[edit]

Existing content for other Rock Band games, including on-disc songs, downloadable content, and songs from the Rock Band Network will be playable in Rock Band 3.[4] In particular, Rock Band Network songs will not be as they are currently restricted in Rock Band 2, and can be used in random setlists, challenges, and customized setlists. ??????????? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.243.184.248 (talk) 16:23, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

E3?

[edit]

Anybody going to be watching E3 to update information? --grantyO (talk) 23:00, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, their will be plenty of IPs who edit after major events like this. Mostly people adding their favourite songs, but whatever. –Schmloof (talk · contribs) 23:54, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no, I'm watching E3. I'm recording all, like, 20 hours of it. One of my pet peeves is people adding their fav songs. --grantyO (talk) 02:30, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GameTrailers interview (info on backwards compatibility/importing old songs)

[edit]

Link -- About 2:40 into the interview they mention that all previous DLC will be usable, as well as "most" of the old on-disc stuff. --Teancum (talk) 12:36, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Roundabout?

[edit]

Hey, listen. I almost got banned for reverting an edit that Roundabout by Yes will be on the setlist, but there's no source. Help??? --grantyO (talk) 23:05, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Actually you got reverted by me because you changed Roundabout (song) to Roundabout and didn't give a reason for it. I don't see what a roundabout belonging on a road has to do with the article? I saw it as vandalism. --5 albert square (talk) 23:09, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A linked source to tracks to be included would help; an editor's note mentioning a website, without linking to a more specific source does not satisfy verifiability. I would have tagged the whole section as unsourced, but I find it difficult to care about such a trivial topic. Doubtless someone else will find this article of interest, and it's up to them to provide sources. Rodhullandemu 23:12, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, 5 albert square, so if I delete Roundabout, Yes, and 1970s, will it count as vandalism? —Preceding unsigned comment added by GrantyO (talkcontribs) 23:13, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you provide an informative edit summary, no, it won't. Salvio ( Let's talk 'bout it!) 23:15, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you don't give a reason for the removal then yes someone may revert your edit. Although you could try looking for sources before you remove it :) --5 albert square (talk) 23:16, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The official RB forums along with a twitter message have determined that Roundabout is in the game (they had to look on the DS game to find it at E3) but no reliable source has confirmed. We need to wait on that. --MASEM (t) 23:20, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Does an image work? -- TRTX T / C 02:22, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Technically no - it could be faked, etc. etc. I am positive in the next day to week someone will break this news, or we'll have a more definitive post on the forums from an HMX person. --MASEM (t) 02:42, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Given that it's not going to go away and we're pretty much assured it being true, I'm going to use a forum link (the one at RB forums where it mentions the tweet message and the discovery), but hopefully in the coming days that will be found by more reliable soruces . --MASEM (t) 06:50, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Three new DLC songs relating to RB3.

  1. Talking Heads "Burning Down The House"
  2. Deftones "My Own Summer"
  3. New Order "Blue Monday"

I hope it's the "Stop Making Sense" live version of Burning Down the House because the studio version is sort of..well..boring.-- Demoman87 05:23, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2112

[edit]

Geddy Lee himself has said that 2112 will be in Rock Band 3. He mentioned part of it being in the new Guitar Hero, and then clarified that the song will be in Rock Band 3, even specifying, "The one with the keyboard". Could someone find a reliable source on this and add it to the list? 142.177.224.216 (talk) 06:33, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The "source" was a person that asked Geddy at their Walk of Fame event. It is way way way unreliable. --MASEM (t) 06:58, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There's a press release from a vendor website that looks legit (that is, the press release doesn't read as a vendor description but a manufacturing one) that has a Sept 24 release date. We need to hold off until we get better confirmation on that number from elsewhere. --MASEM (t) 21:40, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rock Band 1 & 2 songs for Wii

[edit]

Besides the DLC, will the Wii on-disc songs be carried over onto Rock Band 3? 98.218.236.9 (talk) 22:53, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No word yet whether you'll be able to do it on the Wii. I'm sure they'll mention it at some point, though. --Teancum (talk) 23:26, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Midlife Crisis & 5 more

[edit]

Midlife Crisis - Faith No More & 20th Century Boy - T.Rex the video of confirmation was shut down by harmonix -.- http://fb.me/BGrJoOAq —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.151.41.13 (talk) 18:27, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I saw these, but given that the video's been pulled, they have to be treated as rumor. --MASEM (t) 18:30, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The video has been pulled because it's snuck out a little too early and Harmonix doesn't want fans to know about the TOTALLY CONFIRMED SONGS yet. --grantyO (talk) 21:42, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, come on. Just because they pulled the video doesn't mean it's a rumor. What's your logic here? --grantyO (talk) 04:54, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Because, even though I know it is 99% sure it is the official video, we cannot consider it a reliable source at this point. HMX will announce songs in time. --MASEM (t) 06:10, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
the songs could be DLC too, so we have to wait for an official announcement. AMac2002 (talk) 03:33, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

http://rockbandaide.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/RB3Leak1-e1278434867241.jpg save it and zoom and you can make it out. There's no way it could be DLC because at the top it only says there's 73 songs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.108.132.254 (talk) 10:12, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

23 Rumored Songs

Speaking of the 23 rumoured songs, Space Oddity was mentioned by name in the Game Informer podcast here by the Harmonix person: http://gameinformer.com/b/podcasts/archive/2010/08/05/game-informer-show-33-rock-band-3-summer-of-arcade-mailbag.aspx I'm not sure if this is enough of a confirmation to be put on the song list, but it's about as close as you can get to an official announcement. Dorkmaster Flek (talk) 18:48, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The eleven newly announced songs here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-16-rammstein-and-bob-marley-in-rock-band-3, seem to fit the the rumored list. I know we're not going to add the songs to the list until official confirmation, but it's looking like that list might be official. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.167.125.210 (talk) 22:02, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New set list leak - not going up yet

