Boxart

[edit]

i didnt know the boxart for gta:vcs had been released if it has were can i find it? t(-_-t).tekwon 23:57, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For starters, see Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories article. But I do advise using Google first instead the next time around before asking here. Thanks. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 12:55, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article Quality?

[edit]

Is it just me or does this article lack any encyclopeadic quality? Currently it looks like a stereotypical Geocities fansite. Born Acorn

I have to agree with you on that. The entire section of Unknown Characters seems like a huge pile of nonsense. Rumours and speculation; at least give a link to these grand debates of who the characters are from other forums and websites instead of putting one's opinion only. I'm deciding to clean up the entire section and add the pictures correctly, instead of linking them, anyone who opposes, state why. NSRegentPark 12:02, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am definetly not opposed but i was just checking would you be able to replace the low quality pics of Vic and Lance with the digital ones that have been released. It doesn't matter if your unable but Thanks Anyway.--Greene01

Beverly McFadden & Article Clean-Up

[edit]

I have added Beverly McFadden to the "Confirmed Characters" section. My source of information for this character was the Official Vice City Stories website. Where he is mentioned in the "The Dark Underside Of Life On The Base" Report on MeTV.

I am also in the process of cleaning up the article so that it more resembles the other Character pages from the other GTA titles. At the moment I have added images for both Victor Vance and Beverly McFadden. Both images were taken from the Official site and are of good quality. I have also imbedded the images so that they look neater than before when they were just links. --Saint-Gabriel 20:13, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is scant evidence to suggest that that character is Beverly McFadden. This article has an awful problem with printing theory as fact 68.149.220.17 04:45, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and cleaned up the first half of the article, the unknown characters section will probably be rid off for being far too speculative and rumor-driven (until they are actually confirmed characters, the analysis is hardly encyclopedic). As for the screenshots, I'll probably be including a few from various trailers to replace the Photobucket versions. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 18:17, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Diego Mendez

[edit]

Is the information of T-Bone really necessary? I mean, IMHO, he looks nothing like a younger version of T-Bone, Diego Mendez looks much older. The relative part, maybe, but that's about it. I'm removing that tid-bit of him being a younger version of T-Bone, it's ridiculousNSRegentPark 12:09, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Martinez????

A newly released game art has his name tag bearing the name. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 16:08, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
so the official site says his name is McFadden~ moe 18:48, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This wouldn't prove much if we don't know what McFadden looks like, even if the soldier is pictured alongside the news report in question. It would be better to stick to Martinez for now, before we have a concrete indication as to who he is. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 19:09, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Verifying age

[edit]

I'm having a hard time verifying Lance Vance's age (or Tommy Vercetti's for that matter). The article states that the Vice City manual should provide this information, but so far the PC version manual doesn't (much of it focuses as a tourist guide for Vice City). Could someone grab hold of the PS2 and Xbox versions, and clear this up? ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 10:49, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

he was 32 in vice city but it will be retconed in VCS to say that he was 28 ~User:Metal_moe 10:21, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This doesn't help much if you have no source to back this information up. What I'm actually requesting is a scanned page of the manual or a PDF copy of the manual that mentions the ages of the character. The manual I have of the PC version of GTA:VC doesn't mention it at all. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 10:13, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The PS2 manual doesn't say anything either. In fact, they are both almost exactly the same. - .:Alex:. 17:31, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Strange Rumors

[edit]

Victor Vance was killed in the original Vice City version at the beginning. He was shot by gangs, thus Vercetti and his Lawyer was fleeing the docks.

Ricardo Diaz was killed in the mission known as Rub Out from Vice City by Lance Vance and Tommy Vercetti.

Lance Vance was killed at the final mission where Tommy Vercetti must protect his money and Lance Vance was killed. I have noticed that few characters was killed by Tommy Vercetti, but Victor was killed by a shootout at the beggining of the game. Professional Gamer 3 November 2006

Official Strategy Guide Character Descriptions

[edit]

I picked up the official guide to the game and it had a character section with small desciptions of the major characters and background information on a few of them. Some of it confirms such things as Marty Williams is indeed the boss of the Trailer Park Mafia and that Louise Williams and her sister are cousins of Phil, not sisters. If anyone's interested, I can type up the info here on this talk page and you can read over it, deciphering anything you want to incorporate. (It's short, nothing long) -Navex November 10, 2006

That's all and well. Just remember to provide the source of the information. And since a lot may be added in the article, it's not necessary to cite all of them; just write in details of the official guide (name and author) in the reference section. Thanks for your concern. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 08:15, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Type it up, it would be helpful, Thanks

Giorgio Forelli

[edit]

Mind providing evidence that suggests Giorgio would succeed Sonny Forelli in 1986 (and be killed in 1992 by Carl Johnson)? If GTA:VCS doesn't mention anything about it, this claim is subject to removal. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 13:59, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, there is no evidence, just fan belief and speculation, this calim may cause confusion. MetallicSnake16 19:00, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Giorgio could have become new don of the forelli family after his cousins' deaths to defeat both Leone Family returned Sindacco Family and Tommy Vercetti after events of GTA Vice City GTA Liberty City Stories and GTA 3.

