

Her Charcter Anlyis section REALLY needs some work. Its hard to under stand and it uses the word I, a big no-no. Lego3400: The Sage of Time 15:59, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, all of these Character Analyses seem pretty much one person playing the game and deciding who they like better. I'm gonna fix that section now65.43.172.138

Deep Blue Eyes?

[edit]

Last time I checked Setsuka had hazel brown eyes, as can be confirmed by viewing all the official artworks and in game model. I believe changing it to hazel brown is much more accurate. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.191.73.194 (talk) 11:01, 16 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Very perceptive, but what this article does is detail the original biography released by Namco before the game's launch, in which they stated she has 'deep blue eyes', though I thought this article made the fact that they changed her eye colour to 'amber brown' perfectly clear? 80.47.50.84 15:11, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have question. Is Setsuka White, or is she Asian? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.69.146.168 (talk) 21:20, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They say she's a Eurasian or Caucasian though, I'm not pretty sure where it was mentioned (made-up?), but all the game tells us is she's not a native of Japan, for she had milk white skin and deep hazel brown eyes (from her SCIII bio). Though the reason for her change in SC4 is not yet officially known as of yet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Logicartery (talkcontribs) 15:33, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe she was supposed to look Spanish in SCIII, as Spanish culture became quite popular in Japanese video games a few years back. However, in SCIV they seem to have gone for the ever familiar Aryan look, which is always a favourite amongst the Japanese. 79.73.107.175 (talk) 17:49, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The New Setsuka

[edit]

What are your thoughts on it? I think the new kimono is lovely, and they somehow made blonde work on her (she looked awful with blonde hair in SC3), but I think they went more than a little overboard with the breasts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.17.119.172 (talk) 18:22, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Her breasts have become repulsive. Namco are really letting themselves down - they're becoming as lecherous as Tomonobu Itagaki. 79.73.107.175 (talk) 17:49, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think her new concept is based from the traditional Japanese way of doing things with "Hana" (flower). The lower portion of her kimono shows a bombarding flower pattern and her tatoo and hairpin is also a flower. --122.53.161.140 (talk) 07:41, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gameplay

[edit]

Okay, this is pretty much just like the old character analysis section from before. I'm removing these for the same reason people from before deleted the character analysis section. If you want to find out why, check out Taki's and Kilik's talk pages. If people want a strategy guide, they should go to fansites. Mythmonster2 (talk) 06:29, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Style

[edit]

Its not our place to state what style we think shes using, especially when contrary to what is stated by the official people, that rather against wiki rules. Also explaining the differences between Iaito and Battoujutsu is not needed, this is not an article on either one, they have their own articles, people can go there if they want to find the differences, waste of space to be overly redundant, plus its rather opionated and OR. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.207.191 (talk) 22:49, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