[edit]

A huge leak of about 30some songs were found by a video from Gamescom. Because HMX seems to be actually stopping discussion of this list on the forums, we need to treat this as unconfirmed until more details are given. --MASEM (t) 23:40, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. For the record, 1up.com has an article that shares the supposed track list. EVula // talk // // 19:51, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Harmonix themselves released a joke video that reveals all the leaked songs and a couple others. So, confirmed I guess? -TonicBH (talk) 17:06, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'd really like to see one bit that "Yes, we made this to confirm the rest of the song list in the most roundabout way possible" from HMX to confirm before adding. --MASEM (t) 17:27, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Unless the previous leak, HMX is not doing anything about this on the forums, so this appears legit. Look for sources directly from HMX and directly confirming the list. --MASEM (t) 17:56, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-Order DLC

[edit]

GameStop is having a special where if you pre-order Rock Band 3, Talking Heads "Burning Down the House", Deftones "My Own Summer", and New Order are available. Saw that these were still listed under future DLC for Rock Band 2 and thought someone with an actual account here might want to update it.

Does anyone know if there are any other preorder deals with other places? If so, we could have a small mention under the Promotion heading. EVula // talk // // 16:12, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just revealed in detail by the full setlist announcement by HMX. I didn't include gift card things, only those relating specifically to the game. --MASEM (t) 15:57, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Separate song list from main article?

[edit]

Most of the Rock Band pages have a separate page for the soundtrack. Now that we have the full setlist for RB3, should we do the same for this one? --T K 19 (talk) 18:19, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Once the game's out when we can talk about the soundtrack's reception there and include the game's reception in its place. --MASEM (t) 18:29, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Rock Band 3

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Rock Band 3's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "gamespot review":

Add more info on Pro Modes?

[edit]

As the game is further blurring the line between gaming and real instrumentation I think it might be worth an additional wiki page, separate from the article on the main game which covers the Pro mode.

1) showing the pro instrument compatibility in the form of a table and whether they need the MIDI Pro-Adapter. (my edits tried to clear up confusion I myself found here when reading up on the game)

2) highlighting what capabilities of instruments the games provide, and which they don't. For example, it cant do guitar bends, but it can do hammer-ons, pulls offs and some muting.

3) detail about the content of the instrument tutorials. pro guitar isnt out where i live yet, so the only resource i've had to find this information out via youtube videos. its very interesting from the perspective I am coming from (which is of a learning guitarist). However i'm not sure all the options are illustrated on youtube is complete. I assume the same information would be just as useful to users of the other pro instruments. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Reesrevo (talkcontribs) 11:33, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

None of this is really needed. What instruments need the adapter and what don't are listed out already, so a separate table is too much weight. The comparison to what capabilities the instruments have is also too much weight; some of it is spelled out, but if we started listing every possible guitar practice, it would be become weighty, and its also something subject to interpretation. The content of the trainers would be a game guide - it is important to know they are based on music theory, but to say "the 4th pro guitar trainer is instruction how to finger a G7 chord" would be far too much theory. --MASEM (t) 11:52, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
1 the page is a mess though, its in different places for different instruments, some information is still replicated and it isnt 'that' clear IMO.
2 indeed, i only suggested listing the few known limitations vs known feature.
3 yes not to that pedantic level, but an overall precis of whats there (notes, open chords, power chords, barre chords) plus some highlights explaining how it works. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Reesrevo (talkcontribs) 12:21, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bugs in the game

[edit]

Hello all,

I am pretty surprised to see not even one mention of the numerous bugs contained within the game. I feel like this would definitely be worthy to mention in the article The support for Rock Band 3 for Wii has been pathetic, with PS3 and X360 only being slightly better. I think it's a worthy topic to discuss since it's not speculation, but clearly documented. For instance,

http://n4g.com/news/655937/harmonix-cannot-patch-buggy-rock-band-3-on-wii

http://ww.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=208063&page=1

http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=143833

Again, I feel it is a worthy topic to note in the main article.

ChrisSimpson (talk) 02:18, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

First, most bugs on the PS3 and Xbox 360 have been fixed, except the PS3's XMB crash and talkies randomly not registering. Everything else that people seem to consider bugs are actually features or purposeful omissions from the game.
For the references you gave here, the forums are unreliable. gonintendo.com doesn't look reliable to me. [2] (which is the source for N4G's article) may be reliable. Feel free to add info about such bugs to the article, as long as you use reliable sources. I think there hasn't been any discussion of them in the article before because... well... every video game has bugs. For any game which gets decent reviews or sales, there'll probably be a couple reliable sources discussing them. –Drilnoth (T/C) 12:56, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Is the user forum from Rock Band.com not a reliable source? The game is littered with bugs on the Wii, it's not even like normal games. I mean, I know that all games have bugs, that is just the nature of gaming, but Rock Band 3 is littered with them all over the Wii console. Especially considering the fact that a representative from Harmonix addressed the upset Wii users (myself included), I think it would be worthy of note to mention in the thread. ChrisSimpson (talk) 04:51, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It would be acceptable, IMHO, to cite any posts by confirmed Harmonix employees. Citing general people posting in a forum, however, would not be acceptable because anybody can post in the forum. –Drilnoth (T/C) 12:37, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking that perhaps there could be a mention of something like, "Some users across all platforms experienced buggy gameplay" and then expand about how the Wii experienced more bugs than most. Then you could introduce HMXSean's quote about how they recognize there are bugs, but are very happy with the finished product. I'm not saying it needs a lot of text, but a mention, I believe, would be more than fair. ChrisSimpson (talk) 11:37, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
