Won or nominated?
[edit]Hello, I would like to ask for clarification regarding the her accolade in the Stats Polls Awards as listed in Maloi (singer)#Awards. She ranked 2nd place in the Most Influential Filipina Celebrity category. Is this considered "won"? Would it be more appropriate to mark it as "nominated" instead? AstrooKai │ Talk 07:26, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- Agree. It does say Most. Borgenland (talk) 07:49, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
Controversy
[edit]I can't decide where can I put the issue of Maloi about the Bini tote bag, this article or in Bini article? Royiswariii Talk! 00:50, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think it's due. See WP:NOTNEWS, WP:CONTINUEDCOVERAGE and WP:DEPTH. Borgenland (talk) 01:10, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Notability guidelines don't apply to article contents (see WP:NOTEWORTHY). However, according to WP:BLPSOURCE, contentious material
should not be added to an article when the only sources are tabloid journalism
. By looking at the available sources regarding this issue, only one article from a reliable publisher is available.[1] Unfortunately, since this article is tabloid journalism (Inquirer's Bandera is a tabloid newspaper), it cannot be used as a reference for this issue, ultimately failing WP:BLPSOURCE. – WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, The pageviews of "Maloi (singer)" of 2024 until yesterday (January 26, 2024) is 82,917 views, while 212 daily average. Besides, there's no other competition to Maloi's article except for a village in Pakistan and a clan of Tiwa people, but, there's no dedicated article on the name I mentioned. - Support. There are no other articles within the mainspace that begin with or are related to "Maloi", making this article unambiguous for now. The village and the clan listed on the disambiguation page currently do not have articles, and this article has already accumulated over 84,500 page views. This makes it more likely to be the primary topic, even if articles for the village and clan are created in the future, especially since the popularity of her group, Bini, will likely drive more views to this article.AstrooKai (Talk) 14:42, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support on greater notability grounds. Borgenland (talk) 16:42, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support, unambiguous. 162 etc. (talk) 17:24, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose as proposed, support move to "Maloi Ricalde" or "Bini Maloi", as per my and Joy's arguments at Talk:Bini (group)#Requested move 29 January 2025, a Filipina member of a girl band is none more notable than a clan or a whole
goddamnedvillage. Howard the Duck (talk) 23:52, 29 January 2025 (UTC)- (Apparently, the stricken words offended someone; obviously, it was not a personal attack as it was never directed to any specific person, real or imagined, from within or without this discussion, but I have stricken it nonetheless. Howard the Duck (talk) 00:49, 30 January 2025 (UTC))
- Support: there's only one article with this title. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 19:47, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose: She doesn't appear to meet WP:GNG, specifically WP:BANDMEMBER - a couple music video cameos doesn't really make someone notable outside of their group. I can't support moving her to the primary topic when it's unclear why she has a dedicated article at all. orangesclub 🍊 22:05, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
