Lawnmowers Rock! 09:23, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Will the USB gamepads work with a Mac? It might be interesting to mention. Belltower 14:20, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. There are Mac OSX software drivers for the wired controllers but it is not made by Microsoft. --8bitJake (talk) 23:26, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rumble

[edit]

Does the gamepad have a rumble feature? The article doesn't give an indication either way currently. Hackwrench 05:39, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it does, dual rumble vortex 23:20, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cross-platform added

[edit]

I beleive that becuase it is such an big feature of the controllers that I added the section about how the controller can be userd on a PC as well as the new device that allows wireless controllers to work on a PC

Sony Flash Drives

[edit]

I don't think Sony flash drives work, or at least mine didn't and it's up to date.

HD-DVD

[edit]

In reading the article, I can't work out what the advantage would be to using an external HD-DVD drive through the X-Box 360, as opposed to simply connecting an HD-DVD drive directly to the TV or receiver. Does anyone know and can the article be clarified? Johntex\talk 06:54, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Xbox 360 does all of the video and audio processing. So the HD DVD drive cannot be connected to a TV and work alone. It needs to be connected to something that will process the video and audio signal and then can output it. Either an XBox 360, or a PC. I'll look over the article and see if this needs clarifying, hope this helped RC Master 14:34, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

VGA Cable

[edit]

While I was reading the page, I was wondering, do RGB cable inputs support VGA? It might be worthwhile mentioning. Please reply. Lawnmowers Rock! 09:23, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think VGA signals usually have one or two separate wires for a synchronisation signal - in the case of component this synchronisation signal is combined onto the three connections - so the answer is probably no - though in some cases (probably rare) the answer might be yes. The signals ( RGB and VGA) are quite similar in the way they send the data and so not much difference in quality between the two (both quite good). It all depends on your monitor/tv - you might get a fuller answer at Wikipedia:Reference desk/Computing - though from my own research it seems that for this to work the xbox would have to output a sync on green signal when using VGA - I guess this isn't the case.87.102.84.170 15:12, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The component video#Analog component video page explains

RGB Analog Component Video: The various RGB (Red, Green, Blue) analogue component video standards (e.g. RGBS, RGBHV) typically offer the best analogue video signals available in consumer electronics. RGB uses no compression and offers no real limit in color depth or resolution. Most modern computers offer this signal via the VGA port. Many televisions, especially in Europe and Japan, utilize RGB via the SCART connector. All arcade games, excepting early vector and black and white games, use RGB monitors.

The difference lies in the "sync signal" a three RCA plug connection will not work with VGA if the VGA uses a separate sync.87.102.84.170 15:22, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

what is the deal of having a HD 360, if all the HD movies are beening kick out of the market. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.153.231.84 (talk) 16:53, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Compatibility stuff worth mentioning

[edit]

1. Is the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player compatible with 360 Elite? 2. Is the Xbox Fishing Rod Controller compatible with Xbox 360? 3. Is Rapala Pro Fishing for Xbox compatible with abovementioned fishing reel controller on Xbox 360? 4. Is The House of the Dead III for Xbox and light guns compatible with Xbox 360 and big screen TVs?

Anyway, I just think answers to the above and similar compatibility questions would be helpful in the article. Best, --164.107.223.217 04:13, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question 1. Yes. The HD-DVD player will work on all Xbox 360s. Question 2-4 No. There are no way to use Xbox one controllers with the 360. --8bitJake (talk) 23:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re-arranged article

[edit]

I made several changes to the article just now - although the page may look very different no information was removed. Here's the changes I made if anyone is curious:

New Sections-

  • AV Connection, Universal Remote, and HD DVD Player are now under a "Media" section. Someone could come up with a better name for this.
  • The headset and vision camera and network adapter are now under an "Xbox Live" accessories section.
  • I also moved the Chatpad accessory under controller section since that's what it relates to (plugs into the bottom of one).

Re-arranging - Previously the accessories seemed to be listed in a random order. I moved them together where possible - the universal media remote is now listed right under the HD DVD drive for example. Faceplates are least important/popular and don't relate to anything so I moved it to the bottom. In the controllers section I moved the actual accessories to the top, and the note on cross-platform compatibility to the bottom of the section.

