Please protect the page MTR Metro Cammell EMU (DC)

[edit]

This page needs to be protected from vandalism. It has been vandalized for many times, and it is annoying. Please reply if you see this. (QBYQ7 (talk) 15:57, 23 October 2018 (UTC))[reply]

@QBYQ7: You can ask for page protection at WP:RFPP. (It's probably easiest to do that with Twinkle.) Jc86035 (talk) 17:00, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Disneyland Resort Line mention and other changes

[edit]

@Citobun, Davidng913, and QBYQ7: Are the IPs' changes (from 19 October onward) correct? Jc86035 (talk) 16:24, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jc86035: I think it's vandalism. For instance, it now says the M-Train came into service in 1973, six years before the MTR opened. Also says they were constructed from 1970, which is years before the contract to purchase the trains was even signed. Citobun (talk) 01:24, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jc86035: This is clearly vandalism. The MTR was opened in 1979, so the train were started service in 1979. MTR announced these trains will be scrapped in 2023 (or early 2024) in its official website. The IP User now says the new trains will be made by Bombardier, but the real manufacturer is CRRC Sifang, you can view MTR Urban Lines Vision Train to prove this. Disneyland Resort Line's train were came from Kwun Tong Line (I'm not sure but it is M-Train). If the anonymous user still vandalize this page, we may request protection. QBYQ7 (talk) 12:43, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Citobun and QBYQ7: Thanks. (I'm not really sure how I managed to miss all of those things while skimming through the text.) Jc86035 (talk) 15:06, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jc86035: I will keep this page from vandalism. You can keep in touch with us if you want to keep this page from vandalism. Thanks! :D QBYQ7 (talk) 16:06, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Citobun: Are any of the lists of consists actually verifiable using reliable secondary sources? The tables for this article are now out-of-sync with the zhwiki tables, and are also self-contradictory. Moreover, most articles for non-Hong Kong EMU types don't seem to have the same type of extremely detailed lists (e.g. London Underground S7 and S8 Stock has one table, sourced to a Freedom of Information response PDF). Perhaps it would be better to remove the full lists altogether (for all of the MTR articles); the carriages (or at least the M-Train ones) aren't even permanently kept in the same configurations. Jc86035 (talk) 16:42, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jc86035: Yes, various IPs have been inexplicably changing up the lists of consists for what seems like years. I agree that we should probably remove the lists (until/if a reliable source can be found) because it is very likely that the information is wrong. Citobun (talk) 07:07, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Citobun: I've removed the lists in this article. Should the lists also be removed from the other articles? Jc86035 (talk) 08:17, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jc86035: Thanks. I think so, considering all the weird behavior/subtle vandalism surrounding this content (and the fact that the trains are sometimes reconfigured, as you noted). Even though it is detailed, I am not opposed to re-adding the content if someone can produce a reliable (and up-to-date) secondary source. Citobun (talk) 12:53, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
