Pumped-storage entries
Per discussions on the List of pumped-storage hydroelectric power stations page, I added pumped-storage hydropower stations in China to this list. I added a "PS" to the end of each name and made a note at the bottom to indicate they are pumped-storage. I will be moving the rest of the PS stations that meet to criteria to regional pages in the coming week. Since this is part of a larger effort and Wiki, let me know if you like the formatting.--NortyNort (talk) 05:03, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- English is not a common language within China. Very few people can read in English. Even fewer people can write in English. So most of information about China, and here about Chinese power stations, cannot be found any English reference on the web at all. There are tons of informations in Chinese, from news and official document. If we insist we have to give every entry a valid English source. Forget about any complete list, not even close. It could only be a joke. Generalhuo (talk) 02:08, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- I have verified and used Chinese sources with articles on the English Wikipedia as well, as long as they translate well in a web-based translator. See: List of pumped-storage hydroelectric power stations#References.
- Please see the discussion I left on you talk page as well. Besides the referencing, the problem is that you deleted (probably accidentally) existing power plant additions that other editors put on this article. Your entries are welcome, just stop deleting all the other entries though. Reinsert your entries, referenced, without deleting the existing ones. If you revert my edit again, then all that appears on the article is your additions, which wiped out the other part of the article.--NortyNort (talk) 02:28, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- 1st of all, I didn't delete any valid entries. They were all included in the new updated list, except some of small stations <1000MW. It was me who put most of old entries about pumped-storage hydroelectric power stations of China. They need to be updated.
- 2nd, as I said, if you want to make an encyclopedia about China, you cannot just rely on online sources in English only. That's joke. Most of stuff are in Chinese (and they may not be on-line available at all). Even there are some in English, mostly are outdated or inaccurate.
- Last, let's not be double standard. Look all other nations articles. Most of entries have no references either. Why just be picky on articles about China. Even though it is much more difficulty to find English sources. Let's say comparing to English-speaking nations like India or even United States. Look at this page, http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_power_stations_in_Pennsylvania , where are the references? Did you delete every entries there? I don't want to show you every article from nation A to Z here. Please delete my "un-sourced" input after you delete all "un-sourced" inputs in other nation's articles. Fair? Generalhuo (talk) 04:13, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- Look at your revision here. For example in it, you can see that when you entered your entries, the Three Gorges Dam was removed. That is just one of many that was removed; Jinping-I Hydropower Station and Jinping-II Hydropower Station were renamed and not properly relinked. All three of these are major power stations in China. If you changed the name then it needs to be called the Three Gorges Dam. Also, power stations below 1000 MW still need to be on this list. Power stations below 1000 MW were specifically taken off the big lists and put on these countries pages.
- If you have references in Chinese, use them. I don't have a problem. And yes alot of articles don't have references and you can challenge the entries, unless there is a link to the a specific page regarding that project. On the List of power stations in Pennsylvania, those entries have links to articles with references which is ok.--NortyNort (talk) 20:22, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Third opinion
From what I see, Generalhuo (talk · contribs) should not have reverted the 366849271 edit made by NortyNort (talk · contribs), until a firm conclusion is reached in the above discussion. Aside that, I think it is wrong for Generalhuo to comment "Let's not be double standard. Look all other nations articles. Most of entries have no references either. Why just be picky on articles about China". It may be true that other articles are not in standard, or by the MOS, but we as editors, should make sure that it is in standard even if it means editing the first article out of a million more; this encyclopaedia is after all, functioning on that principle.
I also do agree that the newer version (compared to the old) by Generalhuo did do some considerable damage to the article. For example (keeping the referencing aside), many links in the new version are broken (improperly linked).
On the last comment above (by NortyNort), I strongly agree that "Power stations below 1000 MW were specifically taken off the big lists and put on these countries pages", as I myself was involved in that process. Regional lists, like this article, seems to be the most accessible place to list such power stations. Thus removal of these entries, without proper reason, may simply considered vandalism.
I will, for the above reasons, revert again, and will have to ask both to stop any further reverts. Please consider discussing (with proper consensus) before making any further edits which may be considered controversial. I hope this helps. Kind regards to both. Rehman(+) 10:11, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Totals
I think there should be totals at the bottom of the columns reflecting operational, proposed, and under construction capacities. 174.30.44.30 (talk) 10:14, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
Merge with List of major power stations in China?
I started a discussion back in February here but it didn't have any input. These two articles have very similar names and should be merged. There is no sense in having a list of major power stations and a list of power stations. All of the separate lists in the major power station article can be placed at the bottom of this article or better yet, at the bottom in a nav box. These lists are a great contribution to the encyclopedia but I want to reduce redundancy.--NortyNort (Holla) 02:45, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
I started a nav box below:--NortyNort (Holla) 05:53, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- Support, agree with nom. All of the "major" lists should be merged with the commons regional lists (with the "major" excluded from the titles). Rehman 03:17, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- Comment this is an old one and a no brainer, will merge later today.--NortyNort (Holla) 21:41, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
Seem to be missing a few.....
Lots of coal fired stations missing. The list is probably about 10% of the units!!
I've added:
Daya Bay Units 1 & 2 Nuclear
Ling Ao Phase 1 Units 1&2 Nuclear
Ling Ao Phase 2 Units 1&2 nuclear

- Thanks! It's difficult to add all the coal and even hydro plants. With this page, often a lot of attention gets paid to the divisional articles: List_of_power_stations_in_China#By_location.--NortyNort (Holla) 02:34, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
