Move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was not moved. --BDD (talk) 23:11, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

List of number-one Billboard Rock SongsRock Songs – Page was moved without consensus. It doesn't make sense to have a "List of X" when "X" doesn't have an article. G6 declined by pagemover, who feels that moving back is not uncontroversial — but as I said, the move was made unilaterally without consensus anyway. It seems like the mover is trying to WP:OWN what he thinks is the "right" title. None of the other Billboard charts have "List of [name of chart]" without "name of chart" also existing. • Oppose the move as stated, and oppose the current title as well. This is not an article about the general topic of "rock songs", but about a published chart containing rock songs. That other Billboard charts have articles like Alternative Rock is an indication that we have many mistitled articles, not an indication that this article should be moved to such a generic title. In my opinion, the proper format for such article titles is that employed at Mainstream Rock (chart), rather than the current or former title of this article. Accordingly, I would suggest moving to Rock Songs (chart); I don't think the present article title is correct, but I also don't think the move proposed above is an improvement. 168.12.253.66 (talk) 20:20, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rock Airplay

[edit]

We should include a separate column for Rock Airplay number ones! It'd be interesting to compare. icelandic hurricane #12(talk) 12:44, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Longest running songs list?

[edit]

I've noticed Ride from Twenty One Pilots is still on the list at 4 in its 86th week. Should we list the longest runners on the chart? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azul120 (talkcontribs) 17:26, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rock Songs

[edit]

"Rock Songs" shouldn't redirect here, it should redirect to rock music. It is very US-centric to think most of the English speaking world would immediately think of a list of No. 1 songs on a Billboard cart rather than just rock songs in general. I don't see any evidence even US people would. Sigurd Dragon Slayer (talk) 04:33, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Issue June 13

[edit]

What's with the inclusion of r&b and pop songs this week Powfu, billie eilish,Tones and I,Benee,24 Golden and ashe I know Billie is on modern rock songs but neither of the others are rock songs at all if this going to continue i'm not going to update anymore as it is not a list of rock songs. DanTheMusicMan2 (talk) 10:46, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

All of those songs have been on the "alternative" charts for weeks and Billboard is now incorporating them into the Hot Rock Songs rankings, thus the change of the name of the chart to Hot Rock and Alternative Songs. It's just more of Billboard deciding what genre songs belong to and not the fans of those genres. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 16:27, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: page moved. (non-admin closure) ~SS49~ {talk} 01:35, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

List of number-one Billboard Rock SongsHot Rock & Alternative Songs – I opposed a similar move previously (see above) on the grounds that at the time the article was not much more than a list of the number ones on the chart with little context or content on the chart itself. While what's there now still amounts to a stub, and at some point, the list itself can be a stand-alone, I've reconsidered my earlier thinking. The move request itself comes from this article explaining the reason for the chart being renamed. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:55, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Support. New name of chart, this page should be re-named to reflect the new change. It also seems that Alternative Songs has been renamed to Alternative Airplay, based on the artist chart history pages. Daerl (talk) 03:50, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
