Dino Patti founder?

The company founded in 2006 is Underholdningsbranchen, which in 2008 created the daughter company Playdead. Dino Patti was brought in at some point in 2007. --Palnatoke (talk) 13:26, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why you are interested in changing the story. I've followed it very close and read all articles... the two met and started working on the game in October 2006 (Cant find the article with the month again, but my last link refers to end of 2006) . Correctly the idea came from Arnt, also verified by many sources. And Underholdningsbranchen is correctly created December 2006. I'm not sure the technicals but Dino acquired according to your links (CVR) around 50% of the company in 2007, before they together with the investors created the legal entity that is Playdead today. All articles refer to Dino as co-funder. It's correct that Arnt tried to remove all traces of Dino after their breakup. But all articles before 2016 refer to Dino as the co-founder. Also verified on his linked-in.

So "all articles before 2016 refer to Dino as the co-founder" - in other words, articles written when Dino Patti was in charge of much of the company's communication. Also, his own LinkedIn profile is by definition not a neutral source. Palnatoke (talk) 16:14, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

On Playdead's status as an indie game developer

Can Playdead still be considered an independent game developer, given:

1. They now employ 70+ creative professionals[1] (implying a development team of 70+ people)

2. Are having their next title published by Epic Games[2]

3. Are receiving the full development cost (including marketing) for their upcoming title from Epic Games[3][4]

4. Are developing their upcoming title using Epic Games' Unreal Engine[2]

5. Will be splitting profits 50/50 with Epic Games after they (Epic Games) recoup their initial investment[3][4]

Epic Games received a $32,000,000,000 (US$32 billion) valuation from Sony & Kirkbi the year before last, making it indisputably one of the largest video game publishers on the planet.

While Playdead retains complete creative control and remains wholly employee-owned, given the indie game page's definition of an indie game: "a video game created by individuals or smaller development teams without the financial and technical support of a large game publisher," I do not believe Playdead can be considered an independent game development studio. 136.53.0.96 (talk) 05:12, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