Vic Vance

Reni's identity

[edit]

Since Reni is a woman at the end of her arc, and during Liberty City Stories she's still a woman (as heard during her commentary on the radio station show she hosts), I'm going to change the "his/her" nonsense and use the proper pronouns. - Throw 14:20, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wondering about Reni's original gender. Supposedly he/she has had a total of 4 sex changes and ends up as a woman which implies Reni was born a woman. But just before catching a flight to Europe, Victor makes a comment about Reni having large hands and stubble. Those are generally indicaters of a person being born a man.
The evidence is certainly indicative that Reni was born a man since features like large hands can't be altered and are more likely male characteristics. But with her last sex change operation she received female genitals and hormonal therapy to develop breasts, make her voice higher pitched and reduce hair (from the face and such), and identifies as a woman and lives as one, so she's a woman. - Throw 21:54, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Don't you mean make her voice higher rather than lower? - TheTrojanHought 18:49, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's what I meant. I fixed the error. - Throw 22:39, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pete

[edit]

The entry for Pete Vance explaining that he MAY be the brother killed in VC is being reverted non-stop, and I see the validity in both arguments. For one thing, Pete possibly being the brother killed is a rumor and not fact. However, the rumor is such a major point of debate among GTA fans, that it warrants a mention on why it's such a popular rumor. Is there a general consensus? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 170.20.11.116 (talkcontribs) 15:31, 29 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I think that since Pete has never been (definitively) shown, the best you can do is mention the "controversy among fans" over who dies. However, that aready got addressed here, at the bottom. Johnnyfog 21:10, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rockstar never confirmed that it was Vic Vance who was killed.

There is no reason for a huge synopsis of Vic Vance because, durr, there's a whole article on the subject. Durr.

I've hit the 3RR and an unregistered user keeps reverting everything on Vic and Lance. I made the Lance part more succint, but I didn't remove anything important. Johnnyfog 21:04, 18 April 2007 (UTC) Why are you deleating info from the Lance Vance section? Theres no article on him, so stop deleating shit.[reply]

Diego Mendez

I swear that there was a mission in the game that had Diego speaking in english. I think it was the one where you had to pick up his car using a helicopter fitted with a giant magnet. Could anyone confirm this for me? .:Alex:. 17:13, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, you're correct, the helicopter rescue mission was the one where he spoke English. Navex 03:31, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brian/Bryan Forbes

[edit]

Quote from .:Alex:.:

Bryan Forbes - Stop changing the letters of his name! It's BRIAN. It's in the manual. It's in the game. It's official.

Well, it's in the manual. But if you look at the ingame map, and read the cutscene texts you can see that he's called "Bryan". I think THAT'S official. ProSieben 17:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Victor Vance

[edit]

The article Victor Vance consists of plot information. There is no out-of-universe information, and no secondary sources to show notability. It should be merged into this list. Pagrashtak 20:10, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, the Vic Vance article consists of too much information that is not only about this game's plot but even others (meanwhile, Vice City even if I don't think he appeared there.) Too much to just merge with an article full of information already. 81.216.183.206 (talk) 19:33, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not a plot summary. You've hit the nail on the head—this article contains too much information about the game's plot. The plot of the game belongs in the article about the game. If we're to have an article on the character, it should focus on the character. Now, in order to do that, we need the raw materials for article construction—reliable secondary sources. Can you provide those or show why Victor Vance meets the requirement of Wikipedia:Notability? Pagrashtak 22:17, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is focused on the CHARACTER, not the game's plot. Strictly about the characters story. And the only reason just this character has an article is because he's the protagonist. Story of two games wont belong in a character list that is about only one game. Also the information can easily be cited via in-game dialogue. Unless you can't speak English then you could also understand it. --81.216.183.206 (talk) 14:07, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Once again, you make a good point—"the only reason just this character has an article is because he's the protagonist". We shouldn't make articles just because a character is the lead—we should make articles about notable subjects. Per Wikipedia:Verifiability, "If no reliable, third-party sources can be found for an article topic, Wikipedia should not have an article on it." According to Wikipedia:Notability, we presume subjects as notable if they are the subject of significant coverage in reliable secondary sources. You need to show why this subject is notable according to our policies and guidelines. Pagrashtak 20:16, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, is the game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories notable? If so, then the lead character is too. Enough said! --81.216.183.206 (talk) 11:33, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In general, notability is not inherited. Pagrashtak 12:46, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would support a merge ala Niko Bellic provided that the whole "images in lists" debate does not reignite due to the merge.--.:Alex:. 18:20, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
