Fair use rationale for Image:Missouri 1977.jpg
[edit]Image:Missouri 1977.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Missouri (band) → Missouri (rock band) – WP:AT/WP:PRECISE ambiguous disambiguation is a bad idea. This title should point to Missouri (disambiguation). There is also the Missouri tribe, an American Indian band. -- 65.92.246.43 (talk) 03:21, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

- Band and tribe are not synonymous. Station1 (talk) 04:17, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- wikt:tribe a group of people larger than a band; according to the population statistics for the Missouri tribe, the tribe is small as a band, instead of having multiple bands contributing to a tribe. Even if the tribe were larger, a band of Missouri would be a part of the tribe. -- 65.92.246.43 (talk) 15:22, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- That's simply incorrect. The Missouria were a tribe, not a band. Station1 (talk) 07:08, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

- See wikt:band for other meanings of "band", not only musical band. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 10:42, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose, I'm not aware of any articles concerning Native Americans that are disambiguated with (band); the current hatnote is sufficient. 162 etc. (talk) 17:43, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- Whether self-referential gazing at current Wikipedia practice means the disambiguator is not ambiguous to the readership who are not inhabitants of Wikipedia, one should look at the words used for the disambiguator. Wikipedia's practices should be viewed from the point of view of the readership, and whether readers would interpret "band" to refer to Native American bands or not; and not if Wikipedian editors think that "band" only means music. -- 65.92.246.43 (talk) 01:19, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- This Native American group is known as a tribe, and I don't see any cited sources that refer to the "Missouri band" in the article. If you are suggesting that (band) is not an accurate label to disambiguate musical groups, then I urge you to start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (music). 162 etc. (talk) 18:08, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per 162 etc.. – The Grid (talk) 15:24, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per 162; I see no potential confusion here (and if there ever is, the hatnote suffices). Lennart97 (talk) 16:25, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
