Air Disasters S7
It seems that Smithsonian might be moving to release S7, as they aired "Lockerbie Disaster". However, YTTV may have incorrectly listed it as S23E2102.
I'll update it once more episodes come out. Interstate264 (talk) 02:20, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, this is really weird. They're airing Mayday season 7, but aside from the episode you note, none of the episodes have a season or episode number! And there's no reference to find the correct season. Smithsonian's Air Disasters page is a redirect to Paramount+, but the P+ page only lists 19 seasons.
- Regarding "S23E2102"... up until season 18 in 2022, Smithsonian always had 10 episode seasons. Season 18 had 24, back to 10 for season 19, and then a whopping 30 for season 20 (which was all re-edits of The Accident Files). So either the new episodes are season 21, or season 20 really should have been S20, S21, and S22 at 10 episodes each, with the new season being S23.
- This is not the first time Smithsonian has made error is the listing data. Msschmitt (talk) 05:16, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- More confusion:
- Spectrum's guide now lists this season's episodes as continuations of season 20: Scratching the Surface is S20 E31, Lockerbie Disaster is S20 E32, etc.
- But if you go to the Smithsonian Channel's TV Schedule, it is season 21. For example, Falling Fast is S21 E6.
- So which is it? I'm inclined to go with S21. Msschmitt (talk) 20:47, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- The Smithsonian Channels TV Schedule and the Spectrum guide are now, finally, both in agreement: we're watching "new" episodes in Air Disasters Season 21. So I'm updating as such in the page. Msschmitt (talk) 20:20, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
Can we add Crash of the Century back?
It got cut when they remade the episode and because it's legally in a weird middle ground spot, but since then other episodes definitely part of Mayday have also been remade and other S1 and S2 era works have had weird distribution issues.
Also two separate official channels uploaded it as a Mayday episode and everyone in the community calls it one, I think the choice years ago to cut it from the spot was misguided.
Here's the source of it to add back if it's agreed-
Spin-offs (2005)
Mayday has one episode that is not a part of any particular season: Crash of the Century, a 90-minute special investigating the infamous Tenerife airport disaster.
# | Title | Incident | Original air date | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Special | "Crash of the Century" | The Tenerife airport disaster | 2005 | |
On 27 March 1977, the deadliest-ever aviation accident occurs at Los Rodeos Airport (now known as Tenerife-North Airport) in the Canary Islands, when Pan American World Airways Flight 1736 and KLM Flight 4805 collide on the runway in thick fog during the KLM aircraft's attempt to take off, killing 583 people. The poor weather played a part in the disaster, but the fundamental causes of the crash were numerous errors by the pilots of the two aircraft and the airport's air traffic control officers. Note: The television program was a co-production between French and Canadian companies, with Cineflix, Adélaïde Productions and Galaxie Production co-producing.[1] A derivative production for NOVA, The Deadliest Plane Crash, first aired on PBS on 17 October 2006.[1] The program is not branded as Mayday by Cineflix.[2] Type of aircraft: Flight 1736: Boeing 747-100; Flight 4805: Boeing 747-200B |

- I think it would be better if it was just mentioned in the actual Tenerife episode. Interstate264 (talk) 18:40, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
