Giving this page an update that I hope will help.

[edit]

I decided to be brave... VERY brave... and revamp this entire page with more studios added (Pathé, Sennett, Disney, United Artists) and additional short series for each studio. Initially I had only updated Warner Brothers and made separate wikipedia articles for each series of that studio (those not done by others).

Hopefully, those talented people who had initially worked on Columbia's and Hal Roach’s sections won't mind me regrouping them in alphabetic order. (They were initially in chronological order.)

The primary purpose is to provide a LIST, which can be the basis for future articles.

Therefore, I did not footnote anything here… as I would with an individual article on a specific film title or series (like those I worked on for Warner Brothers, as indicated by the number of blue links). The bottom references... in my opinion... are sufficient enough to show that none of this information was "made up", although corrections and additions are always necessary as new information is found. The Motion Picture Herald, Film Daily and BoxOffice magazine scans are particualrly good references to the individual series, studio by studio, from the late 1910s through the 1971 (when BoxOffice stopped listing the shorts in charts).

So hopefully, all of yee “Eagle Eyes” can catch and correct my boo-boos. I tried my best to be as accurate as possible, but I am not Superman. (One particular struggle of mine were "dablinks". Previously it was easy to check for "dead links" or "disambiguation", but I had some trouble proofing myself this time around.) After all, this is a GROUP effort, so feel free to add and change to your hearts' content.

Jlewis68, perfectly sensible approach, a lot of work, and very nice job. Lockley (talk) 05:13, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for finding my "dablinks" since I no longer had my short-cut method. I really, REALLY appreciate it. I went ahead and removed the warning at the top after making the corrections. HOWEVER, you can add it right back if you discover more that need fixed.--Jlewis68 11:52, 27 April 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlewis68 (talkcontribs)

deletion of all animated shorts

[edit]

Hm. By wikipedia's own definition short subjects include animated films. @DoctorHver:, I appreciate the work it took to remove them all and I won't just revert that change. But I think it deserves a discussion. Is it that all those removals are currently listed somewhere else, like List of animated short series? If so, let's cross-reference the two for clarity. --Lockley (talk) 21:48, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Just go head with the crossreferences as all of those animated series I removed should be listed on there own. DoctorHver (talk) 01:06, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
