  • Added entry for RantRadio wiki entry and external link --CaponeX 08:08, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)

This page needs to be expanded a lot

The list of internet-based stations is very, very incomplete. I'll add a few that I listen to, and hopefully others will do the same. --Zantastik 01:23, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

If by "incomplete" you mean "does not contain some of the stations that have articles", then feel free, however, this list should not contain every station in the world, ever - only a subset enough to represent Internet radio stations as a whole, with as few entries which don't merit articles as possible. Chris talk back 00:34, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I think if this page is categorized well it would be beneficial to users to provide links to all Internet stations. There are a few websites that do this now but none are good. Their lists never seem to link to stations that have working streams. We could also use sub pages (in other words pages named: List_of_Internet_stations/Europe/Scotland/Live_Audio) to categorize the links. Why not have a true reference to all the stations? Personally this would help me find stations that I want to listen. I don't believe there are any other resources that can help me with this. I use comfm.com alot but it is very poor. We could use it as a resourse though to build up a decent and honest list of Internet stations. JesseHogan 01:06, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Do you think its possible to maintain a list of all the active streams? COMFM claims 10,000 radio stations, and others also claim 2500 to 10,000 streams. -Serapio 06:00, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
In the long term, no. But in the short term yes. And later on we can make it a list of notable internet stations with some suitable criterion. Stephen B Streater 08:04, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Please try radeo.net. I sincerely think you will be impressed. Database of worldwide broadcast, webcast, and podcast audio and video streams with >10,000 stations, >15,000 shows, and >500,000 episodes (with multiple formats). Includes search with variations, and player with GUI including personal presets and preferences. Free. EdwardFrank 03:51, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Joe 00:04, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Verification: I added VoiceAmerica.com to the list. They handle more than 140 shows, including mine, and are located in Phoenix, Arizona, and are publicly traded under the name Modavox (MDVX), which you can check with the SEC for verification.jfdunphy 02:06, 16 March 2006 (UTC).

Hello!

I have an internet radio station called Savage Radio - The Rock n'Roll Animal. It's a rock station playing music from the 70's, 80's, 90's and today. The link to the site is here >[1]. Please check it out and see if it's worthy of being listed in Wikipedia. If you need to contact me do so thru e-mail at fredsav1@yahoo.com. Thank you!

Fred Savage

Hi! I'm not in to rock, but my suggestion is you wait until you have an article - all the links are to articles not to stations directly. When you have enough listeners, some of them will get an article together - subject to the usual WP contraints of notability, verifiability, not being written by an employee or owner of your station, etc. Stephen B Streater 19:35, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Neutral tag

This is biased in favour of audio and against the rapidly emerging video stream. Until this is balanced the tag is needed, SqueakBox 18:16, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Can we get added?

We are a internet only, commercial free station. We are the American Internet Radio Network (TM) or AIR Network (TM) for short! We broadcast from New York City via Live365.com. Our web-site is www.airnetwork.s5.com, check it out and see if we can be listed on Wikipedia!

This page seems to be mostly made up of advertisements for radios rather than a NPOV list. Would anyone support me if I decided to clean it up? Perhaps remove stations w/o wikipedia pages and change descriptions to be less "LISTEN TO THIS RADIO WE'VE GOT THE HOT MUSIC!" --Zagsa 03:12, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Advertisments

User:Mushroom did a large (and good job) editing the advertisements out of the list, but might I suggest that all Terrestrial Stations be kept, there's no need for them to be listed to be considered advertisement. The Internet Only pages do need to be cleaned out though. DemosDemon (Talk - contrib) 17:43, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

I should have asked here before doing it :) Here is what I removed:
  • External links: I think this is non-controversial.
  • Red links: I think that non-notable stations should be left out. If they don't have articles they are probably not notable.
  • Descriptions: I removed them all, but maybe they could be "standardized" somehow, if there is a consensus to keep them.
I agree that terrestrial stations can be kept, even with red links, but possibly without external links since they are non-standard. The correct place for them is into the articles about those stations. Mushroom (Talk) 18:24, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
I agree, I like when things are easy to come to aggreement on... so remove any redlinked NN internet only stations, any descriptions (all), and leave the red linked terestial stations (which needs to eventually be created), and remove external links. DemosDemon (Talk - contrib) 18:32, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
I have removed all those things and left the red links for terrestrial stations (hopefully articles will be created about them). Please let me know if I have made any mistakes. Mushroom (Talk) 00:00, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Australian Indigenous station

i want to add 3KND (already has a short wikipedia entry) doesn't seem to be any category it fits, since content is: Talkback, Chat & Current Affairs, Sports, Music & Entertainment, Arts News, Health Programs David Woodward 05:13, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

This page should either be renamed "Wikipedia articles on Internet streaming media resources", or external links should be allowed (in a separate paragraph called "external links" like on all other Wikipedia pages)

It is very incomplete from the perspective of covering all internet radio of interest, and the statement "!-- All external link entries will be removed. --" (is it even allowed to do so on a Wikipedia page?) causes problems.

