Requested move

[edit]

Prior pursglove collegePrior Pursglove College — Needs to be at correct caps, but that name is currently a redirect to Guisborough#Education. This article was created a week ago, with this nonstandard capitalisation, and when I came by to stub-sort it I discovered this (while trying to rename it) and converted it to another redirect. The main editor has reverted that change, and on consideration I think the college is just about notable (sixth-form college of ancient origins), so needs to be renamed for it to exist as a separate article. 6th form or FE college?

[edit]

Hi there. I noticed your recent edits to the Prior Pursglove College article. I understand that the ofsted source you have referenced labels the college as a further education college. Yet the college's own website lists the institution as a Sixth form college. As far as I can understand, ALL sixth form colleges may be labelled further education colleges based on the courses they offer. However, there is still a difference between a sixth form college and a standard FE college. Although Prior Pursglove does offer some adult education courses, according to its own website its main thrust is sixth form education for 16-19 year olds. Any thoughts? Its instruments of government say it is controlled by a 'further education corporation'. Weirdly, the DCSF's website say it is a sixth-form [1]. Feel free to revert that and the relevant template. Computerjoe's talk 07:00, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think in reality, the lines between 6th form and FE colleges are blurring. I predict that 5 years time, most 6th form colleges will be managed as 6th form centres as part of larger FE colleges. However, for now (to avoid confusion to the reader) i'm going to revert the article back to a 6th form college. I will continue to monitor events though! I'm also going to take the liberty of copying this discussion on to the article's talk page, so that any other editors with a view might present it there. according to the department for education - EDUBase, Prior Pursglove College (URN 130575) joined with Stockton Sixth Form College (URN 130577) to become Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College (URN 142777) in 2016. I propose that these two articles should be merged here and the resulting article updated and renamed EdwardUK (talk) 22:39, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Work to do

[edit]
  • Numerous unsourced points exist throughout, especially in infoboxes.
  • Stockton Sixth Form requires significant expansion re history.
  • Alumni box needs addition of SSF individuals.
  • Too much information is only featured in the lead.
  • Article would benefit from photos.
  • Review named individuals - are they sufficiently notable?
