Potential Image
[edit]I feel like we could do with an image of the Minus World itself, rather than just the level intro. I found this image over on a different wiki, which could work. However, I'm afraid of copyright concerns. RteeeeKed💬📖 17:32, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- I don't see a problem with using the image under fair use. I'll add it. flarn2006 [u t c] time: 18:18, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
All versions?
[edit]We're told that the "feature" is a bit different between cartridge and disk versions. But has it been confirmed that it's the same between the NTSC, PAL and SECAM cartridge versions? — Smjg (talk) 01:18, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Smjg: There's a video by Displaced Gamers that covers variations of it (this video, which is a follow-up to a more general overview). The video mentions (at 1:48) that there are some changes to the general gameplay in 50 Hz releases, but the video doesn't discuss that version further. The MarioWiki article also doesn't mention any differences. So I'd assume there aren't any.
- There's also a video by Retro Game Mechanics Explained that discusses the way the level formats differ between versions (actually a whole series on the level formats); the Minus World in particular is covered at 12:57. (None of these videos are WP:RSes and I doubt there is anything that's covered them in detail. Perhaps they could be external links, but they probably don't belong in the article at all.) --Pokechu22 (talk) 06:09, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Pokechu22: Hmm. I'm not sure that we can draw any conclusions from a page on a wiki that doesn't even acknowledge that the different cartridge versions exist. Even here on WP and in articles about commonplace subjects, we get systemic bias, and it sometimes takes years for someone from the right part of the world to find and fix the bias. A wiki page about a highly esoteric subject is likely to be even more susceptible to this. But maybe I should try and contact some of the people who have contributed to that page and go from there. Of course, finding a reliable source to cover it here is another matter (though it's possible that some people on that wiki would be able to PUITRD). — Smjg (talk) 22:56, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Smjg: TCRF's region/revision difference sections also don't mention anything (and references a disassembly so the list should be exhaustive). But probably the easiest way to find a source is to look for coverage in a European gaming magazine (which would at least allow reliably confirming superficial similarities). --Pokechu22 (talk) 23:37, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