Example: "Mike's Radio World" is a very comprehensive list of internet radio stations from all over the world. It currently links to over 5000 stations. Links are provided to the stations' home pages as well as direct links to streams. The stations can be browsed by country or by genre. BUT it's not "allowed" to link to this site from here with an external link! I also may not create an internal link since Mike's Radio World, being just an internet page, is not allowed to have it's own Wikipedia page. At the same time, "List of Internet stations" under the heading "Internet radio guides" links to Live365, Radio Roku etc, which are much less useful links, and also biased and more or less commercial. --DavidGGG 19:03, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your mention of Mike's Radio World, which is much more extensive than this article. But MRW is restricted to radio stations that stream live, paying no attention to streams that are entirely web based. There is at least one stream that neither Wikipedia nor MRW has covered 'A' Net Station which is entirely web based and appears to be based in Antarctica. It boasts "NO COMMERCIALS, NO TALK, NEVER"
The decision to limit Wikipedia's coverage of these streams to those about which articles have been written is overly restrictive; there are, after all, thousands of these streams. Would users of Wikipedia not benefit from a plain list of those streams about which an article may not yet have been written?
I endorse the renaming of this article so that a different article "List of Internet Stations" may be written, listing all stations whether or not articles have been written about them. Too Old 22:44, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
I note that there doesn't appear to be any Wikipedia policy that prohibits the inclusion, on a list, of items that are not the subjects of articles. List of winners and shortlisted authors of the Booker Prize for Fiction, List of African-American porn stars, and List of Japanese bondage models, for example, each lists several persons that are not the subject of articles. Too Old 03:51, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Please see Wikipedia:External links and Wikipedia:Red link for the policies that are currently in place. --PhantomS (talk) 19:15, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Internet radio guides?

It seems to me that the first section, entitled "Internet radio guides", appears to be misnamed or else needs different contents or perhaps to simply be removed altogether. I don't think any of the three items currently listed under there should be considered "Internet radio guides" first and foremost, or perhaps even at all whatsoever. SlubGlub (talk) 16:19, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

No one has commented on this since May, so I'm going to go ahead and remove the section. SlubGlub (talk) 18:19, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Polish stations?

There aren't any station from Poland. I think those two: Program 1 and Polish Radio External Service from Polish Radio could be on the list.--213.238.126.59 (talk) 22:35, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Geographical organization

The geographical organization for News & Weather stations doesn't seem to be working. People seem to focus on the geographical area and put anything in there, so we have music, religious broadcasters, etc. I think we should get rid of the geographical organization. The nation or region of origin can be put next to stations in parenthesis or something like that for the stations where that information is relevant--perhaps just in the News & Weather seciont. What do others think? SlubGlub (talk) 20:09, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

2+ days and no one else has weighed in. I'm going to be bold and reorganize it. SlubGlub (talk) 02:51, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Disorganized article

The article sections are arbitrary and overlapping. What's the difference between a "music service" (at the top) and a "music station" (in the middle)? Some are organized by country, others not. CBS has its own section. Are we to believe that CBS is the only network with a large number of affiliate stations online? Or that everybody wants to know about US university stations and tourist/park information stations? The part I expected to see, Internet-only stations, is at the bottom. I'd like to see some organization by country or type (music vs talk), perhaps with Internet-only stations first. Sluggoster (talk) 06:51, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Why is this still here?

Is here any real purpose of this page, while internet becomes one big streaming pool anyway? FY100, 20 Jan 2011 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.113.155.92 (talk) 06:12, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Internet Radio Stations > Internet Stations.

I believe the title of this "list" page should be: List of Internet Radio Stations -- rather than List of Internet stations.

"Internet stations" doesn't make much logical sense, when what this list shows are essentially either streaming-media stations or internet radio stations. Anyone else agree? I wonder why it was left like this. LogicalCreator (talk) 15:41, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Why "Internet stations"?

We have no Wikipedia article for Internet station. I would understand wanting to avoid the technical assumptions of "radio" but using "station" kind of defeats the point. Especially since many on the list are radio stations, I think it should be moved to List of Internet radio stations reflecting how we title the main article internet radio. --— Rhododendrites talk14:11, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

I would like to add a new internet-only radio station to the list. We're Sleep Radio, broadcasting from Auckland, New Zealand.

Sleep Radio started broadcasting in August 2014 after it's founder, John Watson had been diagnosed with severe depression two years earlier. The station broadcasts soft, ambient music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with no advertising, station IDs or announcers. The station was started to help people get to sleep.

Please could you add Teen FM to the list of internet radio stations (http://www.teenfm.co.uk).

Kind Regards, Daniel Teenfmradio (talk) 12:20, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Daniel. To be included on this page, an internet radio station needs to have its own Wikipedia article first and pass scrutiny for whether the station is notable, i.e. has the station received significant coverage from newspapers, magazines, books, or credible websites. As Teen FM does not have standalone article it can't be added at this time. Altamel (talk) 19:10, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Please ADD Pure Rock Radio to your list of 'Internet Only' stations. Pure Rock Radio is a licensed (SOCAN Tariff 22f) Canadian internet station that has been online/on air since May, 1997. When we began, AM/FM terrestrial stations were still NOT ONLINE yet for a few years. We were originally one of the "Founding broadcasters" at Live365.com as well. We no longer use Live365 though. Our Official website is www.purerockradio.net

Please let me know if you require more. I am new to editing or using Wikipedia aside from reading. Thank-you. MaximusVoluminious (talk) 04:12, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
