Height ?
[edit]The article says: "The Central Railway (...) is the second highest railway in the world (following opening of the Qingzang railway in Tibet), with the Galera summit tunnel under Mount Meiggs at 4,783 m". What about Bolivia ? The station "Condor" on the Rio Mulato – Potosi line is believed to be 4787 m high. --- Riggenbach (talk) 20:04, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Railway connecting Chimbote to El Callejon de Huaylas.
[edit]In 1956 in a visit to Huaraz by car, we drove over the cordillera but returned to the coast by railroad. The car was loaded on a freight train and we the passengers made the trip in an auto vagon. I cannot remember the name of the station in the Callejon but distinctly remember the station in Chimbote where we picked up the car again. Today on google earth I can find no trace of a railroad between Chimbote and the Callejon. 2601:588:C082:2D80:1E2:255E:1BEF:B746 (talk) 12:59, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
Gauge change
[edit]In the 2000s the narrow gauge of one railway line in Peru was converted to standard gauge 1,435 mm (4 ft 8+1⁄2 in). This eliminated the time wasted wasted at the break-of-gauge station, and improved rolling stock utilisation. 124km of 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) tracks were altered.
