Founding date

[edit]

Does anyone have a source for Meta Platforms, Inc. being founded on January 4th (located at the top of the page in the details pane)? I've seen other sites claim February 4th as well as the Wikipedia article for Facebook the service here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Facebook Copertina5 (talk) 20:47, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are dozens of companies called Meta Platforms, of which 6 branches founded since 2020. the main companies were simply renamed, so their founding date is much earlier. Nemo 07:08, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Donation to Trump

[edit]

Under lobbying it should include:

Meta agrees to pay Trump $25 million to settle lawsuit over Facebook and Instagram suspensions

As you almost certainly already recognize, characterizing such a settlement as a "donation" is a point of view and not a fact. --ZimZalaBim talk 03:50, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In the article it states “The payment represents a significant victory for Trump, and another step in Zuckerberg's efforts to court him.”
If you’re courting politicians, that’s lobbying is it not?
Would a separate section with heading “Efforts to Court Politicians” be a more appropriate way to present this information? Uhhhhhhhhok (talk) 04:05, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Mention of the settlement makes sense. Trying to frame it as "courting politicians" seems WP:POV/WP:SYNTH. Since you have only 3 other edits before this, I am concerned you might have a paritcular POV you're trying to insert here? --ZimZalaBim talk 04:28, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You can frame it how you like but I don’t think I’m allowed to make edits but it should be publicly visible on Wikipedia that they are settling this for $25 million and perhaps add it was a possible attempt to court Trump. Uhhhhhhhhok (talk) 05:57, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