If anyone has problems with this new order, discuss it here. SeanMooney 21:41, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Big Button Controllers

[edit]

Images tagged as fair use cannot display in talk pages, per Non-free content criterion #9, so I had to edit your comment to convert the thumbnail to a link. Dancter 19:42, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it should be added here as it's a game-specific controller and not a standalone Xbox 360 accessory. SeanMooney 23:27, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed move to Xbox 360 accessories

[edit]

Due to naming conventions, I believe this article should be moved to Xbox 360 accessories (without the capital A). TH1RT3EN talkcontribs 00:06, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Could probably have been listed as uncontroversial IMO, but now it's listed here let's go with it just in case there's some objection that hasn't occurred to me. Andrewa 01:38, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: My mistake, I missed that when I was reading over the Requested Moves page. TH1RT3EN talkcontribs 18:11, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been renamed from Xbox 360 Accessories to Xbox 360 accessories as the result of a move request. --Stemonitis 16:50, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction of third party assessories

[edit]

Reading the first sentence of the article got me thinking. There are many alternatives to the accessories listed here and also no third party accessories are mentioned like the intercoolers. They too are accessories arent they??. If anyone has any objections or suggestions let me know or in a few days I will add some of the third party accessories to this page. Deathtrap3000 02:59, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should list only first party (official Microsoft) accessories - the way it is now the page is too big and it's confusing having them mixed in. Maybe break the third party accessories off into a separate page? Or at least put them all in a paragraph near the bottom. SeanMooney 21:07, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Controllers

[edit]

This page provides absolutely no information about the controllers for the X-Box. Could someone fix that/ (number of buttons, configuration, etc.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.154.56.245 (talkcontribs) 18:21, 8 August 2007

Article needs major work...

[edit]

This article looks like someone got lazy and just copied-and-pasted the advertisements from the accessories directly into the page. I added the advert tag to the top of this article in the hopes of it being rewritten by a user with first hand knowledge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SwiftGeneration (talkcontribs) 09:14, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If there is any direct copy-pasting of large chunks of copyrighted text, then there definitely needs to be some rewriting. It seems like you're advocating original research, though. Could you elaborate on what exactly your concerns are? Dancter 14:53, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Controller soundcard

[edit]

Has anyone been able to find any information on the soundcard that's built into the regular Xbox 360 (Wireless) Controller? I suppose with the plug-and-play-ness it doesn't matter much on the Xbox 360, but it is interesting for when it's connected to a PC. I'm assuming it works like any other USB headset, but have no idea about the brand of soundcard, sound quality, stereo capabilities, et cetera. Could someone add this information (along with a source reference)? Thanks! Retodon8 (talk) 08:33, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Voltage

[edit]

Rechargable battery pack: It is recommended in place of disposable AA batteries (which differ slightly in voltage).

NiMH Rechargeable AAs: Simple rechargeable NiMH AA batteries are the exact same voltage as the battery pack available from Microsoft. In fact, all that is in the battery pack are two 1800mAh AA cells giving up to 1800 mAh at 2.4v.[citation needed] On the other hand, two 2500mAh rechargeable AAs in the standard battery holder will give up to 2500mAh @ 2.4v, lasting approximately 50% longer.[citation needed] A charger with 4 x 2500mAh AAs can be purchased for $20, which gives the ability to power two controllers, or one controller while another set is always charged, for the same price as a Microsoft "Play and Charge" kit.

Looks like someone had a bit of a fight on the article; but I'm not sure whether real batteries and the pack have the same voltage, so I can't fix it.

Rock Band and Guitar Hero 2 + 3

[edit]

I notice the Guitar Hero II and III controllers are now listed. Can we submit the Rock Band instruments, or should the GH content be moved elsewhere/linked to?

