I remvoed the level 2 heading for blogging because it was only one paragraph long, so it can join the previous section. RJFJR 14:59, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
Cognate anagrams
[edit]Nothing in this section seems very encyclopaedic to me - I have already removed a blatantly attenuated assocation of "gay cruising" with the anagram "hate shamed path" for Hampstead Heath, but I am probably going to remove the rest unless any of it can be cited - at the moment it is nothing more than POV. Any thoughts? Peeper 00:38, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
The cognate anagrams were intended and identified as such on the Thingbox thread. Whether they were unintentional or not does not change their cognate nature.Barryheck 22:03, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- Response - Unfortunately I think it falls foul of WP:NOR. I have put in a request for a citation, so please add one. Without it, it doesn't fit well here. (Also, please do remember to sign all posts with four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end.) Thanks. Peeper 20:49, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
The thread was discussed on Thingbox here: http://www.thingbox.com/forums/thread/11000/1. Although citation is irrelevant as an anagram's cognate nature does not depend on the author's intention but the reader's interpretation. For example; Concerning Torments would only be cognate to people knowledgable of the Mornington Crescent game. Others may spot an apparent cognate meaning in another anagram that the author had not intended.Barryheck 22:03, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Incidentally, there was a link to Thingbox previously but it was removed as the site needed registration. Wouldn't the citation encounter the same problem?Barryheck 23:51, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
