Putt-putt
[edit]There needs to be a disambiguation page so when someone searches for "putt-putt" they can find this page. I'd add it myself but I don't know how. 72.208.61.246 (talk) 01:42, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Velocity?
[edit]Watched Buster Keaton's "The Railrodder" the other night, which led me here. Great little article but... how fast can one of these go? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.207.240.4 (talk) 13:39, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Rubber Tired Motor Velocipede, as used by the NZR in the late 1970's early 1980's.
[edit]Hi .. Love the fact the most of Wikipedia is written by people with little to no real railway knowledge, outside of Europe or the USA.. Here's a link to a restored 9now privately owned) ex-NZR Motor Velocipede, that used rubber/pneumatic tires.

Cheers. YOUR OLD (WELL VERSED AND OFTEN) OUTSPOKEN EX-NZR EMPLOYE (with well over 10+ years working knowledge of the NZR), who actually knows a LOT MORE than your stifling admin will ever admit too.!!!.

Requested move 3 October 2018
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Moved: Speeder (disambiguation) → Speeder; Speeders → Speeders (TV program); Speeder → Railroad speeder.
There is consensus that railroad car is not the primary topic for "Speeder", but I'm going to override the proposed target from Speeder (railroad) to Railroad speeder per WP:THREEOUTCOMES as 1) Natural disambiguation 2) Attested in books 3) "Speeder" is not really a type of "railroad" so the proposed title may be misleading. Obviously, that is not backed by consensus, and there are several alternative titles as suggested by In ictu oculi (redirects now created), so a new RM can be run to test them. – This word should be a WP:PRIMARYDIS as there is no primary topic. According to the dictionary, a primary definition of "speeder" is "a driver who exceeds the legal speed limit", meaning that there is another potential topic to disambiguate. I would also merge Speeders (Star Wars) into the disambiguation page as well. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 17:15, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- Support WP:ASTONISH, yes it gets more views [[1]] than the other 2 pages titled with "Speeder" but per WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT I'd say Speeding its also likely. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:30, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- Support per nom - no primary topic. Paintspot Infez (talk) 21:33, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. There's only one other article titled "Speeder", not two, and it gets only about 4% of the pageviews. There's also only one other article for "Speeders", which is only a SIA that gets about 15% of the small number of pageviews. The dab page gets only about 1 hit per day. There's no problem with the current setup. Station1 (talk) 07:14, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- Per WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT other articles don't have to be titled to be ambiguous WP:NOTDIC provides that an article can only be titled once but can have alternative terms such as Gasoline/Petrol. Crouch, Swale (talk) 08:02, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- In the case of Gasoline/Petrol we have a WP:ENGVAR situation where the two words refer to the same topic, which is the primary topic for both words, so it's quite logical and useful to have the commonly searched-for word "petrol" redirect to the topic most people are seeking. On the other hand, Lift does not redirect to Elevator because "elevator" has a primary topic but "lift" does not. In this case, the article about speed limit is not only not the primary topic for "speeder" (in fact, it never mentions the word), but is very unlikely to be the article sought by any significant number of users searching for "speeder" or "speeders", as shown by the tiny number of readers who go on to the dab page. The proposal itself is based on the primary dictionary definition of "speeder", not on a primary encyclopedic topic. The topic would be "a driver who exceeds the legal speed limit", which does not (yet) exist on WP. Station1 (talk) 06:56, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not saying that "Speeder" should nessesarrily redirect to Speed limit (although my comment did suggest that a bit) but that at least there is no PT. I'm just agreeing with the proposal that "Speeder" be the DAB and "Speeders" redirect there. Speeding and Speeder are used interchangeably to refer to the act and the person doing it. Notice that Murderer redirects to Murder. Crouch, Swale (talk) 11:05, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
- I understand, but I'm saying Speeder and Speeders are primary topics IMO. Murderer is a close call, but should probably be a dab page. It does get more hits than the three articles titled "Murderer" (film, play, and song), although just barely,[2] unless you subtract the 7 hits per day that go on to the dab page, so it might qualify as a PRIMARYREDIRECT, just like Petrol, but that has nothing to do with this particular case. - Oppose Speeders (TV series), but support Speeders (TV program) as per WP:NCTV – this is not a TV show with "continuing story elements" and so is not a "TV series". I am neutral on the rest of the proposal. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 21:55, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

[edit]The linked Wickham trolley article seems to indicate that D Wickham & Co Ltd was a British company so it probably ought not to be listed under “Canada”. Mr Larrington (talk) 11:41, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