TrackZero (talk) 23:13, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should change the name to Music Game Controllers and add the Drums, Keyboards and Pro guitars as well. Hakko504 (talk) 09:24, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've been meaning to do this myself for a while now but have never go around to it, so go right ahead. One thing I would say though is it should probably be called "Rhythm game peripherals" (since it will probably include mics as well, which aren't controllers, and the games are referred to throughout Wikipedia as rhythm games, not music games). If you do it, don't forget the wireless mics for Lips. Alphathon /'æl.f'æ.ðɒn/ (talk) 13:49, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

hd dvd article

[edit]

I have nominated the seperate article for deletion. There wasnt very much information that wasnt included on here, and as it has been discontinued there is no way it will become a long page. If the flow isnt quite right on here now, please help improve it rather than just undoing my changes. thanks Chocobogamer (talk) 23:36, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be separated again as the page is getting too long as it is. It should be a paragraph or two explaining what it is and how it is used. It was to long in the first place and went into to much detail that should be kept in its own article. If you disagree with this then go and merge all the other accessories mentioned in this article that have their own page to keep with continuity. Deathtrap3000 00:28, 14th March 2008 (GMT)
If it becomes purely a list as you described above, this infringes Wikipedia's policy. Articles such as the HD DVD player, that will not need any expanding due to discontination or a set standard (such as the remotes once a picture is uploaded), need to stay in this article to avoid the above problem. Also, the reason it was 'merged', was the fact that the article regarding HD DVD that already existed on this page was very long and contained a lot of information. Once you clicked on the seperate article most of the information was already viewed Chocobogamer (talk) 00:52, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well now its different. The information provided on this page is now all that's needed to know what it is. Anyone wanting to find out more can simply click the link to find out all the information that is beyond the scope of this article. Well that's my opinion of course. If I'm wrong in thinking that details about how Toshiba has discontinued making its own HD DVD players should not be on this page, then feel free to include them again. Deathtrap3000 23:27, 14th March 2008 (GMT)
I think its fine as it is, any more info and it might as well have stayed on the page. I put it on here because there was so much information on here already and not much more on its own page. Now its completely different. Chocobogamer (talk) 23:53, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

photos

[edit]

Can anyone upload a picture of the full UMR to the page, alongside the short one please. I have created a 'gallery' so that flow isnt ruined by having both pictures on the page. Also, photos might help for the following (majority of accessories in fact):

  • Wired headset
  • Steering Wheel
  • Arcade Stick
  • Wireless network adapter
  • Crossfire wireless gaming receiver
  • Memory unit
  • Faceplate

Chocobogamer (talk) 11:49, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can help with photos of all of these except the "Crossfire wireless gaming receiver" --8bitJake (talk) 19:02, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take these this week. --8bitJake (talk) 16:44, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Too early for "Newton" Controller mention

[edit]

I don’t think word of the Newton controller project should go in the article until there is official confirmation and details from Microsoft.

It is way too early and we have to wait for it to become official. Same thing with the 60-Gig hard drive and future motherboards (Jasper, Opus and Valhalla).

I am actually one of the sources backing up on MTV News’s reporting on the Newton project.--8bitJake (talk) 21:53, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hori Arcade Stick

[edit]

I need to write up a section for the Hori arcade stick (Virtua Fighter 5/ DOA 4). I have some Creative Commons photos that I took to include. --8bitJake (talk) 23:16, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is that the SC4 stick? If so, definitely include please.--Scottymoze (talk) 04:12, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

blu ray player

[edit]

i was jsut watching g4 and they annouced that mircosoft is making blu-ray players to connect to the 360 like the hd player did, its funny, they got to follow it sony's footprints, but either way ps3 will always be better then the xbox 3shitty. USEDfan (talk) 20:24, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

they will be released in winter 2008 according to what g4 said. USEDfan (talk) 00:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is a rumor at this point. It is a very likely rumor but it is still a rumor. We have to wait for it to become official before we can put it in the wikipedia article. Same thing with the Newton controller, 60 Gig HD.--8bitJake (talk) 08:25, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

headset only does voice

[edit]

