The result of the move request was: Move. We have agreement that the current title is ambiguous with the "New" History of the Five Dynasties, and "Old" is a well established way of distinguishing them. I'll make the base title into a dab page, but readers knowledgeable on the topics will have to help sort out the incoming links. Cúchullain t/c 20:43, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
History of the Five Dynasties → Old History of the Five Dynasties – The current name is not specific enough. History of the Five Dynasties can refer to either this book by Xue et. al., or Ouyang Xiu's New History of the Five Dynasties. In fact in Siku Quanshu (and in the centuries before that), Xue et. al. was titled Old History of the Five Dynasties while Ouyang's book was titled History of the Five Dynasties. - Support. WP:PRECISION states that "titles should be precise enough to unambiguously define the topical scope of the article". The current title doesn't do that. Two clearly distinct titles Old History of the Five Dynasties and New History of the Five Dynasties, along with a disambiguation page at History of the Five Dynasties, would do the job simply and effectively. - Support. Current title is ambiguous. A classic case for a two-way DAB. Andrewa (talk) 23:55, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