It seems important to note that while the out-of-the-box headset is convenient, it only supports voice communication. To hear music and sound effects, another peripheral is needed. It's not always practical (and kind to neighbors) to crank up the home theater to hear every footfall--headphones sure would be nice. The only headset I could find that supports game music/sounds and voice communication is the Tritton AX360 (USD 100.00). Game sounds are particularly important for first-person shooters, where it pays to be able to hear an opponent sneaking up behind you. Meonkeys (talk) 04:40, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Standard Headsets

[edit]

The article states that "It should be noted that standard Xbox 360 wired headsets cannot connect to the chatpad due to the lack of the side pins". However, I purchased a 60GB "Pro" edition of the 360 and the headset that it came with had the in-line mute/volume features, making it exactly the same as that which comes with the chatpad. Could someone verify and change this?

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.33.124.47 (talk) 18:43, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wi-Fi adapter

[edit]

There is no mention of it in the page. I don't know much about it, only that it exists. If someone has the time, adding it would be nice. I'll have a look around and see if I can find enough info. Elideb (talk) 16:13, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I looked for it and found it was deleted by User:142.166.48.98 (talk) on October 26, 2008 and went unnoticed. Ive re added the bits that were deleted. --Deathtrap3000 (talk) 20:32, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have revised the text, checked some stuff and reordered the section. I hope it is good enough now to avoid arbitrary deletions. Elideb (talk) 04:30, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

prices

[edit]

would the prices of the products be a good idea to have in the article? i think it would help —Preceding unsigned comment added by 949paintball (talkcontribs) 16:08, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merging accessories section of "Xbox 360 controller"

[edit]

Hi all. I've been thinking; why is the chatpad, wireless receiver etc listed on Xbox 360 Controller more prominently than in here? To me it would make sense to transfer the info for all the accessories to this page and maybe have a short paragraph on the controller page linking to them. It sort of makes sense to have the battery packs there, but I think it would still be better in the accessories article. I therefore suggest that we merge Xbox 360 Controller#accessories into this page. AlphathonTM (talk) 20:33, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done Since no one objected in two weeks, I have gone ahead and done it. AlphathonTM (talk) 01:33, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Microphone compatibility?

[edit]

Original xbox works for the weird outlet on the bottom of the controller, maybe add something about original xbox compatibility. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.55.212.73 (talk) 18:16, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are going to be clearer than that. I have personally never owned an original Xbox so maybe that's part of my problem, but I really don't know what you are saying. Are you saying that there is a headset for the original Xbox that works on the 360. Are you saying that the headset for the 360 works on the original Xbox? Are you making a comparison between Xbox and Xbox 360 headsets? Are you saying something completely different? I don't know if English is your first language, but your post doesn't make a lot of sense.
Also, in future, please add new comments/questions at the bottom of the page - it is easier to find that way. If you use the "Add topic" button at the top right of the page, it will do this for you automatically. AlphathonTM (talk) 18:30, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Skateboard

[edit]

Tony Hawk Ride uses a skateboard peripheral, should this be included? tractakid (talk) 21:38, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't see why not. While on the subject, there are several Rock Band/Guitar Hero peripherals missing too. Alphathon /'æl.f'æ.θɒn/ (talk) 21:39, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wireless Speed Wheel

[edit]

I think it's time to include the new Wireless Speed Wheel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.74.53.220 (talk) 07:33, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Connectors and compatibility

[edit]

Either in this article under the section AV Connectors and Cables, or in Xbox_360_hardware it would be nice to see which type of HDMI connector the Xbox 360 uses, and whether there's compatibility with other makers' HDMI cables of the same gender and type. - Egmonster (talk) 17:16, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wireless Gaming Receiver.

[edit]

The article currently states that "One of the issues with using wireless controllers is that there is no way to turn the controllers off unless you remove the battery of the controller." While this is true that you can't manually turn the controllers off, shouldn't it be noted that they turn themselves off after a period of inactivity? Lmcgregoruk (talk) 15:34, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"The Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows" -

[edit]

It is cited, that "the adapter will work with "all future wireless devices"".

  1. This is false information
  2. The footnote link is dead
  3. web.archive.org cached versions state: Will work with future Xbox 360 Wireless Accessories.[1]
